It sounds like this is a new package (or i am just finding out about it). Have you done this? I read that the pixar show is ~40 minutes and then the Fantasmic show is ~25 minutes, but even with the package we felt getting there 20 minutes ahead got us good seats. That just seems like a lot of time in shows although great to see both from what it sounds.

I am wondering what your thoughts are on the package -- worth it? do you really need the package to get good seats for pixar?

Our next trip is in April and i don't even know if the pixar show will be running then or if it is just a short summer addition, but we were already planning on the fantasmic dinner package so adding on the pixar, if available is the only question.

I know i have some time, but i know our dining reservation window will be here before we know it.

We did this package a week and a half ago and I thought it was definitely worthwhile for our family. We ate at Mama Melrose and paid out of pocket for the package. We arrived at the Pixar show about 15 minutes before the start time and at Fantasmic about 12 minutes before start. For Pixar, we were about 1/2 way up the reserved section and for F! we chose to take an empty bench down in the "splash zone", about 5 rows up from the bottom in the reserved section. For both, we were a bit later than they recommended, but loved the area we received. It was nice not having to worry about getting in early (especially for F!) and since I was planning on surprising the family with a meal at MM anyway, it worked out well for our family.

No you don't need the dining package for Pixar if you don't want it. You can show up 15/20 min prior and get great seats.

Pixar is scheduled to end at the end of August. No word on if it'll continue.

You also don't need the dining package for Fantasmic either, but if you're already planning on eating at one of those restaurants then you might as well. Regardless if you do dining plan, FP, or standby, I'd recommend getting to the Fantasmic arena about 45 min prior to showtime for best choice of seats. If it's a second show then you can arrive closer and be fine. If it's one show that night and there's a lot of people they usually open up all seating areas about 10-15 min prior to showtime to fill everyone in. So just be aware and not think you can show up 5 min prior and have reserved seats. Earlier the better

We are doing this in August (Pixar was the reason for the extra trip). We have lunch planned at MM. We plan to bring leftovers back to room, as meals are huge. We are doing the earlier Pixar so there will be plenty of time to just wander before Fantasmic.
