Late nights only (5p-close) and no early mornings except Christmas Day morning? Does this work? We are staying on property at POP with our own car we can drive or not. No small kids.

We're late nighters, and it has always worked for us. We don't even do an early morning on Christmas Day. The parks, especially MK, have such late hours that we're able to sleep in and tour when the crowds aren't completely insane. I'm not sure what adjustments we'll need to make this year since it's strictly FP+ now, but I doubt we'll tour much differently than we have in the past.

How late do you get to the parks? We're WDW regulars, but never been Christmas before. We are worried about the capacity closings on 24th and 25th and think we might have to stay in the parks all day. I'd love to know the times, historically, that people have been able to get into the parks in the evenings. It would be so nice to be able to return to our DVC resort for a break and get back into the park after dark.

We always go to AK on Christmas Day. It's actually not too bad. Everyone is trying to cram themselves into MK and EPCOT, while AK is half empty. :)

I don't know about 5pm, but at 10pm the crowds really start to thin out at MK. It becomes quite pleasant late night.

Also curious about this. I'm assuming most capacity closings happen mid-day and the parks start to re-open by dusk, or as they clear out?

I've noticed that when the days are shorter (like at Christmastime), people seem to leave earlier. You can get a lot done late nights. Especially in Fantasyland.

Good to know. This all gives me some hope. We have always been an off season fall, rope drop family but I was trying to think outside the box this time with these crowds. After all I am really focused on evening Christmas lights, fireworks and parades. I keep reading in my research that if MK closes it generally opens back up by 4-5pm except on NYE.
