To me it means stress..everything starts up again, forever in the car..nagging about homework and projects, hearing "no I don't have homework" or "oh, I did it in school" Is it just me?

Something to be said for the quiet days of summer. this is my ds first yr of school my dd is going into 8th, they start back aug 12 that is so early too:(

I'm dreading it. It's always so quiet when they head back to class.

Of course, I get more done and I don't hear them bickering during the day, so it's not all bad. :teeth:

Nope! I dread the start of school again! Even when I was the student! And, now with my kids in 2 different schools, just call me 'chaffeur'!!! :(

Wow. I'm counting the hours until I can send mine back to school :)

I always had mixed feelings about going back to school as a kid, nervousness, anticipation, those kinds of things.

This year, though, I'm really not looking forward to it. :(

I am not looking forward to it, either. But then again, I am still in school. I am not looking forward to a year of stress and no sleep - junior year sounds great from what I have heard. If I got no sleep last year, I wonder what this year will be like?

After the week I have just had with DS (who is 6), I am more than ready to have him go back to school. 3 weeks and 5 days.....but whose counting.

My poor mom and dad, must not like it. 5 kids in 5 different schools!!

DS(18)- A near by junior college, needs rides there and back.
DD(16 me hehe)- take the bus downtown to school, usually gets rides back from cheer prac. after school from another mom. Has football games and such that needs rides for.
DS(15)- High school 10 mins away, has a carpool, parents only have to drive on certain days
DS(12)- Middle school 10 mins away, same story as ^^
DD(10)- elementary school 10 mins away, school starts at 8am so its later then the older kids, still needs ride there and back.

WOW that is ALOT of driving... never really thought of it that way, YIKES.. LOVE YOU MOMMY!!

I cannot wait until school starts again. Even though there are more things to worry about, I like the structure it brings to the house. House stays clean for at least a few hours before they get home. Phone and internet to myself. Less sleepovers! Noone asking for cash every 15 minutes for the pool, local conveniece store outings, amusement parks, etc. Less driving to and from the mall, movies, pool, friends houses, etc. Earlier bedtime...aaaahhh I CAN"T WAIT!!!!!

I'm going to miss DS. We've had the summer together
and it's been great. Some days we've done nothing
much at all and some days have been really busy. We
read a lot and kept journals, went to the pool, rode
bikes, found all kinds of fun! I'll be sad but ds will be
excited to get back to his "pack" as I call his group of
friends. We've had lots of playdates but it's not the same
as being together all day. I honestly enjoy my son's
company.

My DSs will be in 7th and 8th grade. Even though they love school, I really miss them! :( It is so nice to have them around, especially with thier weird sense of humor. I am always finding plastic bugs in the fruit bowl or fridge, the "fart machine" they bought is strategically placed throughout the house, etc :) :) Never a dull moment!

Nope..not just you :)

All 3 of mine will be in a wonderful magnet school this year so I know they will enjoy what they are doing.

BUT I hate getting up early -- we have to leave at 7:10AM!

I hate that feeling when you realize you've misplaced the teacher's newsletter and it said something really important.

OTOH I love the afternoon snack when they're all gathered around the kitchen table stuffing their faces and talking excitedly about their day.

You are not alone! I hate it when the kids go back to school...I really miss them. It has been an insanely busy summer so adjusting to a busier pace won't be as bad this year...I guess that's good. Ahhh...if life would just slow down a little.

I cant wait for her to go back to school!!!!:bounce: :bounce:
The only thing I dont look forward to is waking up to drive her!!

I'm mixed.

I've been busy working, attempting to find a job, etc.

The other day I just realized, that BOTH my kids will be gone.
My baby girl will be going to kindergarten. She is really excited about it, and I will probably being the mom who is going to cry at the bus stop....

But her and her brother have been fighting all the time, so it would be a good thing!

I have to leave home by 7:00a.m., so that means I have to get Delilah up by 6:00a.m. to have her at her school by 7:45a.m., Its not the getting up I mind but it breaks my heart when she must be in bed by 7:oop.m. to get the 11 hours sleep she needs when she can hear other children outside playing. Very heart breaking.

Wow 8 more days... lucky you Shannon... my kids don't go back until Sept 3 and Sept 6!

hate the thought of it! This has been such a wonderful summer. We just seem to be having fun, going at a great pace doing things, enjoying the pool! Plus my DD will be going to first grade, gone till almost 4! And my DS will be 3 days a week!

Luckily they don't go back till after Labor day so we have all of August to enjoy!
