Any slow down with new security measures?

I saw that they now had metal detectors and were checking bags more carefully. I'm interested to hear from people who are there now and if this has caused any slow down in getting into the parks? We'll be there Monday and just want to plan accordingly.

*I know there are other threads but it seems those have become more of a debate about the new security measures. I'm not looking for any debates - it is what it is - just for information on how the new measures are working. Thanks!

I'm more interested in how this is going to affect things next week. With the sheer number of people visiting the parks next week, I can't imagine this isn't going to slow things down (and if it doesn't, I don't see how it's really doing anything thats actually increasing security).

It my understanding that they're randomly choosing people without bags to go through the metal detector. I would assume that someone with a stroller would most likely have a bag and would therefore not be chosen to go through the metal detector. Maybe they wouldn't choose someone with a wheelchair/ECV because they wouldn't be able to go through.

Just mentioning....but viewing the pics posted. There are people over at the Metal Detectors with strollers. We arrive Sunday....I am interested. We know someone locally who was there last night for the Star Wars party and said it slowed things way down but I haven't seen any other posts to such.

I'm at DHS now. We had no problems at all. They had all bag check stations opened so things went fast.

We've been to DHS, Epcot, MK, and the AMC theaters since the meta detectors. I haven't seen any slow down at all. And not everyone goes through the metal detector.

Guests without bags can still skip security. But if you have shorts with bulging pockets they will probably make you go through it even if you have no bag. Or they'll pass a wand over your pockets. They have also passed the wand over a scooter in front of me. It really feels like they are looking for weapons and it has made me feel safer.

But I haven't noticed a slow down, in fact they seem less interested in searching. At the AMC theater they don't even search my bag. Just walked through the metal detector and felt the outside of it for anything hard.

We were at DHS today and 2 of 6 of us got chosen to go through (but some came through the no bag line and some had bags). Didn't slow us down too much. Bag check is still the same, at MK yesterday they were more thorough and had me take my camera out of my bag and looked all through it, today at DHS, the guy kinda looked through and asked me "do you have any poisonous apples or any unauthorized droids?" And I moved on.

It didn't take us any longer to get into MK than it ever has. It was very fast and efficient.

Disagree 100%.

It's taking much longer due to the bags. Metal detectors are spot checks so not really slowing down the lines (just the individual obviously), but the bag checks are taking 1.5 to twice as long in my estimation. They'd be smarter to send guidelines on how to pack, types of bags to use, etc to help speed the search. Strollers are taking a lot longer too.
