Any trip reports from those just getting off the MR cruise that sailed 2/20 to 2/27?

A few more tidbits....

Speaking of dessert, there was a large dessert buffet in Tritons on the semiformal night, after dinner. I didn't see it listed in the navigator.

I finally found it on the navigator after my last sailing, it is never highlighted as a special event, but under the Late Night Snack on the Semi Formal Night.

Hi,

Talie, I'm sorry you got seasick going out and coming back. Did you wind up taking anything for it? I am prone to sea sickness too and 19 weeks pregnant so I'm hoping it's not too rough or I get too sick!

Also, anyone have any ideas on day passes to resorts and beaches in Cabo? We were looking at the Casa Dorado but they don't offer day passes to their resort. We'd love to go to a resort on Medano beach to swim and just relax on the beach.

Thanks!!

I figured it had to be there somewhere. We had late seating for dinner so we weren't hungry but I though it might be of interest to others.

Also, we brought pesos so the kids could buy souvenirs using Mexican money. Everything, and I mean everything, was quoted in US dollars. We ate at a restaurant (Marisco Mocambo) and paid using a $100 USD bill and were given change in US dollars bills. Taxi drivers gave us change in USD.

Hi Silence,

What resort did you guys go to? Also, do you know what resort the beach excursion went to as well?

Thanks!!

Stacy

I would like to know this as well, Talie. I'm also worried about seasickness and plan to be prepared with pretty much every medication available. Was it just at night or did you feel sick during the day as well?

I was seasick on the first day. I was not proactive about taking seasick meds. Once I was already queasy I did take some Bonine but was probably too far gone at that point. :sad2: After getting sick I laid down and put on seabands. They worked like magic. I'm not sure if it was the bands, placebo effect, or if the seas just got calmer but until the last day of the cruise I felt fine. Definitely slightly off the whole time but nothing resembling the first night. The last night of the cruise was much rougher seas than anything we'd encountered previously. I just went to bed and was fine with it.

I will say that today I'm still feeling way off on dry land. My cubicle is rocking and rolling.

Like this? :rotfl:

Did you wear the seabands the whole week?

First of all, thanks to everyone for commenting on your experience. every bit of information helps.

my silly question is: For dining purposes, does dcl stick to the time zone you are in(cst in this case because you are in mexico), or do they stick to the pacific time zone, since the cruise departed from cali?

We moved our clocks FORWARD 1 hour on the 2nd night. We stayed on that time (not port time) until the last day when we set the clocks BACK an hour. The spa told me they had a bunch of cancellations on Tuesday morning as people lost an hour and were not prepared.

thanks for your response!
I bet this got a bit confusing for those who were too excited about their cruise to realize what time it really was. I'm sure tons of people didnt make it ontime to dinner...

how many formal nights were there?

For us, formal night was day 2 (first sea day) and semi formal night was Friday (2nd Cabo day).

FYI: there was a LONG line for the irons on deck 7 on formal night, I recommend going early if possible if you have anything you need ironed.

I think we had a particularly rough ride back on Saturday.

For what it is worth, the health/doctor's office on board sells a variety of medicines. If you forget to bring something and it isn't available in Treasure Ketch, head down to deck one to see if they have it down there.

On our first cruise, I ran out of Sudafed and Treasure Ketch only had 120 mg. I'm a light weight so went down the the doctor's office and they sold me 30 mg tabs. On this trip, I forgot to pack children's Advil (liquid) and TK only had extra strength adult tabs and pediatric (infant) Advil. The doctors office had children's (liquid) Motrin as well as liquid Tylenol. It was about the same price you would pay for it at the drug store.

Thanks for the info! I assumed prices would be astronomical.

.

Seriously, I couldn't tell if it was my fever making me delirious or the boat at some points! The channel in the stateroom said 12 ft swells when I checked early on.

I did like the overhead msg where they were talking about us being an hour late due to all the late arrivals getting back at Cabo  Why would you push it and just hope the ship is going to wait for you?? Anyways....

I'm still all out of sorts. I hope this feeling goes away soon.

We were in Palo that night so didn't hear the messages. Was it individual families who were late or a DCL excursion?

4 oz of children's liquid ibuprofen was $8.xx. Maybe a little more than at the drugstore but not astronomical.

I think they were also giving out free seasickness meds on the last day.

Maybe you guys had rough seas back because of the snow and cold front that moved into LA this past weekend? I hope it wasn't too bad coming back!

They left a family behind. It was quite the topic of conversation up on Deck 10 where everyone was waiting patiently to watch the ship leave. They made two announcements asking a member of the Negasi family from Deck 8 to please call the operator immediately. They left immediately after the second announcement.

It started to rain at some point on the last day and the winds were whipping. I heard a lot of people went to bed early that night.

We are in 2074 next week. it's midship and I assume kids place is away towards the aft.

We are booked in room 2074 for March 13th. Was the room to your liking and was the service good?

Thanks, Mark.

I just remembered something else that might be of interest. On the last night, they had "Till we meet again" in the atrium outside of Tritons. Normally there is a little song and show before the autograph session but this time they just announced the characters and cast as they walked down the stairs and immediately went to their autograph signing spot. We had heard that they were trying to improve character interactions so maybe they felt skipping the show would allow more time for autographs and photos.
