Any September guests received FP+ testing invite?

Booking a "ghost" trip to participate in the test or for booking ADRs has never seemed very ethical to me. It kind of falls into the same category of hiring a handicapped person to get you past the lines. I hope it's worth it.

Ok, I will go waist deep in this one. What Is ethical and what is not. I admit I made a RO reservation at POP to that I could participate in the test during my split stay at Kidani. I have all intentions of paying for that one night room and not staying there. Disney will receive my room payment as revenue, I never check in or out so the profit margin on my room is larger than most. Is this any more unethical than say:

Telling the parking attendant at the MK or BW that you have dinner reservations at either the poly or boardwalk, when you really don't, so you don't have to pay parking and you have easier access to the parks?

Borrowing your neighbors AP so that you don't have to pay parking?

Using your refillable mug for the third straight year?

Book a week at POP while staying at a DVC resort so you could get the free dining for the week. Back in the day when every resort received the regular dining package during free dinning?

How about those who had not intentions of taking a Disney vacation booking one day at POP for the test and when they received their free magic bands for the entire family cancelled the one night reservation.

How about those who wait by the elevator and offer to buy DVC members a drink if they can tag along to the TOTWL?

I seem to remember someone earlier posting how credit cards and drivers licenses would work in FP machines. Hmmm, I wonder if that really works. Funny, I didn't see anyone post that was unethical or immoral.

My favorite as I got turn away from a booked restaurant, the 30 or 20 something who flirts with the host / hostess and gets right in for a table?

Look inside, if you are without then you can criticize. If you are not, as a practicing Buddhist, I extend the Buddhist symbol of oneness to you as a sign of friendship.

Ok, confused, I have received my documents for Sept 20 9 day stay atPOR and no where does it say we get FP+, but I just logged onto My Dis Exp here on my iPad, and it is allowing me to book FP+ reservations. Can someone explain this? Did I get the trial and not know it?

Does it only let you make the number of days you have tickets for? Does it stop when you check out?

For people who are scheduling ghost reservations to get MBs...

You know.. the real resort you are staying at won't be able to help you if you have a problem...they won't have MB access - maybe not even completed training on it yet....I hope you do not need a Kiosk to change your FP + times...I wonder if the kiosks will be installed yet....probably not...or at least not activated- why should they be...they are not part of the test...

Also...what makes you think your room access will work with a magic band if your resort is not set up to handle it....or that your FP+ stuff will actually work in the parks? Hmmmm.

Just a thought. Good luck.

Excellent point and thanks for your thoughts!! MyiPad with cellular service and MDE are my portable kiosk. I was also told that any guest services location will be able to help. My room access will be my KTTW card. I already know that my band will not work for room entry or charging privileges. I primarily want it for FP and park entrance. No more passing out AP's at the gate and then stopping to collect them after we enter the park.

How do I know the FP+ will work? Well members of the podcast are still using their MB's for FP+ from there one day POP reservation that they did the podcast about several weeks ago.

From what I was told by Disney's IT department, POR in September is part of the testing if your check in date is Sept 2 & after. Disney will notify you 17 days before your day of arrival, at least that's what the CM told me from IT. So you will see it show up under your MDE. Hope this helps?!

I have seen nearly every thing you listed criticized at one point on threads on disboards. And personally, I think all those things are wrong. But people are going to do it anyways. I don't let it affect me or try not to.

On the other topic, i don't think it's unethical to make a ghost reservation and pay for it, but personally, I think it is crazy to do. Not to mention, risky. No one has confirmed if it will even work. And since it is still testing, your particular resort may not be able to accommodate it yet,. And what happens if someone posts here it doesnt work at nontesting resorts, are you still going to pay for the room?

And where would we all be today if Walt had not taken any risks? Read Realityland. Some call the building of Walt Disney World itself unethical. If I want to take the risk to spend $100 dollars for a room that I will never use just to try out FP+ so be it. At least I am not lying to game the system. I am paying for the chance to try it. In my opinion no different that those who pay, for Disney provided tours that allow front of the line access.

Dont know if this has already come up, but just wanted to let everyone know that we were able to make FP+ selections for 4 days, when we only have a 3 day MYW ticket.

When I first made my selections, it only let me select FP for 3 days, as I had 3 day tickets, as it should be. We are only taking a short trip and only going to MK for MNSSHP. I chose FP for the other 3 parks, as we'd be at those all day, and reportedly, the lines at the party are non existent. Well, after I bought my party tickets, it allowed me to make another day's worth of FP selections, at MK on the party day, so we now have 3 FPs that fall into the 4pm-7pm time frame, so not during the actual party. We actually have 4 FP's (got the UTS bonus), but the one for BTMRR falls into the 3-4pm hour. I will keep looking to see if I can somehow change that, but I doubt it, so I will likely cancel it.

Just wanted to let everyone know in case they were in a similar situation to us.

Do you plan on using a day from your passes @ mk? I ask because as far as I know the party is not included that's why they end @ 7. So if you don't use your magic band to enter the park you use your party tickets will the fastpasses be available?

As a POP guest for 8 nights, I welcome all of the ghost reservations as long as you actually pay for the one night. It means a bunch of empty rooms and less people on the bus at closing.

FWIW, I do not feel that booking and paying for a room and not using it is unethical. Booking with intention to cancel is.

Love this and totally agree (we're at POR though)! I totally laughed out loud!

I believe it is counting the MNSSHP ticket for that day - we currently have a 7-day pass (but will be there 8 days) and have MNSSHP tix. I am able to make FP+ reservations for 8 days for all of us. The FP+ I selected for our party night all fall between 3-7:00pm (so we will probably just skip the 3-4:00window one and use the other 3. FP+ are not available after 7 for a party night.

We are there 10 days and have 9 day park hoppers. We can make selections for all the 10 days, including our check out day...when we won't be in the parks.

Ok, I had to bite at this one. Why exactly is cancelling a room unethical? I am asking this hypothetically. You could argue that booking a RO reservation without intending to use it is unethical. The person cancelling is putting that POP room back into availability whereas the person paying for the room and leaving it empty could be seen as "depriving" some family of the opportunity to stay in that room (FWIW I don't think EITHER is unethical).

You can twist pretty much any practice to seem ethical or unethical. At the end of the day, as long as no one is getting hurt (and Disney is not getting "hurt" they are still getting vacation revenue from the people that are "ghosting") then why is the behavior of the person "ghosting" the concern of anyone else? :confused3

We check in on September 20 and are staying 9 nights at POR and we didn't get picked to try out the system...bummer! Was hoping we would, but no such luck so far!

We check in on the 12th and the customize magicbands tabs on MDE only became available yesterday. Hang in there a few more days it should become available. As far as I can understand, everyone checking in at POR after Sept 3rd will get a Magicband.

Good Luck!!!

Wait, what!? People are actually paying for the ghosting in order to get the MB's.....LOL! Now I've heard everything, I thought folks were just cancelling all together once they got their MB's! I guess there's nothing wrong with blowing/wasting your own money!

One last thought before I call it a night. How is booking and paying for a room at a test resort any different than buying a front of the line pass at Universal? Oh, and I forgot, all of those people who used to reach behind the FP machine and push the little red button or buy expired FP's on ebay.

Let's face it folks there are ways to play the system and ways to defraud the system. Booking a ghost reservation and paying for it is not defrauding the system.
