Heading down to HHI next May. I initially had a ressie for a Studio, but we always like to get at least a 1BR. There will only be two of us this trip. No 1BR ressies were available, so I went ahead and grabbed a 2BR. Feeling kind of guilty getting a 2BR for just the two us, but there was no other option than just staying in the Studio. Anyone else get a 2BR and basically the second BR is not used? I guess if I end up in the doghouse for one reason or another, I could always use the 2BR myself :rotfl:.

I have never, but would if I "had" to. We enjoyed a studio HHI stay, so I probably would have stayed with the studio, and waitlisted for the 1 bedroom. Enjoy your stay!

I have a 1 night stay at HHI coming up. It's one night as I travel to FL with my DCuz for a RCCL cruise! Hoping to meet Simba's Mom and her DH there!:goodvibes

No, but good for you! :thumbsup2 In this situation I absolutely would have grabbed it as well.

Have a wonderful time. :goodvibes

Also, the sound travelling isn't the best in this resort. A two bedroom would be heavenly.

I can go and use that other room. Heck, I am in Raleigh, I could even ride down with you. :rotfl2:

This is what we do & more often than not our wait lists have come through. But on the other hand, I'm to frugal (ok let's say cheap :rotfl2:) to use points for a 2 bedroom for just DW & I.

We did once at HH. We had to cancel a one-bedroom reservation for September because of a hurricane hitting our home. When I rebooked the trip for November the number of points for a two-bedroom was less than the reservation for the one-bedroom, so we took it. We tried to invite friends to go with us but they couldn't so we had all that room to ourselves. I think i may have used some of the towels -- :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Enjoy your stay! We are headed that way tomorrow:cool1::cool1:

Yes, we ended up doing this a few years ago at Hilton Head because we REALLY wanted to go in late Oct and there were no 1 BRs available when I booked in early July...... and none became available. There were incredible cash rates for DVC members that year (something like $145 for a 2 BR, tax included) so I booked a couple of nights on cash, to save on points. And we really loved HH!

We actually did use the second BR for naps, since it was there, and it was great having a 2nd bathroom. Getting a 1 BR for two of us is our idea of luxury, so having a 2 BR was really over the top! (but I did feel a little frivolous sometimes)

If I had the points I would book it. I booked a studio for my son and I years ago at HH and then began to realize how hard it would be without a real kitchen. At the parks it's not a problem, but in HH we hang out more at the resort, and we were going off season, so our options were limited. I remember buying a hot plate and taking a couple of pots with me. When we arrived the Cast Member gave us a complimentary upgrade to a 2 bedroom which was amazing. Learned my lesson though, not to get a studio in HH unless we want to eat out a lot.

Never feel guilty over such a thing!

We've often had large units for "just the two of us" for a variety of reasons. And we enjoyed the space! One year we had a two bedroom at BWV for an entire week to ourselves booked through RCI and simply loved it: his and hers bathrooms and closets! I could leave the ironing board out all week in the studio and nobody cared! We felt soooo "rich!"

Although we haven't, they won't be surprised at HHI. I remember once at HHI being told about the couple (yes, 2 people) who'd come every year and reserve a Grand Villa for a few days. They wanted it for the fireplace-oh, yeah-they came in February.

Well the thing is at HH, we really like having the full kitchen. Unlike at WDW, at HH we cook a lot, especially breakfast each morning plus we do 2-3 dinners during the week. I like cooking out once a trip on one of the grills also. If we take DS39, we always get a 2BR, but if just DW and myself we are fine in a 1BR. But every one knows how much harder they are to get. Plus lately we haven't been using all our points, so that isn't a problem.

nope never would, those points would go for a longer trip.

I was just thinking about it to get 3 days at VGC in June. Fortunately, was able to get a 1 bedroom instead. A 2 bedroom for myself and 7 year old DD did seem like overkill :lmao: and a waste of precious points.

I am one of the "spoiled by 1 bedroom" people. We stayed in a studio at HH for our 1st trip and then had a 1 bedroom the next time. Never again for us in a studio. Not only do we like the full kitchen - we have different sleep patterns. DH is a nap person and I am not. It is really hard in a studio. We also like the bigger bathroom. I would not hesitate to book a 2 bedroom over the studio. Have fun!

When my DH and I travel with our older sons, we get a 2 Br for comfort and privacy...Love the "spread out feeling" of a 2 Br and privacy for all of us..

Doghouse? Naaah..... Life is "too carefree on vaca".......Too much Fun! :rotfl2::) ENJOY!:)

My recent trip was me and my friend for the Wine&Dine Half. I wanted the kitchen so I booked a 1 bedroom, but realized that this caused one of us to sleep on a pullout. Would have been far more civilized if I'd booked the 2 bedroom. Oh well!

I don't but mostly because I don't want to spend my points on it. If I had the extra points, I would consider it. We recently went from Studios to 1 BR cause of the kids. If I had the points I'd love to do two.

Our first stay at HHI was a special deal with the Disney Visa. $99 a night. I think we were suppose to get a studio, but, it may have been for a one room.

When we got there, they upgraded us to a two bedroom.

It was a cold and rainy January weekend. We didn't leave the room much and didn't even go in the other bedroom.

But that was the stay that made us decide to join the DVC.
