I know, I know - San Angel Inn food is more authentic Mexican but I'm worried my family isn't going to like the food available there - too spicy, etc.

Can you get regular tacos, burritos - that type of food there on their dinner menu? Please let me know.

thanks in advance. Ely

No, the food is not taco-bellish! Actually, we weren't too impressed with the food though the ambiance is beautiful, though very dark. We took two teenagers there last October and the one said it a nutshell--"If you could bring the TacoBell food and put it in this restaurant, it would really be good, but until then, the food really stinks "(that was the teenager talking, not me). And I, myself, do not like TacoBell food.

We like it, but it is not TacoBellish, nor is there the typical TexMex type fare on the menu. It was VERY like the food we had staying in a small Mexican town.

It has been a while, but we have eaten there twice and enjoyed it both times! Our kids were younger then, I guess they had the burrito or something, because they did eat Mexican food and loved it! Taco Bell is okay for us, we prefer some of the local stuff down here though. We have been to Mexico and love the food there as well! We are not your typical "fast food only" type of family with kids though. Ours will pretty much try anything with the exception of my youngest, age8, and seafood.

Eh, we've never had a great experience at San Angel Inn - the food actually does tend to be more Taco-Bell-ish and not really authentic. We've tried it five times now and have been disappointed each time. I'd go for the atmosphere, and that's it.

Thinking of it, the food/drink choices in the entire Mexico pavilion, inside and out, are disappointing and we avoid them now. The margaritas are just terrible.

They do have more "Tex-Mex" style offerings on the kids menu. Last time I was there my younger sister got the kid's tacos, now it looks like they've switched it to a burrito. But it's still not anything like Taco Bell. The tacos she had were made with pulled beef, not ground beef like she was used to, so she refused to eat them. (Whiny kid, lol.) Have your kids ever had Chipotle? I'd say the kid's tacos were similar to Chipotle tacos.

Taco Bell is not mexican food. With that being said..it isn't wan't you get at San Angel. Now, you can get fast mexican food, still much better than taco bell at the quick serve mexican place.

They do have nachos at san angel and they are excellent.

You and your kids can't learn about new things if they don't try them. You certainly wouldn't want them going through life thinking taco bell is it when it comes to mexican food. They would be missing out on so much.

Go and enjoy..it is one of our favorite places to go for lunch.

Ugh, absolutely was disappointed with this restaurant. I wound up eating pasta and shrimp because I was more interested in eating authentic AMERICAN mexican food. They didn't even serve homemade tamales.

My favorite place to dine at WDW. Love the food because its different than the chain places I get at home. It is a bit pricey, but have never been disappointed in a meal.

However, my DS (9) runs in fear when i mention it because they give hime something other than fries with his meal.

If you go for lunch, I think you will find more of a selection your kids will be more comfotable with.

Also, as with many places at WDW, some love it (like me), some hate it, the best advice is try it yourself and see.

I told my DD16, when I booked this meal, that it wasn't going to be like American Mexican food. She looked at the menu and said she could handle it, if they'll cook her chicken without the onions on top or whatever it was that didn't float her boat.

It will be an interesting "experiment" to see if she likes it or not. I'll be sure to report back after our trip. ;)

Oh, and if she DOESN'T eat it - I'll kill her. :teeth:
