Hi everyone

My hubby and I are going to Disney on 30 June but a couple of months before that we are going to start trying for our 1st baby. We can't wait until after the trip like we were going to!!! So if we are lucky enough to fall pregnant fairly quickly, I could be in my 1st few months of pregnancy during our trip.

I know there are going to be some rides I'll have to miss out on, which, I am a little gutted about! But having a baby means more and we're both so very excited about having our own family.

I don't suppose anyone has a handy list of rides you definitely must NOT do when pregnant? I ask because there are some obvious ones - i.e. Space Mountain, MISSION Space etc. but other rides, i.e. Splash Mountain, Soarin - could I do those? (I don't know about Soarin - not done it before!!!)

Any tips or advice would be most welcome.

Thank you!

We went last April when I was about 10 weeks pg. I really don't get morning sickness, but didn't feel all that well tummy wise - usually don't first trimester.

I rode on all the non-thrill ride rides, except I was a naughty and rode Expedition Everest and Rock N Roller Coaster. I couldn't help myself. If I were you though, I would skip them.

Personally I would say Splash would be fine, but they post warnings for a reason, so you should stick to them.

The funny thing is, I got motion sick on rides. I have never gotten motion sick. For some reason, Nemo and Friends was the worst.

Have fun trying :rotfl: and have a nice trip.

I was about 14 weeks along during a trip a couple years ago. Basically I stayed away from anything with a posted warning, just to be safe. (I was sorely tempted by Expedition Everest, which we were lucky to hit on a soft-opening morning, but in the end decided better safe than sorry.) Off the top of my head, I'd say avoid:

MK: Space, Big Thunder, and Splash Mountains (Splash has a warning because of the big drop) as well as the Indy Speedway (I think it has to do with the possibility of the person behind you deciding to play bumper cars)

Epcot: Mission Space (even the "tame" side, since the restraints still clamp down pretty tight across the abdomen) and Test Track, Soarin' would be totally fine!

Studios: Tower of Terror and Rock n Roller Coaster

AK: Expedition Everest, the Safaris also has a warning, however, at only a few weeks along I think you'd likely be okay (request a seat toward the front of the vehicle as the back tends to be far bumpier)

My other tips for Disney while expecting: Make sure to drink plenty of water steadily throughout the day. Grazing can help keep queasiness under control by keeping your blood sugar levels steady. Be sure to take it easy, get plenty of sleep and rest periodically. There are plenty of nice, shaded benches. Your OB/GYN or midwife will go over any kinds of food to avoid, and the restaurants are all great about helping out in that respect. Just take it easy, don't push yourself. I was lucky enough to never suffer morning sickness, but I spent the entire first trimester feeling exhausted. Have a wonderful trip, be sure to check out all the cute baby merchandise! The first onesie I ever purchased for DD came from Mousegear. Good luck and I hope you do head to WDW with a little "passenger" in tow!

Thanks to you both, so much for the tips. Gosh all those great rides - makes me want to change my mind again!!!

I suppose we will just see what happens, let nature takes its course as they say!

More than not going on the rides, I am worried that if I'm in the first 3 months of pregnancy I'll have sickness and exhaustion to cope with too. Lots of rides on IASW and rest stops needed!!!

Thanks again, Julie xxx

WATER WATER WATER and REST REST REST. And please follow the guidelines, you don't want to risk placental abruption!!!!!!!!!! Having said that, we were there when I was 24 weeks pregnant and we had a blast. It's fun to take it easy once in a while :)

:rotfl2: That makes me think of that great commercial from a few years ago: Little girl chatting with folks in the elevator about her trip to WDW. Then pointing to her baby brother in his stroller and saying, "This is (insert boy's name). But Mommy calls him her little souvenir." Mom ushers her out of the elevator, very red faced. :lmao:

I traveled to WDW during my first trimester and was EXHAUSTED. Not just feet and legs tired, but felt like I was going to fall down and fall asleep after just a few hours. I know I have many friends and family members who would second that feeling - you feel tired like never before. I found if I ate a little all throughout the day I didn't feel as sick on rides. Other than that, I had a great time!:thumbsup2 I did avoid all of the obvious rides that have signs saying that they are not suitable for pregnant women.

I went down 21 weeks preg with second DS and 13 weeks preg with twins. I avoided all rides with restrictions. Why take any chances? I never would have been able to live with myself if anything happened. I see you have a long trip to Fla. Remember to get up often on the plane and move your legs, you don't want to risk blood clots. It's good you'll be in early stages, but the risk is very real as the preg advances. Water is a must! Try to read up on some tips for nausea, as this may be a reality for the first trimester, and you don't want to be stuck without anyway of knowing what may help. Plan some rest time into your day, you'll be suprised how exhausting the first trimester is. Good Luck

you only have a few months so nothing may happen between now and then. some people start trying and get pregnant right away, for others it takes years! I read somewhere a while back that it takes the average person 4-5 months after going off the pill to get pregnant. **Plus if I remember correctly Dr's dont recommend getting pregnant until after being off of the pill for a few months anyways...........this is of course assuming you are/have been on the pill.

No matter what, June is hot so dring plenty of water and hang out at BB and TL!!!
