Anyone else speculating if they will offer a SoCal ticket deal?

Two forms of payment (ie. unused ticket and credit card) needs to be done in person.

Yes, I think $130ish, a one day ticket from a couple years ago

Then yes you can apply the value to this deal. You can try calling I have heard stories that others have been able to do it over the phone. Used to be only in person but I think with the new reservation system they have made exceptions to do it over the phone.

That would be huge! @mom-2-3 let us know if they allow you to use two forms of payment over the phone.

I don't see how they can force you to do it in person when they are requiring you to book a reservation to enter the park. If you don't have a valid ticket you can't book a reservation.

You do it at the ticket booths before you enter the parks. The problem is when people don't live in the area and the promo might be pulled by the time they make it to the parks in person.

I understand that. But even with the SoCal deal, it is still quite a trek for many people to just exchange a ticket.

There have been people on this board that have flown down to DL for a single day to deal with ticket exchanges. Disney’s requirement of at-the-booth-presence for some of these exchanges is bonkerstown.

I currently have an expired two-day ticket sitting in the app/on my account. The app lets me edit the ticket and pay the difference between the old and new ticket. It looks like I can only exchange it for “like” tickets. It’s a two-day park hopper so it will only let me exchange it for a 2-5 day park hopper. I wonder if it were a single day ticket if it would allow me to exchange it for a different single day ticket…

Anyway, you didn’t used to be able to exchange unused, expired tickets online at all so that is an improvement.

My recent experience.
I was holding unused, expired So Cal passes purchased from a 3rd party seller in 2022. We had offsite room reservations for the first weekend in January, and had planned to purchase new tickets at the box office the first weekend in December, paying the difference for new tickets. We had been holding off to see if they were going to release a So Cal discount ticket, but were running out of time.
Then the new So Cal resident passes were announced. Our tickets were purchased before the seller changed their return policy and were non refundable, but could have the purchase price applied to new tickets. I called Disney to see if I could make a reservation with the old tickets, then purchase the new tickets on site in a few days. I was worried about waiting to secure a reservation so close to our trip on the new ticket type. The agent was able to help me until the system went down. I was advised to call back later to complete the reservation. When I called later that day I was able to purchase 6 tickets over the phone and apply the value of the original purchase then pay the balance with a CC (2 payment type transaction). I did not have to travel 3 hours to the park to make the transaction in person.

I’m not sure if I reached a supervisor on my second phone call or got a little pixie dust sprinkled on me, but I was thrilled. I fully expected to make the purchase in person, I was only hoping to hold a reservation on the expired tickets for a few days until I could travel to do so. If you are considering flying (or driving several hours) to Disneyland to make this transaction in person I would at least call first and ask if you can have your call escalated to a supervisor. We leave a week from tomorrow and I can’t wait!

That's great! I hope it is a permanent change.

In January, I tried to upgrade my existing MK after the upgrade window. It was two forms of payment and I had to go in person. There were a lot of people in line with 3 day So Cal tickets who wanted to upgrade to a MK (also two forms of payment). I arrived at 8 am, ticket booths opened at 9 am and I didn't leave until after 3 pm!

Yikes! That’s a long wait to exchange tickets. I fully expected to do it at the ticket booths too. I hope this is a permanent change as well.

Sorry for the delay, yes was able to do it over the phone and pay difference with a D gift card. This was for my DD who lives in SoCal now, she did have to update her address to SoCal on account to do it. I’m sure she’ll still need to show CA DlL at gate, no biggie that’s up to date. Thanks everyone for your help.

Thanks for coming back to update us. Glad to hear that they changed the policy and that everything worked out.

For what it is worth, even if you purchase a So Cal ticket in person, you still need to show your ID with a So Cal zip code the first time you enter a park with that ticket.
