Anyone else apply for the Moms Panel?

I was just wondering if anyone else had applied for the Moms Panel, the new online planning forum where people's questions will be answered by real live Moms, such as myself?!!

I know they will only contact you if you are selected, so I am anxious to hear from some others that took the plunge. Heck, as much time as we all spend on these boards, we might as well participate. If selected, you have to agree to serve for 6 months and answer at least 8 inquiries weekly. That's a cinch! In return, you get a free trip to WDW in December for yourself and 3 others. (Okay, so we are a family of 5, but whatever!)

Anyone else go for it?

I applied back when it was first announced. My only son is grown and gone and my grandkids live 800 miles away so I see them infrequently. So I'm technically not a "Mom". You didn't need to be.

I actually just noticed on the WDW website today and it said they were at their limit of applications...10,000!!

I didn't know you could get a free trip to WDW, now I'm really bummed I missed out.

I totally agree! I tried to put stuff in there making me sound "Disney Saavy," but who knows what in the world they are going to be looking for, and I'm afraid that with 10,000 applicants EVERYONE (meaning people who aren't really Disney saavy) applied!

What I truly hope is that they take the applications and applicants VERY SERIOUSLY and truly pick deserving people. People that travel to Disney frequently, people that participate in boards like these, and people that truly know and love Disney.

I'm very nervous about the whole thing...I'm hoping that they make "preliminary" picks first....maybe contact those people, interview them (to sort of feel them out), and then pick and choose from there....

I HOPE they do not pick people based on their application alone! Those things could be totally fabricated, you know? I think they need to interview before they settle on their final selections!

I did apply also...the second day they were doing it. But you know what??? I'm sure to get picked this time. Why? Because I'm already going to WDW for that time frame . So of course, I would win a trip for the time I have already booked, and paid for!!!!
It will be interesting to see if a DISer is among those chosen...sure hope so.

I first read it at allears on the 7th...went and hurried up and filled out the essay questions...WITHOUT reading what was at stake!!!! Just thought it was some cute little internet thing....then I find out abt a Trip...and the whole scope of this thing!
But 10,000 entries??? Yikes!
We had just got back from our trip...and I drove my DH crazy by answering strangers questions...in line..at parks...restaurants...etc...lol...he said I needed a job telling people how to take their Disney trips!!! He is rooting for me!

So everyone keep us all updated!!! Would love to hear of someone making it to the next round!!!!!!!!!!!!

I applied the first day. At that time, they were taking just 5,000 applications. It was later changed to 10,000 applications. Disney also said they would pick 10 to 12 persons from the applications received.


From what I have read here, there have been a lot of Disboard members who applied.

I agree with the previous posters, it was pretty hard to describe myself and my Disney knowledge in just 300 words or less.

Let's just keep our fingers crossed that someone from these boards will be chosen.

I applied too...and you're all right...300 words isn't much to describe yourself. I worked and reworked my wording to fit it all in. I have absolutely no expectations about winning but it's always good to have a dream! Good luck everyone.

i thought it was pretty simple.. i said i love going to disneyland whenever im in florida and dining with the killer whale and that i sometimes randomly give out quarters to kids so they can save up and buy a fastpass for mission to mars or whatever.

No doubt bradk is very funny...there are some folks that have no clue where Disney World or Land are...I have some friends who have no clue....and my DH will jsut grab my hand before I gasp in horror at them...lol

It's amazing how many people will ask me "Are you going to Disneyland again?". I just politely respond that it's not Disneyland it's Disney World! When inside my head I am saying "You stupid idiot. How many times do I have to tell you it's Walt Disney World?!?! And yes you blankety blank, I am going back!"

Oh wait, I take that back. That didn't sound too Disney Mom like.
