Have a safe trip home! I have a buddy who is a snowbird and is leaving his rental early and is leaving Saturday for home as well. I was teasing him that he had to wait for the beaches to close!

We arrived safe and sound (and still healthy) early afternoon. Decompressing from the long drive now (a couple of leftover Michelob Ultras to take care of that). Since I have 2 weeks of nothing but time on my hand, I will probably post back soon on some of my observations about the USA in pandemic, and the drive home.

How did your son fare? You said your daughter was living at your place because your son (who's with your ex) might have it. Are they both okay? Is your daughter back at her mom's house now?

What was immediately noticeable was the further north we drove the less traffic and no one outside or in shopping areas.
At gas stations people were going about business as usual with locals hanging out buying lottery tickets not maintaining any degree of social distance.
Lots of traffic in northern Florida/Georgia as beaches had just closed.

Everyone appears to be okay. DS and his mom have both recovered. No idea if it was the actual virus or not. She minds a child who's family traveled internationally to a location with a known outbreak, and both he and his dad were sick shortly after returning. No one was recommended for testing however. Makes you wonder how many cases really go uncounted out there - that's 4 potential cases that we'll never know. I understand that is happening across the city, probably the country and even the continent. Medical professionals are not sending for testing unless the symptoms are severe.

By delaying our return from the south, we bought DD enough time to feel comfortable returning home. That means she is not housebound by us as we practice self-isolation for the next two weeks. She still has a job for two more days until her store gets shut down.

She is a great kid - had us fully stocked up with groceries when we returned, so we have a fantastic menu for the next couple of weeks, and lots of time for cooking.
