Any viable HS reservation strategies?

Mid may dates on a last minute trip with twin 5 YOs, but totally bummed about HS being booked not for missing Star Wars, but all the other stuff there.

My question: Are there any windows of opportunity I should watch for availability? 30 days, 14 days, day before or of (for a park hopper)? I am presuming the 7:01 and 2:01 winners will be wanting to transfer to other parks after winning a Star Wars ride, but dunno if that really happens.

Made excellent progress on food reservations tonight, so this is my last big preplanning task.

Any hope AT ALL?

Thoughts?

Keep trying to get a park reservation multiple times every day. You may get lucky. If you're not carrying much about RotR, then you can get park hopper tickets and then hop to DHS after 2pm. You must have a park reservation somewhere else that day and actually enter that park before you can hop to another park.

To date, there has not been an instance where someone has not been allowed to park hop.

Even if the calendar shows no availability and is yellow, keep trying anyway. As @Fangorn says, you could get lucky!

Last week I was able to add on DH and my adult DD to our DHS plans after they decided to come with DD14, DS, and myself, and all those days were yellow. Now adult DD's friend is also coming and I haven't been able to get her into DHS. but I was able to add her and DD in on a different yellow day that wasn't letting me earlier. So we'll keep trying for the day we want but glad they've got something.

Good luck! Glad you were able to score ADRs, that's no small feat these days :)

(Edited for clarity)

Keep trying. Even if the calendar shows no availability, try anyway. I have scored HS with all the parks days being grayed out. Just keep checking.

Good luck! :shamrock:

As others have said, get park hoppers and go to HS at 2pm or later. We did that in February and were able to do TSM two times in a row with only a few minutes of wait time and then MMRR with about a 20 minute wait, even though the posted time was 35 minutes. We hopped on a Thursday around 4:30pm.

Keep trying! My daughter has her pass, which expires May 30th. We could not make park reservations for her until her pass came up for renewal 60 days out from the expiration date. Once we renewed, we were told we could make ressies for her. Well, sure enough, at the 60 day mark, no HS ressies were available for May 29-June 7! I kept checking everyday for a week and finally they became available. So I would just check multiple times a day if you can. Don't give up!

I just got HS reservation in June for hubby. It took 3 days of checking every so often, but I got it!! Hubby was a last min add on for 4 days of our trip and I managed to get everything I wanted by constantly checking.

Looks like lots of availability just opened up! Maybe they shifted some from the AP pool of reservations? Dates that were completely booked in June are now green.

I will bet they moved over a bunch of AP. While some do, many locals wont use their AP in the summer months because of weather and crowds.

Great news! Thanks!

Has anyone been able to get one? When I go to book for 1 person at DHS, it says no availability. (Hopefully, it'll open up shortly once the system catches up with the calendar - or however that works :) )

Yay!!
Can I ask what week you are going??

Edited to add: I was able to just get it for DD's friend!! I couldn't under my name (maybe cache with all the refreshing? haha.) I signed into another browser under DH's account and it popped right up!

I just booked one for mid June. The whole month seems to be open now, so either they moved some of the AP's or they increased capacity and haven't announced it.
