Anyone else hate Jungle Cruise?

I love the Jungle Cruise. I used to be so-so on it, before I got to hear the queue radio loop..that sold me completely.

A good skipper makes this ride. Thankfully we have had some fantastic ones!

I used to love it, but it's lost its charm for me. People are correct that the narrator makes the difference. Even great puns lose their value when they become familiar and predictable.
They're not all that predictable. My DS and I were on one trip, and as we approached the waterfall, we were practically mouthing the words with the skipper. She must have noticed, because when she got to "...Schweitzer Falls, named for the famous Albert...", we toned right in with "... Falls." She stopped. Looked at us weird, and said, "No, Albert Schweitzer. What's wrong with you?"

They're not all that predictable.

It is part of the vast Jungle Cruise skipper fraternity rites to jump script and blend in one's own version
of the narration vignettes.

There are websites dedicated to collecting the thousands and thousands of unique spiels and quips
of creative Jungle Cruise skippers.

Many of the lines are hysterical.

We have a standing joke about jungle cruise in our house. It's one of those things everyone else loves, but we always skipped because it had too long of a wait and it always got bumped on the priority list. We finally did it 2 years ago and we couldn't wait for it to be over. It was so boring that my husband and kids were joking they were going to jump and swim back. Now it's a standing joke that when something is horrible boring, we refer to" is it as bad as sitting through the jungle cruise?"

off topic a bit but we use the term "code pirates" to denote being around a person or people that are talking too loud....as you can probably guess we created that phrase after riding with a particularly loud group on POTC

it is MK's version of the great movie ride!:rotfl2:

No, it is corny, and if you are sitting by the engine, you wish you were dead, but the line cue is very funny, if you read all the signs and stuff, and sometimes the boat captains actually have personality!...The Great movie ride is a great place to be in air conditioning!

I know not everything is for everyone, but this is an iconic ride...Yes they're corny jokes & yes you see the same things , but it's one of those rides that makes you aware that Yes, I'm In DISNEY.....At least in our family..:confused3

That is how we feel, it wouldn't be a Disney trip without taking a ride on the Jungle Cruise...especially at night. And if the OP actually "hates" the Jungle Cruise because of the corny jokes and all, then I would suggest they don't step foot in the new Adventureland restaurant that is under construction right now. From what I have read, it is suppose to be a Jungle Cruise themed restaurants where the waitstaff will still use the corny jokes on the diners. Personally I can't wait, because my family really like those corny jokes, we like them so much that we will recite them at home :goodvibes.

One skipper we had on a cruise, pointed across to a half-sunken boat with its entire hull underwater.
Deadpan delivery:
"That's my apartment over in that boat right there.
I live downstairs.
Yah, I have a waterbed."

Some people love going to the same thing over and over for the nostalgia but I have to say that once was enough for that ride. I believe it was back in the 90's. I felt the same way about the Country Bear and Star Tours...it was just ok as a kid but now I do not care to see again. I remember when I did go on the Jungle Cruise I was very underwhelmed by the bad/fake animals. It seemed like they tried to make up for that by making it kind of a joke....throwing out puns as you drive by an old wooden hippo etc. A lot of people on the boards talk about re living childhood etc. so I guess that's how it survives.

Out of all the times I've ridden this ride, I never rode it at night before this last trip in Nov. WoW what an awesome experience....We usually never do any headliners and stuff at night, but we tried it for something different, and found out every ride is a totally awesome/different experience...Especially BTMRR, & Splash too.

I have to admit that I love it at night - the daytime version lost something for me ... we DID have a great narrator/Skipper the first time and a terrible one in the day ... maybe that made a big difference. If I go in two weeks I'll take my bf on it both in the day and at night - HE can say which he prefers (I'm cruel that way! :D) He is NOT a Disney fan but he'll do it for me ... I think because we'll be celebrating, he'll enjoy it anyway!

I cannot believe I have never heard of these websites! *runs to find them*

I love it! The nostalgia, the traditions. It's a must do for us every trip. But I did check my email when I was on it last week, so I really think I just love the IDEA of it.

What about Great Movie Ride?

100% yes...as an older kid/teen this was probably one of my all-time favorite rides. Last year we went to DHS once and the one chance we had to ride, we got the worst guide ever. Completely monotone, no performance ability. How he was hired for that ride, I don't know. Usually you cheer when your guide comes back/saves the day...not this time. It's amazing how much a bad guide can take away from a ride.

Not anymore.

The "live" guide spiel has been replaced (for the most part) with pre-recorded vignettes by
Robert Osborne of Turner Classic Movies.
TCM is the new corporate sponsor of The Great Movie Ride.

You are joking right? Right?

I do like to joke, but this one is completely serious.

Disney and TCM have made a "partnership" deal.

More HERE.

(The above article is from last year, so most of the announced plans have already been put in place.)

I get quite a few folks love it but it's just not working for me. If it was just a boat ride observing the animals and just relaxing, I could take it. But the awful humor and the corny jokes just grate me. Maybe I'm alone in that feeling?
Say what! Classic. Yes the jokes used to be better back in the day when cm's had more freedom but still a classic.

I would assume u aren't a fan of the carousel of progress then?
