Just wondering if it is worth it? Sounds great but you never know. I think it is $34 for each adult and $18 for each child, so it would be about $104 for us before tax/tip. What do you think?

It's a whale of an idea but I'm not sure what it has to do with Disney! I would advise against ordering seafood while dining with him. You don't need a killer whale upset with you.

I have tickets but it wil be the first time for us. I've read that many people loved it and I was curious, so I bought the vouchers. I'm looking forward to it and hoping not to get wet!

Hi There

We did dinner with shamu in January of '04. It was okay. The kids loved it so I guess that would be the point. The food was plentiful as was soda beer and wine. The adult fare was very average buffet--nothihng special, no nice carved meats or anything like that. The kids food was better. Lots of chicken fingers etc--just what they ike and the desserts were fun--shamu cookies, etc. Be aware that if you get a table directly around the perimeter of the tank it is great. We did. But if you get seated across the aisle from there against the outside wall it stinks. I wouuld have been really annoyed at paying that much if I had been seated there. There was Qand A with the trainers and shamu did come up very very close. Probably worth it once, but I don't think we would do it again. Have fun! - :flower:

I'm having a Dine with Shamu experience, but they ask about type of Setting, :confused3 What is the Difference between 1 setting and 2setting?

We just had our dinner with shamu on 5/6, the 1 seating our the tables in front, the ones closet to the water, and 2 seating is behind the 1 seating. The tables our very close together, so even if you got seating 2, you still have a good view. The food was good nothing real fantastic, like someone posted earlier, the kids food is pretty good! It is a neat experience, but doubt if we would do it again. We were in 1 seating but put on the very end by the slide up, most of the whale action seemed to be in the middle.

At some busy times of the year, there are 2 "seatings", one early and one later. Basically, Dine with Shamu is offered at two different times that day.

I agree there are 2 rows of tables, but I don't think you can request a row. They are supposed to be filled in order of reservation, front row fills up first, then 2nd row. I think the "seatings" refer to the different times.

We have our reservation for Dinner with Shamu in October.. I was told that when you arrive, if you asked for tier two dinner you need to check at guest services to ensure there is a 2nd dinner that night. If they don't have enough guests they move it to the first seating.

We are DVC Members and we just love Sea World....Shamu and the Klysdales---awesome!!! We did Dine with Shamu and we loved it---so close to the whale!!! Would do again!!! Food not great, just OK....but who goes there for the food????? Have A great time :flower:

Just dined with the big guy on May 25th - great experience! I was somewhat worried that four adults wouldn't be that interested but we all enjoyed it a great deal.

Food was buffet style - we're not fans of buffet dining but in our opinion this meal was better than the standard Disney buffet fare. No carved meats and fewer offerings than a Disney buffet but the food was better/more to our liking. Carrot cake was excellent. :-)

We *did* get wet - luckily it was at the end of the meal. In fact, I have a real suspicion that the whale (not Shamu, btw) was instructed to get us wet. I wasn't watching closely at that moment so can't say for sure...

Many interesting facts about whales in general, and specifically about the two whales we were watching. The trainer came over and visited after the meal.

We'd most definitely Dine With Shamu again though it makes for a very long day. We're generally out of there by 4:00 at the latest - our dinner (one seating that night) was at 5:15.

We were very pleased with our seating (front row). A couple of other parties near us in row two were putting up a stink and that made things less pleasant but Sea World can't be faulted for that. Don't know if I missed it or if it wasn't mentioned, but gratuities are *not* included - no biggie, I did have some cash with me, but it was a surprise.

My wife and I went right after they started this a few years back. we really emjoyed it as well as the food. I felt the only thing I wish could have happen was the show at the time I thought needed some work. There was not that much going on except for him swiming around. The trainers did show a couple of small things. I think it is nice though.
