any1 going in december 17 2005 on the west

I'm upset because I was TOLD this would not be a problem...if they had told me I would not be able to, then I wouldn't be upset. I'm not trying to book Palo or spa ressies for the whole world, just keep my family together on excursions. Again, I was TOLD by a DCL agent weeks ago when I booked the REAS that I would be able to.

 We will be cancelling our cruise next week.
We booked this cruise so long ago. The school calendar wasn't out yet, but I booked this week from the dates of Christmas break for the last 2 years. The school calendar came out last April and Christmas break doesn't start until Dec 21 this year. We thought fine, the boys would miss 3 days of school. Open house was last week at the high school. My DS (16) is in two advance placement classes and they wouldn't reccommend him missing that many days. We have had a family meeting and decided to cancel this cruise with the hope of cruising at a later date. I'll stay upto date on this thread and hope for a live report during your cruise. I wish I could transfer my early dining to someone here who is wanting it. We will be cancelling rooms 2014 and 2016.
Have a great cruise,
Kathy

That's terrible! I guess that agent just wanted to make a sale. I still think you should be able to go in place of your husband on that booked excursion, so things will work out in the end.

Sorry to hear you have to cancel your trip. What a disappointment. We too, booked a long time ago expecting the Christmas break to be the same as it has been. We recently found out that it is different this year and now the kids are going to miss some extra time at school. I wasn't impressed but we have talked to our son's principal and he thought it should be okay. He is 17. We haven't talked to our two little girls' principal but they are only in grades 2 and 4 so we are hoping it won't create too much of a problem for them. The week before Christmas is a lot of playing, preparing for the concert, watching movies, etc. Basically waiting for the break to arrive, I think. I sure hope we don't end up with any problems for the children. School starts next week here and we will get in pretty quick to speak with the principal and teachers.

Hope you are able to book another cruise sometime.

Take care,

Kathy - so sorry to hear that you will not be joining us but i totally understand. I knew when I booked that DS would miss a few days but our system allows for that as well as Drew being able to miss a few days. We have not had open house yet but I do not expect any of his teachers to have a problem.

Kelley - try calling again, you may get a different response. Although I can't believe that she would not put you through to her supervisor.

Hope everyone is enjoying their holiday weekend! Fall is in the air (50 degrees out right now but was in the 40's earlier) and the leaves have started to turn. Guess those green tomoatoes in the garden will not turn red.

I'm so sorry your cancelling your cruise.
I find it so hard to believe that the school and teachers would not work with you on this. We had a similar problem with 2 of our kids, then high school age. We explained everything to each teacher first, and arranged for the kids to do tests after school on the last day so they would not be behind, and could not tell others what was on the tests. And since we already had all the problems worked out, the school had no problems approving it. The kids had exellant attendance records and descent grades, which may have helped, I dont know. I wish you could try again before you actually cancel your trip. Tell them how long ago you had this planned. Or maybe DCL might have an opening during the kids break and you could change. I'm sure there would be a difference in the price, but maybe worth looking into.
I'm sending pixie dust your way to help you get through this. I wish you all the best and let us hear from you if you get to rebook another time.
Good luck,

Howdy,
Well my bad news is both our sons and their wifes have fairly new jobs and wont be able to go with us. So Randy, Chris, Peter and Emerald wont be coming. Thank goodness our daughters and grandkids will still be coming and everyone will be at our house for Christmas, a first in many years to all be together.
Now for the good news, since we cancelled their rooms, my DH took some of the money we saved and upgraded us to a Verandah!!!! I dont know the room number yet, we will get that next month when we pay it off, then I'll post it for everyone.
Well I'm out the door to spend the day at Epcot do satisfy my Disney craving. I'm going to buy the Pirates of the Carribbean necklace for my pirates outfit. Now I just need to get the rest of the outift.

Kathy - sorry you have lost more of your family from our cruise roster. Hope you had a good day at Epcot today - I am jealous that you live so close and it is so easy for you to get to WDW.

Hope everyone else had a good weekend. 14 weeks from this coming Friday we fly to MCO - it is getting closer. Have a good week everyone - and have a good first day of school to those starting tomorrow.

Yesterday, I was finally able to get in touch with Debbie Wargo. I love it when Disney people treat you how you would expect to be treated by Disney. She said she didn't know why they wouldn't help me on Saturday, but that we could take care of things. We now have the private room at Palo reserved for brunch on Thursday, and my whole family (only 5 of us...just in 2 diff rooms) are reserved on the same excursions. YEAH! I knew Disney wouldn't let me down, I was just so disappointed in the level of service and the attitude of the rep I spoke with on Saturday. Believe me that Disney is going to hear about this...and about how wonderful Debbie is. She handled the Palo, and was able to steer me in the right direction for the excursions. :flower:

Kelley- I thought you just needed to speak with the right person. No one does cusotmer service like Disney.

Hope everyone is having a great week and are adjusting to the routines that go with school being back in session - I frankly have no idea how I managed when all three of mine were in school as DS#3 is wearing me out!

Kelley - are we on the same cruise??? Your counter and mine are 2 days off!
:rotfl2: I have not counted - just keep looking at that, maybe I need to look into it...

Kelly,
I'm so glad you got everything taken care of. Sometimes it really makes a difference who you talk to. now you can relax and enjoy the anticipation of the cruise.

100 days by my calendar!!!

As of 5:00 this evening, we are officially UNDER 100 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:wave2: I don't think I can wait any longer. We are all getting so excited for this cruise. I have started my packng list (used the same list from last year put added alot more items), made my door signs, made our t-shirts, girls have there pirate costumes, still need DH and my costumes. I still can not decide 100% about REAS. I really want to do it but after reading the boards I get mixed feelings about it. I had it booked a few months ago and cancelled them and now I am 50/50. I am doing this as a surprise for my DH. If he knew I was thinking about doing it he would say yes, so why haven't I booked it yet, LOL. I am paying for it and I am cheap LOL. I am afraid it will not be worth it and I can use the $300+ and spend it on more excursions for the whole family. :confused3

well time for some more message boards. See you all real soon :wave2:

Hugs
Tami

Have we decided on a meeting place and time yet to finally meet everyone? We should all pick up the green mickey paint chips and make name tags when we finally meet.

I don't think we have decided on a meeting time. Having cruised before I like the Saturday afternoon at 3:00 in the Promenade Lounge or by one of the pools but that has caused problems before so I think if we do anything on Saturday we should also try again for Monday maybe for lunch.
Doing one on our first sea day makes sure that everyone is on board and situated. Just my two cents.

Hi everyone,
I'm finally getting down to getting ready for this cruise, but I need your help with a question I have. This is my first time for making a door sign. I have seen many pictures on line, but I cant tell the size. Are you using a 8x10 or a 11 x 14? I know there is a round door decal about 1/3 rd of the way down the door, so i dont want to be on top of it. How much room do i have?
How about on either side of the decal? Is there enough room there too or does the sign need to be above or below the decal? HELP!!!! PLEASE!!!
Thanks in advance,

P.S. We could meet either day, but I think the first day may be the best, as by day 2 lots of people have started doing all kinds of fun things and it may be hard to fit in a meet. I know our family will be scattered throughout the ship right after dinner the first night, and will stay that way for the entire cruise. Just my thoughts. Let's hear from everyone about this, we may have to have 2 meets and just hope that between both times we will all connect at some point.

Hello Everyone:

I am doing the happy dance now. Our cruise is paid in full. Did our seat selection on the plane today for on the way there, got our Radio City Christmas Spectular tickets for December 28, got our priority seating reservations for the Candlelight Processional for December 29 and am sure hoping to get our Cinderella's Royal Table breakfast tickets tomorrow morning for December 12. That is our anniversary so I sure hope we can get in for then. I hear the tickets go so fast that within five minutes if you haven't got them then you are out of luck. I am also hoping to make reservations for supper that night and order a cake. Will be my surprise to my husband. Things are definitely coming together for our vacation. Sent our passport forms in today as well. Must call Shirley's soon to arrange for baskets for my children. I want to surprise them with a beautiful basket each when we arrive on the ship.

As for the meeting time, I think Saturday at 3 pm sounds good. I would like to meet people before our cruise is partly over. Another meeting on Monday may be good as well but I would like one on Saturday.

Have done some thinking about our door sign but haven't made one yet.

Take care,

The reason I suggested two meets is because we only had one the last time we were on the Magic and several people missed it due to unexpected travel delays or getting caught up in all the excitement of boarding, lunch etc.

If everyone is OK with Saturday at 3:00pm in the Promenade Lounge then let's make that official.

Do we have any new comers that have not gotten a copy of our cruise list? Just PM me with your names, where from, children ages, special events etc and your email and I will add you to the list and send you a copy. It's getting closer...... :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

saturday at 3 in the promenade is ok with us and our family.
If anyone is arriving too late for this time, please speak up! We dont want anyone to miss out just because you wont be getting to the ship by then. Please let us know, otherwise count us in for 3 at P L
