Anybody else feel like you enter a time warp when you go to Disney?

I usually start dreading the end by day 2 or 3. I'm useless by the last day and usually want to hurry and pack my stuff and go since leaving is inevitable, because I'm making myself miserable being depressed. We started out with a 4 day trip, then 5, then 8, and no matter how many days we stay, I start dreading leaving earlier each trip. I always cry as we pass through the gates on our way out.

I would love to help you out but someone made it for me quite a while ago. I have no idea how they made it or where they got it. You are welcome to copy it from me and delete my name if you can.

Thanks, but I wasn't able to edit it. It's really cute. :goodvibes

I know EXACTLY what you mean!!! It starts for me from the morning of the first full day- I'm already calculating in my head... "ok- last night's done now we only have 7 full days left..." I'm a mess. I admit it.

We leave in two days for 8 full days in the world. TOTALLY can't wait- I am planning on making every second as memorable as can be. I hope it doesn't fly by too quickly!!!

We usually go for ten days at a time.
The first 5 are slow and funfilled but the last 5 feel like 2!

That's the way to make it "last"... we just got back from 11 days.

I like to stay as long as I can so that the first 4-5 days I can say, we're not even HALF-WAY through the trip yet.

Then its, "We've still got as long LEFT as we've BEEN here.

Next, "Still 3 more nights, longer than a weekend.

Then, "Another WHOLE day and MOST of the LAST one.

Then (last morning there), "We really had a great time, but I'm ready to go sleep in my own bed."

Then, at the airport as we leave Orlando, " Just a few more months until we COME BACK!"

Yep, we've got "ADD"...

"Addicted to Doin' Disney"!

No doubt, Disney clocks do tick faster! I think a scientific study has been done to verify this. :thumbsup2 It does add though to the feel of truly being away from the "real world".

I look down at my watch sometimes after a day in the park, and say there is no way in the world it's already 6 PM.

Same feeling here

15 day trip.. First day.. Whaw another 14 to go... on day 15; WHAT, is is the last day ALREADY.... I could stay there even longer

There's a currently active variation of this subject on another thread on this board, which raises the question "is ten days too much?"

Personally, I'm not with the "more is always better" crowd on that - every family/party is different, and I feel fantasy/theme park burnout can become an issue with some people after more than a week. In other words, in some situations there is such a thing as "too much of a good thing." We did 11 days last August (a well-designed stay on property). Even taking our time to "smell the roses," looking back we were definitely starting to "hit the wall" around day 8!!

Yep, the time does fly on vacation.

It's so amazing how the week before we leave crawls so slowly, but the time we are there just flies by.

We have also adopted the "Plan the Next Trip As Soon As We Get Home" plan. It makes things a little easier.

OH MY GOSH !!!
You Have Hit the Nail Right on the Head !!!
The Last Night is SOOOOOOOO Depressing, knowing all that planning, preparing, packing, excitement, hours on the DIS Boards, researching etc.....AND Ka-Plooie.....its done in a flash.....zooommmm
Thought the same thing...."Wow, we have 8 days.....so much time"....But alas, time grows wings and soars way to quickly !! :hourglass pixiedust:

This is ME!! We leave next week and I am already down about how I'll feel when we return!

I know the feeling...Its that feeling you get when you exit a park and know you won't be back until next trip....getting that one last glace. Or the feeling when I take my pin lanyard off for the last time upon returning home. Or, the feeling you get on the monorail when you know its your last ride for the trip. I still do this...but I like to chant along w/ the announcer in the car whenever he says 'Please Stand Clear of the Doors" and then says it in Spanish. Lol..I'm a nerd, I know. But seriously, when you are riding in the monorail early in your trip and you hear the announcer say "If this concludes your visit to the Walt Disney World Resort, we hope you return home safely."...you just ignore it becuase you know you have more days. But then the sad feeling comes when you hear it on the last day. Lately, I have learned to accept the fact that vacations do end...and if you don't go home, you can't get excited about coming back. BUT...for some odd reason...I still get sad because I wish I could just live at WDW, and then I would not have that problem. But here back in normal life...I always have my memories in my mind..DIS and Live365 radio to get me through. I can't wait until my next escape....

YES!! Time seems to fly WAY too fast! That is why I believe the anticipation and planning stages to be half the fun! lol I remember as we left the Grand Floridian last year we were all saddened to go. I looked around the room for a last minute check to make sure we had everything and then I saw this paper (a piece of folded up paper that I had continuously tried to throw out throughout the vacation but somehow it always appeared back on the table lol) Anyway, I finally picked it up and opened it and this is exactly what it said:

"Enjoy your stay at the Grand Floridian Resort! Please make the most of the views from the balconies! Time flies here, so make every moment magical! Sincerely, The people who were here before you"

This was from last July and reading this note was really just as magical as ever. I know that sounds odd but it really was touching lol. The way it was folded, I could not believe one of the maids did not thrown it out or why no matter how much I tired to throw it out (unknowing of its contents), it appeared in plain view once again!

I still have that note and keep it folded just the same. Just thinking about all the memories created in that one room, that one resort, that one world, and how fast that time "whooses" by. That note was written at the end of an obviously pleasant vacation had, and read at the end of an extremely pleasant vacation.

I guess the point I want to get across is, that note speaks more truth than some people probably realize! :p

Who here wear mouse ears to the park? I have my 50th anniversary gold ones...and even though I am 20..insist on wearing them to the parks while at WDW. Some people give me weird looks..but I don't care because I feel special!!
Funny story:
Heading to AK one morning in January, I put my ears upon my head and fastened them tight w/ two bobby pins to be sure they did not fly off during the day. My Daddy, sisters and I had just been seated at Primevil Whirl, and our car was moved to the check point before it was to head out onto the ride. The CM checked our safety bar and turns to me and says: "Ma'am, you may want to remove those ears. They may fall off during the ride." Not knowing how silly this must of sounded, I turned ot her and said: "Oh, that's ok! They are attached to my head!". Lol, I will never live that one down. My family still teases me for it!

"Enjoy your stay at the Grand Floridian Resort! Please make the most of the views from the balconies! Time flies here, so make every moment magical! Sincerely, The people who were here before you"

This is good advice about life in general. Just take out GFR and substitute "Earth"! :rolleyes2

As for the OP, yes it does seem like a time warp but fortunately to counteract this effect you also forget all your troubles for the time, no matter how quick! :wizard:

I hate going on vacation because not only does the time go by so fast, but we have to get used to a 6 hour difference. :guilty:

I use to feel like I was dreaming the whole thing. It was like my everyday life had a pattern to it and it seemed normal. WDW time was a totally different thing. I'd want to pinch myself while I was at the parks just to be sure I was really there.

It wasn't until I moved down here that things took on a more everyday type of feel.

BTW, it's a great feeling! :Pinkbounc
