Anybody ever vacation in the White Mountains (NH)?

Great 'local' trip! There is a LOT to do there too!

Last year we stayed at 'Jellystone' Park - on the other side of the kangamangas highway- we saw 3 moose driving that highway (the highlight of the trip for DH and I!)
in a 'rustic' cabin-
The kids had a blast reg pool -0 depth entry pool, candy bar bingo, arts and crafts, arcade with pacman, (very hokey and I am not in a mad rush to go back!)

This year I thonk we are going up in August! we might just drive up and find a place when we get there - because there are SO many!

I'm just wondering if the Entertainment book for southern NH covers the whole state? Concord north to the Lakes Region is considered central NH........the White mountains are at LEAST an hour from here...........

Check out the accomodations at the Waterville Valley as well as the Attitash ski areas. They have all types of lodging........

We live in the next town from Conway. All recommendations made here are good. It all depends upon what you want. There is the Storyland Motel right at the corner of Routes 16 and 302 in Bartlett. My SIL has stayed there and says it is nice. It is a very short distance to Storyland (of course), some good restaurants, not far from the Mt. Washington Auto Road and the Wildcat Mountain ski area (with summer gondola rides to the summit - it looks right at Mt. Washington's Tuckerman's Ravine).
