Anyone else not love Fantasmic?

I really enjoyed Fantasmic and have seen it several times, however I do enjoy Illuminations much more and Wishes a little more. Part of the reason is that you have to get there so early and wait so long to make sure you have a seat. And then deal with the cattle drive to leave the theater.

DH and I saw it once and that was enough for us as well. We had great seats and everything. At the end of the show we looked at each other and said, "that is it?" Couldn't figure out what all the fuss was over. Oh well, to each his/her own!

Quite honestly, I think if it were more like the one at DL I would like it more. There's NOTHING like that Peter Pan/Captain Hook (and the other characters) battle on the big pirate ship/

Agreed. Once I saw the DL version, I don't bother with MGM's anymore.

We like it, and will watch it if it's convenient to us. However, the first time we saw this we waited 70 minutes. Youngest DS and I saved seats for oldest DS and DH. Well we will NEVER do that again! They rode TOT and RNR in that time frame and were thinking of squeezing in another TOT, but were concerned that I would get mad ( i would have too...jealous of those extra rides)

So since then we wait until about 5 min before the show starts and just get a seat in the back. Really the view is awesome, and you don't feel so trapped waiting. The cattle heard is a tough one, but hey everyone is tired and walking slowly by then, so its doable.

It doesn't do anything to me. Perhaps if I saw it sometime when it didn't fell 100+ degrees/100% humidity I would feel differently.

We had great seats, so I enjoyed it, could do without the pochantas thing, but otherwise, it was entertaining.

My favorite is still IllumiNations. Wishes is a close 2nd.

We went one time and left. We had such high expectations and were very disappointed. Really don't get it!

We all enjoy Fantasmic although Illuminations is still my favorite nighttime show. But Fantasmic is a 'must-do' for us each and every trip if only to see the expression on my middle DDs face as she watches the show - it's better than the show itself!. :goodvibes Fantasmic (and wishes as well) are the only times I've ever seen my 'wild child' become completely and totally entranced.

Dh and I did Fantasmic on our first family trip back in '98 while our ds was at the Neverland Club. We weren't impressed, and hadn't gone back to see it since. Our ds is now almost 13 and wanted to go this past trip, so we did. He thought it was "cool", but again, dh and I weren't impressed. Now I know why we skipped it for 7 years, LOL!! It's just not our thing.

OTOH, we *love* Illuminations and Wishes, and Happy Hallowishes was just outstanding!! Guess we're not "Fantasmic people". ;)

DH and I don't care for Fantasmic. After a while the water screen segments bore me...they're too long and there's too much of it. I also don't care for the Pocahontas segment. I'd be willing to see it more often if it weren't for the seating...either pay for the dining plan to eat at restaurants we don't want to eat at, or wait for over an hour and then be stampeded like cattle either way after the show's over.

I prefer Illuminations to Fantasmic, though I think there could be more fireworks and less of the globe.

I LOVE Spectro and Wishes though and can see them multiple times each trip. Hallowishes was spectacular, IMO. :sunny:

I usually LOVE things that mix alot of characters together...like Philharmagic or Cinderella's Surprise Celebration and I thought I would love Fantasmic, but for some reason that I really don't know, it didn't do much for me. I honestly don't know what it was....I went with 8 people who absolutely LOVED it, but I just wasn't as enthused about it. Now, I LOVE Wishes and Illuminations ....
Wishes being my favorite. I would never miss either, but Fantasmic? I can take it or leave it and I'll never sit and wait over an hour in the stadium for it. At least when you are staking out a parade seat on Main Street you can people watch to pass the time, but sitting in the Fantasmic theatre all that time? No thank you!

I like Fantasmic ok, but Illuminations is my favorite. Fantasmic loses me after the water screens. Still, a must-do for ever trip.

I kept wondering if I was missing something at Fantasmic. My DH and kids seemed to really enjoy it, but I just didn't get it. I loved doing it as part of the package, because I really love the HBD, but I could have skipped the whole show. Not a single part of it captivated me. I think I'll be viewing the Osborne lights instead this time around.

hi
we have seen it twice just to make sure we didn't miss anything the first time. we didn't. it just did not live up toour expectations

we werent impressed either. i was expecting more, the other shows & fireworks are so great. we'll probably try it again when we go with our family for the wedding.

Why are some people so critical about the shows, the rides. Someone said they didn't like it because of Pocahontas. Illuminations has changed atleast 3 times since 1989. Too bad some of you didn't see it back then, because most of you wouldn't enjoy this one.

I fell the same way about Fantasmic, we did it once and probably won't do it again. We really didn't mind the long wait for the show but it just didn't thrill us like some of the other shows did. Personally I prefer Illuminations over anything else and so does my husband. Spectro was a big dissapointment but we enjoyed Wishes. It is nice that we are given all these options of what to watch when we go on a Disney vacation.

Thanks for all of the responses. Glad to read there is not something wrong with me for not loving Fantasmic!

I think we will skip it this trip and make sure we see Illuminations. Believe it or not, after two WDW trips, we still have not seen it! I love Wishes and Spectromagic, so I am sure I will love Illuminations. :goodvibes

If you haven't seen Illuminations and its a choice between the two, yes, by all means see Illuminations.

We like it better than Fantasmic, though we do still like Fantasmic (DL's version is better, though...).

I first saw Fantasmic at Disneyland, and was lucky enough to talk to the stage manager AND get a bit of a tour afterwards. Needless to say, the experience at WDW just can't live up to that!
