Anyone else apply for the Moms Panel?

I also applied and will already be there the 8-16th! I'm sure chances are slim but if I even got a second reply I would be thrilled. It was only 5000 applications when I applied so maybe when they decided to accept 10,000 they will double the winners!!Good luck to all!!!!

This is from the Disney website: "We have reached our maximum capacity of 10,000 applications. Therefore, our application period has concluded at this time. Your interest in the panel is very important to us. Please come back in January and meet the panelists, ask your questions and learn how to get the most from your vacation!"

The application period was supposed to go through Oct. 5th but I seem to recall that it was shut within a few days due to the huge response. Since the site is supposed to go 'live' in January I imagine that they'd announce the winners sometime in October or early November.

I twould have to be early Nov...if they are flying down all the moms on Dec 8-12 I think!
They even made it sound like there were a few cuts/rounds before they chose the final 10-12!

It will interesting to see that is for sure!

The buzz on another Disney site is that the winners or perhaps the people that have made it to the next round were supposed to be announced on or before Nov. 2nd. That will definately be a site that I'll have bookmarked come January!!

Oh... I think they should go for the thrill of it and let people read about it on a forum like here.

I would almost imagine that if they have set dates when they want the panel to travel to WDW in December that they'd have the final 12 picked and notified by Nov. 2nd. I can't imagine too many 'rounds' other than to verify eligibility (whew, lots of "i"s in that word) of the lucky one picked.

I'd save WDW the cost of airfare and drive down!!!


DisneyBride'03 I noticed in your signature that you are making your first "trip home" this December. You will love SSR! We finally joined this year and made a short teaser trip to SSR this past May. Thought I was spoiled with resorts before but this really ruined me! We are checking out OKW and VWL in 17 days!!!!!

Oh this is a short teaser trip too!!! I just bookd it this morning!! Just 2 nights, 3 days...just ME!! No parks..just gonna shop, relax and check out the resort. We have a big trip back in June. We just bought 9/1 on our last trip!! I am so jealous you can DRIVE!!!
I want to check out other resorts too..OKW and VWL are my first 2!
The funny thing is.....I arrive on Dec 13th! I wasnt even thinking abt the Moms Panel....which ends the day before Wishful sub conscious thinking huh?

Hi! I am new to the DIS but applied to be on the Panel the second I saw it (after I finished freaking out). What a dream job!

I called my DH at work and read my answers to the questions before I submitted it (he is such a good editor ). It was tough to talk about me because all I ever talk about are our kids, but I hope I have a shot.

Question, since this is a "short term" panel, do you think they will ask for more applicants or go with the ones they didn't pick the first time?

Who knows how this panel will "pan" out....(laugh with me, people, not at me ) lol

I am so curious to see when, how, who....etc....I believe the site did mention you had to agree to 6 months if selected. Who know, they may select "NEW moms" for 6 mth intervals...give more of us a chance
Also, not all folks may travel yearly, or is some cases, 2-3 x a year to WDW...and I do recall they asked if you traveled within the last 12 months.

Waiting for news.... Hopefully someone HERE will get selected

I just went on a little search mission to see if I could find where it said when they would make a decision. I found on MousePlanet where it says winners will be notified by Nov. 2, so there should be some sort of preliminary e-mails going out soon. I know that info was originally on the Disney site but I can't access the rules anymore - none of the links are working.

I feel quite certain they won't choose applicants based exclusively on those little 300 word blurbs. They will weed through the entries, get rid of the ones that make no sense (and you KNOW there were some of those!) and narrow the field. When they have it down to a workable number (several hundred or so) then I think they will e-mail those finalists and set up some sort of phone interview or something. Or maybe send out some sample questions for potential panelists to see who can answer correctly. From there they will narrow some more, verify eligibility, and move forward choosing the 10 or 12 who will be "IT".

Keep in mind that those who are selected may very well have to sign confidentiality agreements if the panel isn't being "revealed" until January.

That would be sooooooooooo difficult not to share that excitement...but I had thought about that as well....news like that would spread like wildfire here
