Anyone else finding 6 Magic Key reservations just aren't enough?

we do DVC staycations so we have to book those days in advance, then we need NYE, so it is tight. But I think it will work once we get the system down. It was just too crowded before and not fair for those who paid full price
Are you able to book using the Hotel Bucket once your DVC reservation is linked to your account? Or are you stuck in the Annual Pass bucket? I've read the latter is the case for MK holders who have on-site hotel reservations.

Thanks for this conversation, all! We had Flex before the closure and were enjoying it. As such, I've been kinda struggling to grasp why having 6 was causing me to struggle. Granted, we have two on-site stays for holiday events and each of those stays wants to consume 2 or 3 days of park reservations. Once we are clear of those events, I figure the limit will be easier to manage and continue to allow for generally spontaneous use.

I forgot all about the Flex "good to go" days. Thanks for that reminder!

FWIW, our DVC reservations show up on my page of hotel stays (through the Disneyland site vs the DVC site) -- but I cannot book theme park reservations through the hotel page. I can see the button for booking theme park reservations but it doesn't go anywhere. I click the button, see a quick pop-up with Woody ... and then immediately return to the hotel page.

Not sure if the problem stems from my browser (Safari), account (Magic Key, DVC reservations), site issues or what??

A shorter window sounds great if you're local, but for people booking airfare and hotels, 90 days is much better than the 30-day window that existed with the FlexPass. An Enchant Pass makes sense financially for anyone that wants to schedule 2 3-day trips in a 12-month period working around the blockout dates. And once those people have "paid for" their pass with the two trips, they're more likely to schedule a third or fourth trip on the theory that admission is "free" (setting aside all of the costs to travel, stay, eat, souvenirs). My family is definitely in that category and from everything we've seen with this program and the rumored Genie+/Lightning Lane parameters, Disney is trying to pull in more of those people and fewer casual local visitors.

There are ways to solve this. For example, reservations could open up 90 days in advance but your limit could be 4 or 6 every 30 days. That way, you could start booking for the beginning of January now but hold a few days in October, November and December as well to cover monthly trips.

I'm not local. I fly or drive down from Northern California and the limits are not working for me given that it's not uncommon for different friend groups to want to go within the same month for me. Pre-pandemic, I would ask people to go to Disneyland with me. Now, I find myself trying to convince people who want to go to Disneyland to go elsewhere.

My feeling is that Disney doesn't necessarily want out of town travelers buying Magic Key passes. They'd much rather have those people buy park hoppers for those 2-3 times a year trips.

Right now you need to talk to the hotel CMs directly. Things are still getting worked out -- it was only late last week when the Hotels were able to access the hotel bucket for MKs.

Wait… what? Key holders can in fact use the hotel bucket if they are staying on property?

How? Do I need to go to the front desk and have them make a reservation for me?

from CruiseHopeful on another thread:
You won't have to. From the Disneyland website, look at your hotel reservation and click on manage reservations. There's a link to make theme park reservations. There's no reason to book through your Tickets or Magic Key if staying onsite. I saw this yesterday. If you are staying onsite, all of your days are available to start in either park.

But, for now, that link does not work for me. I see the link ... but when I click it ... I get a quick pop-up with Woody and it very quickly returns to the page of hotel reservation details. Basically, it goes nowhere.

Hopefully that problem will very soon be resolved? I think DLGal reported having some success this week after trying different browsers??
Correction: @cruisehopeful reported success with booking park reservations through the hotel bucket in the Magic Key Program thread, page 67, post #1329 and hinted of same earlier in the thread via edits.

Same for me with Safari, fine with Firefox… other than maxing my six already, lol.

This gives me new faith my first day there though!

We linked our DVC reservation via DL website and made reservation after that through the reservation details - make reservations. This pulled from the Hotel bucket. Confirmed that was NOT available for MK bucket - we got via the DVC-Hotel bucket for two days. No problem.

Firefox on my MacBook Pro also fails in same fashion. Same for Safari on my iPad. Simply "no joy" for me. Sigh.

Edited to add: All of my DLR reservations are DVC at the Grand Cal. Just in case that makes a difference.

I can't even try cruisehopeful's suggestion because I can't pull up my reservation. It's through Dapper Day group sales and doesn't show up on the Disney site.

My Dapper Days didn't exist either on the website or on my app until I tried with Edge. I have no idea why, but Microsoft Edge was able to find it and link it, where Chrome and my app both said my confirmation number wasn't valid.
