Anyone else anti-tatoo?

I KNOW I am not better/superior but I just look down on people (and dare I say it...especially women who are covered), and frankly I'm embarrassed.

This is funny, because that is JUST what I think of someone that makes this kind of statement, because I KNOW I am better!
I do not have three crazy kids!

well, good! please do not look!! because I am getting my whole back done! to join the 6 others I have!
oh, and you MIGHT want to spell TATTOO, the right way! see I hate when people spell wrong!

Yikes, Natasha, relax! Just because some people don't like tattoos doesn't mean that she hates anyone with a tattoo; she just doesn't like 'em herself. She is as entitled to HER opinion as you are to yours.

AND... please don't come down on people if they happen to misspell a word, especially when your punctuation and capitalization have issues.

Agreed - TATTOO.....It's a bit funny when folks are giving people a hard time or maybe disapproving of an activity but then they spell it incorrectly.

Ok ok, I stand corrected on my spelling. Sorry about that. And I hate it when people spell wrong too. :rotfl2:

I want a small lily of the valley tattoo, in memory of my mom, and will have one when I'm able to afford it. Covered in tattoos? Nope, never could see the draw of that (eww, bad pun). Recently I was reading an article from a crime site I visit, and a guy got tattoos on his face that made him look like he got so drunk he passed out, and one of his buddies took a Sharpie to him. He had a word printed on his upper lip in the shape of a mustache, and some symbols drawn on his chin like a goatee. WOW did that look STUPID.

Aha! Here's the picture I was talking about. Bet this guy will look super-cool when (if) he ever grows up...

:lmao:

I suppose, given where it is, he could always grow a mustache and beard to cover it.

I have no problems when tattoos - I would NEVER choose to get one, though. I always think, what is so important to me now, that I would want it still branded on my body when I turn 100?

The largest tattoo out of my two is two blue birds with their wings touching over a heart. Underneath the two blue birds are the names of my children, Sean and Sydney - those will always be important to me even at 100...:) Some folks do put alot of thought/meaning behind their tattoos (I waited several years until I found the exact design I wanted) and if you do it right it can still have some major significance when they are 100.

Hate tattoos. Can handle something small and delicate but am absolutely baffled when I see entire arms and backs covered.

same here ... would never get one myself, I dont like them, they do still have negative connotations to me. And woman who tend to be covered in them ... it aint a good look ladies.

Its personal choice, I wouldnt condemn anyone for getting them done as its their choice but if my kids got them I wouldnt be happy about it.

I am not a fan of tatoos either. They do nothing for me. I just don't find them attractive at all - on men or women. Just not my thing.

I always think, "Imagine what that thing will look like when that person is in their 80's" :scared1:

Many people like them, but I don't.
ITA.
Tattoos never age well and the person's weight changes make them kind of scary after a while. Visible tats are definitely a distraction as well, perhaps that's the intention - to give the owner some form of invisibility.

When someone is in food service and has a lot of visible tattoos, it really turns me off. To me, it screams "potential Hepatitis exposure." Food Network has a TON of tattooed chefs and it's apparently part of their "cool" culture. I've turned various episodes off because the tattoos are distracting and (to me) stomach-turning.

I watched "Cupcake Wars" last night and this one contestant had a lot of tattoos, including a bird across her chest. Every closeup, that's all I could focus on, so I fast-forwarded when she was on camera.

There are some people who are freaked out by bare feet and missing teeth. I'm not, but tattoos are definitely a freak-out point for me.

Okay, then I'll repeat that I think you really need to calm down. And that maybe you should start your own thread about how you find untattooed people unattractive, if it will help you feel better.

And I'm not really sure how keeping everything lower-case and mis-punctuating your whole post is proving a point...? :confused3

ANYWAY, as I said (to get back on track and away from unnecessary insults) I see nothing wrong with tattoos, as long as they're not universally offensive, like a swastika or something along those lines.

IMHO, of course. YMMV. :flower3:

Wow! You really! seem to feel strongly about this!! tell us how you REALLY feel!!! don't hold back!!!!!!!!

I personally hate it when people use too many punctuation marks and incorrect capitalization. :rotfl:

;)

I'm not a big fan of them all over the body. To me, it's a big mess...

I am also not a fan of tattoos in different COLORS. It becomes sort of a mess if you have too many colors, IMO...

I like B&W tattoos, and think they should be able to be hidden with regular clothing. But that is me and MY opinion, and that is what was asked here. I know plenty of people covered in tattoos and like them just fine! What you do with your body is your right... it's just that not everyone who looks at you is going to like it.

With that said, my DH has two tattoos of his own, and would love more. Both are black and white, and both are hidden with clothes. To me, HIS are perfect! :thumbsup2

I don't have a problem with tattoos; DD has 3 that are all able to be covered easily. I don't get the "what will it look like when you're 80" thing though. Seriously, when you're 80, nothing will look good, lol! Who cares if your tattoo is all saggy and wrinkled? The rest of your body will be too so it won't matter:laughing:

There was a "Tattoo Love" thread a while ago, I'm sure someone can resurrect it to expound the virtues of tattoos. If posters disagree in an agreeable way, without attacking the other posters, that's allowed, afaik.

What motivates people to get tattoos? In the US, it used to be a badge of honor among the military or biker gang. The Nazis hijacked it to forcibly identify Jewish people against their will and religion. Today, it's considered cool and necessary to have a tattoo. I know a few young ladies who have various Disney characters above their ankles. In every full-length party photo, there they are with that blue-green blotch on their leg. Great legacy. (Pun intended)

Personally, I don't like them in excess. I REALLY don't like them on women. Yep, I too am judgemental, I agree I shouldn't be, each to their own etc. but I am.
I'm also an HR Manager and believe me it makes a difference. We will not hire someone with sleeves, tats on necks or on womens chests that we can easily see. It is not the impression we want to make to our customers, it is what it is, old fashioned or not tat's do have a stigma attached to them.

I don't have a real issue with the occassional one that is hidden, but full body, sleeves etc. really look ugly to me.
I really dislike vulgar tat's - our local water park has to tell people to put their shirts, pants on or gives them a large bandaide to cover offensive tat's. IMO that is just ridiculous.
