Any updates on how Disney Parks deal with children with autism?

After the dust has settled since the change in policy that Disney Parks had about the short line wait on rides for families with autism, is there any softening of their stance? Or are they still saying, "Just get fast-passes"?

That has never been their stance.
In October, they changed the previous Guest Assistance Card (GAC) to DAS (Disability Assistance Service).

Post one of this thread has DAS FAQs to explain how it works.

DAS is not just for people with autism.

The DAS is still in effect, and can be used in conjunction with FPs.

I just got back from WDW. I got a DAS for my autistic DS4. It was extremely easy for us to do. They did not ask us any questions at all. They just took a picture of my son, put a stroller as a wheelchair tag on his stroller, and we were on our way. Of course we were not able to go on many rides because my son was terrified, but it was very nice to have it. Especially when we would go into a line and he would throw a tantrum. It truly is not safe to have him in line with other guests.

I have been a few times now since the change to DAS with my ASD son. We have been very successful using the DAS in conjunction with FP+. It takes a bit more planning and we cannot do as many rides as we use to with the GAC, but we went in with a positive attitude and make it work.
