I was wondering oi anyone drives a Kia Sedona and what you thought of it. Is it comfortable to drive? I have seen that it gets good safety ratings but consumer reports says it is not the smoothest riding minivan.

Just looking for opinions. Thanks.

I do, I do!!! :Pinkbounc

I love it!!

I bought it new in June of 2003. I really wasn't planning on buying another van but after test driving it and checking out some other vehicles, I fell in love with it. The seating is very roomy and comfortable. I remember going to test drive a Mazda Tribute. I sat in the seat and got back out and said never mind. I felt like I was sitting on a board.

We do alot of traveling with my DS's hockey so I've put alot of miles on mine and I've never had any problems with anything!! It has plenty of room even in both back seats (I've sat in both).

As a matter of fact, I miss my KIA. My DM went on a trip to Michigan and I let her borrow it. I'm driving her car which is nice but I love my van!!

If you have any other questions, let me know.

hockeymom7691, Thanks for your opinion on the Sedona. I have another question. How is it to drive? I have read that it is "stiff" and hard to handle. It doesn't feel like you are driving a tank, does it?

All the safety reports I have seen give it good ratings and I am seeing a lot more of them on the road lately. They are offering good financing rates now.

I don't have one and I have actually never been in one. I have however seen one after a minor front end accident and I would not want to be in it. The sheet metal on the front fenders was so soft and flimsy that I could move it back and forth with my bare hands. That's not good. I worked as a Claims Adjuster and have learned a lot about the body of cars, damages and repairs and injuries. This vehicle was hit in the front corner, the headlight, left fender and wheel well. The entire frame of the vehicle shifted to the right so that it was no longer a straight frame from front to back. While the passangers where safe and no one was injuried the vehicle, which was a 2002 and this was in 2003, was totalled. The cost to repair/replace the frame far out weighed the value of the vehicle. You can probally bet though that the owner owed more on the loan then the van was worth.

I have read the safety ratings and I have heard a lot of good things about them. However that one incident weighs on my mind and I would not purchase a vehicle such as a KIA or Hyundai. There is a reason that they are less expensive and I don't want ot take the chance of some jerk hitting me and totalling my vehicle and then being caught in the upside down position. Though their insurance would replace the value of the vehicle they don't care if you owe more than that value.

Just my two cents!!!

I have a Kia, just a different model and I cannot stress to you how AWFUL our experience with the company has been. Unfortunate too because I like the car, but I will never buy from them again. Please check with your better business bureau and consumer protection agency before you buy from anyone but especially Kia. All of the kia dealerships where I live have been kicked out of the BBB for not settling the complaints against them and they are only about 12 seconds aware from being put on our states "Buyer Beware" list for Consumer Protection. I found that out the hard way and wouldn't want anyone else to go through this.

Yes, our dealership is bad but a lot of what is happening goes right to the core of the company as far as warranties not being honored and such. I'd walk before I'd ever buy another one of their cars. Of course, I'm stuck with mine til the litigation is over!

Good Luck with what you choose.

Thank guys. I really appreciate all the opinions and info. Maybe I will look into a Mazda MPV.

I don't think it's stiff at all. Definitely not a tank.

I also work at a very large insurance company and I can check with our claim adjusters and see what they've seen as far as accidents/etc with the KIA's.

Send me a PM if you want me to check it out.
