Hi Sandra,
I was just re-reading some older posts to remind me who all was going on this cruise and If I read one item you wrote correctly, you stated your anniversary was 12/12? Is that correct? The reason I ask is that is my anniversary also! That would be a weird coincidence if we had the same anniversary, but I'm sure the year will be quit different as we are going to have 32 anniversary this december. Well just curious, let me know.

Hi Kathy:

You most definitely did read correctly and that is just such a weird coincidence that we would have the same anniversary date. Our years are different but not by all that much. Ours will be 24 this year and 25 next year which is why we booked the 10-day holiday cruise for 2006.

Take care,

Well Florida has had another hurricane come and go again. :sunny:
Luckily for us, this time we only had some rain and a few wind gusts. :umbrella: It is very cloudy today with big black clouds outside. They are from the outer bands of the hurricane. At least it helped to cool it off some.
I'm sure there will be more to come since we still have several weeks to go before the season is over.
I didnt get out to shop for cruise stuff today because I wasnt sure what the weather was going to be, so next week I have to get started with getting prepared for the cruise. I'm hoping some of the halloween stuff will start popping up in the stores so I can see what Pirate stuff pirate: they have to offer.
Time is flying by now for me.
Take care everyone, :wave2:

Kathy, we had alot rain also. 2 palms fell down and alot of neighbors trees fell down also. I wish hurricane season would be over. Wouldn't that be nice, then we would have only 17 days until the cruise, :rotfl:

I am in the process of making magnetic signs for the door. We still need to find hubby and myself a pirate outfit. I am sure next week the halloween stuff will be out.

Is anyone going to do the REAS package? I am going to book that online Sept 2 (105 days out) according to Disney. I thought I had booked it thru my TA but disney says I have to book it thru them. I can't decide if I wan to do Palo's brunch or dinner. I have read that the brunch is better then dinner. Anyone have any suggestions or comments about Palo's?

What excursions are you all going to do? I think we may do the Stringray one in the Cayman's. We are not positive yet. I know for the Keys, since we go there often, we will just walk around and shop. That about all I have planned for the trip so far.

Well I am off to search the boards. have a great day everyone :wave2:

Tami,
We are doing the REAS as well...we will definitely do Palo for brunch...we have too much fun during dinner to miss out on that (there are 20 of us traveling together). Just be aware that you cannot book the REAS pkg online unless you do it at the time of booking...you'll have to call and speak to a human type. I can't wait to make my final payment, and then book all my excursions! We are gonna do Key West on our own...then at GC we're doing the Island Tour...possibly with the stingrays as well, but not sure about the $$ at the moment. At Cozumel, we'll do the island tour and beach break. My kids have their own snorkel gear (Target-$15 for the whole set! :flower: ) tthat we know works for them, and we'll bring that...they can use it at CC. I think at CC, we're gonna do the family beach thing in the AM (after DD and I parasail), then after lunch at Cookies-yummy-we're taking them to groupers, and heading the Serenity Bay.
Well, I've got to go off to work. How many more days????

Thanks Kelley for the info on REAS. I will call Disney tomorrow and see what I can do. We have paid in full and other people have booked online before so I am not sure how they are doing it but I can not do it.

I have been playing around and making signs today. I have made three and getting ready to make shirts. I am not sure how to post them on this message board. I am clueless when it comes to this kind of stuff, LOL. If anyone knows can you email me.

I went to Wal-Mart today and they were stocking up for Halloween. They have some cute Pirate stuff but no costumes for adults yet. they said this coming weekend more adult costumes will come in.

Well i am off to search the web. have a great night,

Tami

Tami,
Sorry to hear that you lost a couple of trees. We have been very lucky with the hurricanes last year and this year, so far. Last year we got hit 3 out of 4 hurricanes and all our neighbors lost trees, roofs etc. We did nt even lose a shingle. I guess our guardian angel was watching over us. I did feel funny when all the neighbors had damage and we didnt. Actually we did have a small oak tree, only 6 foot tall that spun around circles and then layed down flat. we had to steak it up again, but no house damage.
I dont know if we have any fellow cruisers in the path of Katrina up in Mississippi and New Orleans. Guess we'll hear later if we do. My heart goes out to all those people in Katrina's path. I know the feeling of waiting and wondering about those storms when they come through. I know you know this feeling too.
Well we are still cloudy and rainy from Katrina, wish it would clear up some, but guess we will have a couple of more days of clouds.
We went to Epcot yesterday, and just after we went through the entrance it poured rain on us. So we calmly walked to the first gift shop by the Sphere for about 10 minutes, then the rain quit. We were drenched, but it was so hot out it felt really good. It helped to keep us cool til we dried, which didnt take very long. The rest of the day was cloudy, but dry. Just as we were leaving it started to sprinkle some. So guess we were lucky with the weather. I looked at all the pirate stuff there. Most is too spendy, but some stuff you cant find anywhere else and it's so cool. I'm going to buy a couple of things with my disney rewards card , that way I dont feel like I've spent any money to get it. I also found a Goofy watch that i'm thinking of buying for myself. But will have to think about it, it's $40 and I can get a watch at wal mart for $6, of course it doesnt have goofy on it!
Well time to go and look at excursions, we still havnt decided what we're going to do, accept at Key West we are just going to walk and shop, maybe do the ship wreck museum or something near the shopping area. No real excursion there as we can drive there when ever we want.
Have a great week,
Kathy

I just read on the Allears newsletter that there is now going to be staggered dining on the Magic for our cruise. I know they were doing it on the Wonder, does anyone know how it went? Anyway, here is the info from the newsletter:

"Staggered Dining Aboard the Disney Cruise Ships - Earlier this year, the Disney Wonder cruise ship began experimenting with staggered dining times. Seems the test period is over and staggered dining is now here to stay! In addition, the new dining times will be tested on the Disney Magic from October 29, 2005 through January 28, 2006. If you have the early seating, you will be dining at either 5:45 p.m., 6:00 p.m. or 6:15 p.m. Cruisers on the late seating will be dining at either 8:00 p.m., 8:15 p.m. or 8:30 p.m. Times can be requested but are not guaranteed."

Thanks everyone, I would love to hear what people think! :wave2:

Hello Everyone:

We are so excited here today because it is 100 days today until we leave for our trip. The cruise is a bit longer than that but we are spending some time in Orlando before the cruise. It is so hard to believe that we have taken 509 paper clips off our chain. It is much shorter than when we started. It had initially gone across the top of all the kitchen cupboards and remaining sat in quite a pile at the end. Now we can see the end of the chain. That is so exciting.

I must start to think more about our door signs. Five of us have our pirate costumes now so that is good. Just three more to find. We are hoping there will be something half decent out soon for Halloween. Will check this coming weekend. Not sure how the new supper times are going to work. I hope we get the earliest time possible though.

Take care,

I am not sure if anyone from our cruise has been directly impacted by the devastation of the storm but I just wanted to pass along that my thoughts are with you. I have been watching CNN pretty constantly since Monday and am in total disbelief over the magnitude of it.
Anyway, I just wanted to pass that along, take care.

Laura :wave2:

Laura,
I think we are all in disbelief about Katrina. I have been following the story closely too. WE were hit 3 out of 4 hurricanes last year, but it was nothing like what these poor people are going through. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those thousands of people, I know that the professional rescue crews are working around the clock doing all they can to save as many as they can, and it still isn't enough. I guess words just cant describe the horror and devistation they are facing. We are truely blessed here to have food, water and shelter.

I too feel for all the people that this tragedy will effect...the far reaching and not thought of impact it will have is beyond comprehension for my family.

THAT SAID, I'm sorry if this seems petty right now, but I have to do a jig b/c we're
PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIID IN FULL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Saturday morning I'll be able to do reservations b/c we have REAS!
My only concern is: we have 2 rooms, and clearly the REAS is only linked to 1 room, so can I book excursions for the other room??? I think I need to call DCL! Anybody got Debbie's number???

Tonight we were doing the paid in full dance alongside Kelley at TaeKwonDo. Of course, we are only paid in full as far as DCL is concerned, not the credit card company!! :rolleyes1

Good Saturday everyone! Hope our group is all safe and sound. My heart goes out to all those that have been effected by Katrina. It really puts into perspective how blessed we are, doesn't it.

Has anyone done any research on excursions yet? I have Native Way booked for Grand Cayman but have no idea what I would like to do for Cozumel - probably just a beach day. I considered the Tulum Ruins but I am not sure that I want to do all of that travelling to get there and back with potentially rough seas and seasick family (namely DH). I also need to get an envelope mailed to Shirley from The Perfect Gift so she can fill it up for me with things in Key West.

What is this? What kind of things will Shirley put in there? Will she do it for everyone? If so, what is her address?

Made our reservations for Palo, massages, and Rasual Bath this morning, based on the website, I guess you can't make Alpha Capsule and hair appointments online. But we got the times we wanted on everything else.

You need a LARGE manilla envelope - make it self addressed including your return address and put about $4.00 worth of stamps on it and mail it down to the shop at 6550 North Atlantic Avenue, Cape Canaveral, Fla 32920. I copied that directly from the response I got back from Shirley. She will fill it up with Key West info and send it back to you. She is heading down mid-month for a family celebration and I am sure would be happy to fill one up for anyone who sends her an envelope.

Was up at 3AM to book online this morning. But was able to book our excursions (DD is excited about parasailing), Palo brunch, couples massages and register DD(11) and DS(9) for the kids' clubs. Wasn't very awake, so I was glad to see I hadn't messed up when I double checked things at 8AM. I was especially glad we got a massage time that didn't interfere with sail away. (Can't miss those 2/1 drinks!!!!) :drinking1 :drinking1

Now we just need to work on getting together pirate outfits for Pirate Night.

Glindamood - DH and I did the Tulum Ruins excursions on our honeymoon cruise 13 years ago (Princess Cruises). IMOP, I wouldn't recommend it. It was a lot of traveling for an excursion that wasn't very memorable.

MAD MAD MAD MAD MAD!!!!!!!!!!
I just got off the phone with guest services, and the MOST UNDISNEY LIKE rep AND supervisor I have EVVVVEEEERRRR spoken to!
OK, we have 2 cabins...DH, DD, and DS in 1, with me, DM, and DD2 in the other...we booked REAS in 1 cabin, but not the other-we don't exactly need 2 packages! Was told when I booked REAS that I could do excursions etc over the phone when availability for the 1st cabin opened (today). Ressies are linked, b/c when I booked DD and DS in the lab today, it gave me the option of letting ME and DM check the kids out of the lab...we're not in the same room, so clearly the computer knew we were together. The supervisor would NOT book excursions for the others b/c that cabin didn't have the pkg...even though we are together!!!!!!!!!!!! She was the most corporate america like person I have EVER spoken with at Disney! I am so mad right now I could spit nails...oh if only I had spoken with her BEFORE karate, I could have burned off some of this anger, but right now I'm seething! She refused to let me talk to anybody else either...she gave me the option of leaving a voice mail or sending an email...when I told her that neither of those options were acceptable, she refused to do anything else. I was very polite...I didn't swear once (which for me requires a lot of focus!) I didn't speak degradingly to her, she just would NOT do anything. I told her I was fairly certain that she had a boss, and I would like to speak with them, and she repeated the afore mentioned 2 options. I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Mad!!! What can I do???????????????????????????????????????????????
I had to book my husband to parasail with my daughter, and hope they'll let me change that to my name. I didn't want to lose the time that I wanted.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Thanks for the info!

krhardy, I'm sorry that you are upset, but I don't understand why you are blaming DCL. They sell the REAS package on a per cabin basis and offer a special incentive (the early booking option) for those who purchase. What is unfair about DCL disallowing you the option to have an advantage that you did not pay for? I'd be upset if they did allow you the advance booking privilege for your second cabin since I would not want the time slots taken away from those of us who are only entitled to book at later dates. I suspect you will not have a problem switching names on the excursion when you are onboard. Just tell them you are family members and had a change of mind re who would go on this excursion -- it must be commonplace.
