Hey! We will be driving to WDW from Gardner, Kansas. (KC suburb)
The plan: leave Fri@1pm
Stop at Mt Vernon Il (6hrs)
Sat drive to Valdosta GA (12 hrs)
Sun drive to WDW (4hrs)
Check in Sun at Pop

It will be me , DH, DD4, and DS2. (We will have DVD player!)

Has anyone made the drive? How does this sound...

We live about 20 min north of Emporia and to tell you the truth, I wouldnt even consider driving. We have been twice and flown both times and will go again next month.

My kids travel very well, but DH and I are too tired when you get there too tired when you leave. We have always driven for our vacation (Yellowstone, Pennsylvania, Tennessee) and have always been tired, and it didnt seem very relaxing always being in the van. Last year we went to WDW and it was one of the most relaxing vacations we had. We flew in, rented a car, and let Disney transportation do the rest except for the day that we went to KSC and the beach.

Hey small world...my mom lives in Gardner, and I grew up there. We have driven more times than we have flown from there. Most of our trips have been through TN and then down through GA to FL. We have driven south once or twice through MS, but I would have to get the map out to check the route we took. It isn't a bad drive either way, especially with a DVD player to entertain kids. We had one of those plug in coolers that plug into the cig. lighter. Very convienent for keeping snacks. Also came in handy when we got to FL in our room.

We have driven from Kansas to Florida several times. We usually break it up into 2 12-hour days. Last time was with 4 kids, 16, 13, 3, 1. The DVD player was a lifesaver.

rkmassa- I didn't expect to hear from someone that actually drove from Gardner :) Small world! Glad to hear it's not too bad of a drive. Thanks!
