I agree with Resol.
I would feel something was missing if I didn't hear it when I got on the Monorail.

Ok it only bothers me when I have to dial a phone and listen to a Spanish translation every time or in the work place. This is the USA and if you want to live and work here you should understand and speak the English Language just like if I went to their country to live and work I should know their language. As far as Disney or any park goes I can understand they need to have something in place for vistors.

Good post. :thumbsup2

I've seen a couple of posts about racism and I think the ILLEGAL Mexicans have brought the whole problem on themselves . I know alot of people who have become bitter toward all Mexicans over the last 15 years because of illegals coming in and taking our jobs, getting free health care, government help and living 30 people to a 4 bedroom home so they can save their money and send it back home to Mexico.

Don't get me wrong. I have no problem with anyone coming here to live legally. This is a free country, but it's our country and if you want to LIVE here then learn the rules and that includes speaking English when out in public.

Is anyone else getting a little irriatated with all the spanish translations on rides/monrail/shows, after saying it in English?

Absolultely! :thumbsup2

To me it lessens the magic. But of course hearing Spanish all the time here in Texas, it is already in "overkill" mode. ;)

It's OK with me but why just Spanish? How about French, German, Japanese and Red Neck?

:confused3 :grouphug:

Can you imagine Jeff Foxworthy doing the "Red Neck" portion? :rotfl2:

"You might be uh Red Neck . . .
. . . if 'ya bring yur rifle fer th' Jungle Cruise ride".

What bothers me is my DBF repeating the spanish version over and over and over again! He quotes the monorail all of the time! :rotfl2:

sigh... this thread has really taken a turn for the worst when we start comparing illegal immigrants to why "americans" don't like the spanish language.

Why on earth would anyone get irritated because they hear some words in another language?

Yes, it irritates me almost as much as all those fakers using ECVs...those people using strollers to ram their way through crowds....mousekeeping not leaving me towel animals even though I tip....people re-using refillable mugs from one trip to another....pool-hopping....the lower class visitors who stay at the Value resorts and pack their lunches.... :rotfl:

Yes, I am kidding! Relax and enjoy WDW and don't look for things to irritate you.

I didn't read the entire post, but first I will say that I expect translations in a theme park that caters to international travelers.

Secondly, I have a bilingual friend who refuses to speak Spanish. He really feels that the push to be politically correct and provide a bilingual environment in the USA is really a form of oppression. He believes that Spanish speaking citizens will never really have the same opportunities as other Americans unless they are forced to learn the language.

Just my 2 cents! :rolleyes1

I don't speak spanish, so when it comes on I just ignore it because I don't understand it. Not sure why it bothers anyone as long as they announce it in English first so that you know what's being said. What's the big deal??? :confused3

I must say that it amazes me how much english foreigners know especially compared to how much german, spanish, french, italian, etc that we know!

I do get annoyed when calling somewhere here in the US and get the spanish BEFORE the english, but other then that I am pretty tolerant I guess.

I completely see why they would have multiple languages at disney, oddly enough I wouldn't think that Spanish was the second most used language at disney though, maybe disneyland. I don't know the facts though.

It does bother me after I think about it because this is America and if I went to a country that spoke another language I wouldnt expect people to speak my language because its THERE country. This is America we speak ENGLISH and if you cant speak english dont come to America and expect us to speak your language because if you come to America you need to LEARN ENGLISH BEFORE YOU COME!!! :furious: I'm very opinionated about this issue.

It does not bother me the least... but then I speak 2 languages (French and English) I know a few words and phrases in Spanish and would love to learn more... but that's just me, Love to learn all the time... :goodvibes

I think we need to start a whole new board here at the DIS, we will entitle it, "The griping, complaining, and whining board". I must walk around with rose-colored glasses on because when we were at Disney I can honestly say that we did not see one single thing that disappointed us.

The world is too globalized and interconnected to be so naive. With the amount of travelling done. Thank you, MEK for saying you expect translations. The US makes itself out to be the greatest nation in the world but completely stays America-centric.

Maybe we should get rid of the World Showcase, since other languages bother people so much.
