Anyone else getting nervous about the weather forecast for next week?

No sense to worry about what can not be controlled. Regardless of the weather, you will have a magical vacation! princess:

The thing I find amusing about the long range Accuweather forecast is that it will say there is a 60% chance of rain, but the expected precipitation is .01 inches! So basically there is a 60% chance one raindrop will hit you :rotfl2:.

Pretty much all of the local affiliates do weather every ten minutes in the morning during the week, so it's easy enough to get a quick forecast as you're getting ready to head out for the day. So long as you pack a poncho and a jacket, with clothes you can layer, you'll be ready for anything.

This always makes me wonder... Can you actually TRUST the weather forecast in other states!? I just assumed it was like this everywhere. Seriously don't look until 2-3 days out and take that with a grain of salt knowing that even same day forecasts are sometimes wrong.

Yes,

Forecast accuracy varies significantly geographically and seasonally.

Also the problem with something like the probability of precipitation is that it is not useful (as defined) everywhere. It refers to the daily total being above a trace (in the US, over 1/100th of an inch). That is not very useful in Florida, where it can rain for 10 min each day for weeks, and be bright and sunny the rest of the time. It makes more sense where I live, as precip if often associated with frontal systems and lasts for many hours.

We arrive next Thurs - 13th. As much as I would love wall to wall sunshine for our 2 week holiday, I'm more worried about snow getting in the way of me getting to the airport here in England!!

And I'm packing for every season too :goodvibes

Claire :)

since yesterday, it has changed again. Instead of rain a few showers and warmer temps. Tomorrow it is likely to change again. I'm not worried at all. I'll look on one of the local channels on the weekend before I leave Monday and go by that.

I don't care what the weather's like!

As the saying goes around here, "I'd rather be at Disney in the rain, then at home in the rain!":thumbsup2

On the last day of our trip in October there was a 60% chance of rain. I was bummed when I got up that morning and saw the forcast, but we threw the ponchos and stroller cover under the stroller and just said "its our last day...we will forge ahead in ponchos!". Well, it NEVER rained the whole day and it looked like it was gonna be a washout! You never know what you are going to get:goodvibes

It sounds like it has changed several times in the last few days. My husband looked at it over the weekend and saw nothing but sunshine with an occasional 20% chance. I'm watching closely. Here in Louisiana, we're used to odd and inaccurate forecasts. We had a 20% chance of rain yesterday, and it literally rained all day. Today, it looked like it was going to pour, but only sprinkled a bit here and there. The thunderstorms we're having now will probably be making their way over to FL in the next few days, though.
Question...how necessary will the ponchos be? We are staying for 10 days, so we won't even be staying in the parks all day. We brought them last time, but it was June. Very much needed. I was told by an Orlando local that December weather doesn't usually consist of the normal rain showers every day like in summer. True? Or just a wish? LOL!

True.

Let's all hope for good weather for all of us. I am a big believer in weather.com, and Disney World looks good next week. I would be happier if it would be about 90 degrees, but my DH wouldn't like that at all.

Hope to see you all soon!

I'm with you on that. Up north we have the next 4 months of bundling up and scraping ice off the cars. I want a full week where I don't touch a jacket (at least in the day).

90?? No thanks! We haven't even had "fall" yet. So tired of the heat! 80 has been our temps this week. I'll be happy for the 70's weather they are predicting. Perfect for being outdoors!

I know they say don't count on an Orlando, FL weather forecast being accurate until like 2 or 3 days beforehand. But it still is making me nervous seeing a week full of rain!! I should not have even looked :confused3

I hate to say it, but we REALLY, really, REALLY need rain. Orlando is like 9 inches below the normal level. Someones gotta take one for the team! :thumbsup2

I got poured on the last 2 Decembers. I'm gonna have to ask for dry weather through the 16th. ;)

I agree with mesaboy2: A week from now means absolutely nothing in Florida. And even when it says 40% chance of rain, you have a 50% chance of cloudy skies and 20% chance of a short shower. :rotfl:

Well, yes and no. We don't get the daily hard rains like in the summer, but our rain is tied to weather fronts this time of year. So if a front goes through quickly, you could have an hour or two of light to moderate rain. If it goes through slowly, you could have a half to full day of light to moderate rain. If it stalls out nearby, you could have one or more days of light to moderate rain, even a week long rain. Sometimes they pass through and then move back up north through again, and we get two days of rain a day or so apart. It's not the quick off and on rain of summer, but more of a drizzly almost northern kind of rain. Since it's not monsoon rain, you could get by with an umbrella but sometimes a poncho is easier to carry.

So definitely bring the ponchos, just in case. They don't take up all that much space when you pack, and if you need them you'll have them.

I am getting nervous! I have been looking at accuweather, as well as 3 local news forecasts...just for fun up until now. Currently there is a consistent 40% chance of rain on Tuesday and Wednesday, up to 3/4 of an inch. Booo!!

I know they need rain, but I am hoping these thunderstorms aren't quite that bad. Especially on the 12th. I am supposed to see MSEP and Wishes that evening! ;)

It keeps changing, even this close to next week. I'm not worried, I'll worry once I see the rain falling.
