Any September guests received FP+ testing invite?

I posted earlier about my 2.5 year old not being able to get a magic band with the other five members in our group and I assumed it was because he was considered an infant. Then others said their children under the age of three WERE getting magic bands. I tried several different things to see if I could get the online system to give him one. It didn't work.
I also called the Internet hotline to see if they could "fix" the glitch for me, and was told that because of his age, he wouldn't be allowed to have one. That no guests under the age of three would be given a band. From reading on this board, I know that's not true, but I'm sure the info the castmember was telling me is all he knew and could do.

I'm thinking about getting him a 1-day ticket (only because I have some free ones through work) just so I can have a band for him to wear. If that doesn't work, then I'll just let him wear mine for until the novelty wears off unless anyone has another idea how to get him one.

Ask for one at the front desk for him.

Just to clarify, I was able to order one for my one year old...but haven't gotten ours in the mail yet. So, we will see if he really gets one.

What about getting him a cool watch with a thick band or a rubber "cause bracelet"? Maybe let him pick out something (watch) while you're there and explain how his is so different (in a good way). Because of the technology and his age, he will still be able to hold up his wrist with whatever he is wearing and he will probably feel like he's using magic band (just my two cents).

Yet another "ghost reservation" question- we are staying at POFQ 9/20-29. Yesterday I made a RO ressie at POP and immediately I was able to make FP+ reservations and customize MB as others have said. I waited to receive confirmation that MB had shipped and then cancelled that reservation and all of the FP+ selections remained associated with the profiles of my party members.

My question is this- since we will actually not be checking onto POP will these MB be inactive? Does anyone know if they are activated at check-in or can they be activated in any other way? I figured we have a 50/50 chance this will actually work. We will have a great time either way and if nothing else the kids will like having a souvenir MB. I'm not really interested in switching to POR just prefer the size of FQ with the kids.

By the end of the year they will be available to all guests anyway... So no one will buy them.
I definitely wouldn't want a band with someone else's name on it, where's the fun with that?
I would like to buy one from Disney because I missed it by 1 day and I like the looks and I won't be back for at least 4 years. but I really don't want the grey--a pretty colour would be great!

I don't think people who are going during the test period, but not getting band should be too upset, because EVERYONE can double (even triple) dip. Its like Fastpass Christmas!

You can use your BOTH your room key and park ticket to spit out FPs, you can use old room keys, old tickets, heck I even read of someone using their drivers license to get FPs. Its a fastpass windfall! Have at it people, make hay while the sun shines. Everyone is lucky to travel during testing, lord it over the poor saps who travel next month who won't get fastpasspoluza.

I am not really understanding this. I thought your room key was also your park key. what do you mean old tickets? and how many FP can you have at once? I thought you could only have 1.

I got selected for testing. I am staying at Pop starting September 14th. I had read before that you can still get regular fast passes with your room key even if you are using the magic band. Is this still true? I am planning on taking a leisurely trip this time and on some days just getting on the first bus that shows up and going to that park for the day. If I do this, FP+ will not be useful to me. I just want to make sure I could still use the regular fast pass on those days instead of getting stuck with whatever leftover FP+ is available that day.

Those are not the same resort. They are sister resorts. Kidani and BLT are flat out DVC resorts anyway not part of the other resort they share amenities with.

This is a testing period, not a roll out. So no one has a gripe. And from what I've seen in the testing resorts, it is a mass wave of gray bands. Aka, the rest of the world has no clue that this is even going on right under their noses. They were given a band at check-in and told minor instructions and just blindly did what they were told.

Disney doesn't want Disney pros testing this out. Those are a very tiny percentage of actual park goers. This test is likely a very accurate representation of normal park visitors. Those wearing the gray bands will give them the real, useful data. Those wearing colored bands already know a lot more than the average visitor.

And it is more than halfway through this month of mass testing. The CMs are still excited to see MagicBands come through their lines and many have still not seen others with bling or wraps. Obviously, that is anecdotal but it does say some thing to how much use these bands are actually getting on a daily basis in terms of FP+.

Delmar, I will have to respectively disagree with your post.

First, I may be wrong but people have reported staying at BCV and AKL Jambo on DVC points and have been able to use FP+ and get MB. So they are allowing some of the DVC members to test in September.

I also disagree that many people at the POFQ, BLT and AKL Kidani will not notice that other families have been able to get MB. They may use the same pools and meet others in the same locations many times.

I have NO PROBLEM if Disney decided to do testing in any resort, as long as, it did testing for ALL staying in the resort. Why couldn't Disney pick both POR and POFQ? Why couldn't Disney have chosen many of the other resorts that don't have sister resorts?

It was just BAD FORM by them on the resorts chosen.

Yes people can make RO reservations during the beginning of their stay or completely switch resorts and I wouldn't be surprised if more don't do that in September.

All in all it really isn't going to make or break anyone's vacation. I just think Disney should have been more careful of the resorts they picked and the way it would make some people staying at the same resort feel if not selected. And to repeat, I feel that BLT is part of Contemporary, AKL Kidani is part of AKL Jambo and Port Orleans French Quarter is part of Port Orleans Riverside.

From everything I've seen/read, including info. from Disney, it appears that the magic bands are active as soon as they ship. I have mine and when I was messing around on the app, there was an option to deactivate it, so it must already be active. We leave in 2 weeks, now if we could just get Wishes as a fastpass+ option. :)

The resorts are chosen to give them certain test numbers, so they can get exactly the number of guests they want for testing, for example if they need 50,000 guests, they would pick resorts that would add up to that number, and they would want a sampling of resorts from each level...it makes logical sense.

Has anyone been able to select a FastPass for Enchanted Tales with Belle in this run? I don't have the option for the end of September. I didn't get any bonus selection either that some people were reporting. Just curious.

I did during my stay on Friday September 6th. I had to use the special website.

We're staying at AOA Sept 8-14th. I customized our MagicBands this morning! :thumbsup2

I'm hoping I can get into BOG for lunch (on FP+) on either Monday or Friday that week while we're in MK--I'm pretty sure it was an option a few days ago but it's not there now. :confused3 I'm getting REALLY excited for our trip! (We're telling our kids--ages 7, 6, 4 & 3 TONIGHT! WoooooooHooooooooooo!)

Anyone with this question see Delmar's post below:

It is a separate link, not a FP+. That's how you book it. https://BeOurGuestLunch.disney.go.com

My question is this- since we will actually not be checking onto POP will these MB be inactive? Does anyone know if they are activated at check-in or can they be activated in any other way?

Magic bands do not have to be activated. They come with an RFID chip that has a unique number associated with it. Disney, in their computer system, associates that number with your reservation and then everything associated with your account/reservations are automatically associated with the band. At any time the unique RFID number could be disassoicated from your account and the band would not work. This is how they will deal with thefts and lost bands. It will take moments to associate a new band's unique RFID number with your account and all reservations. Pretty slick.

FP+ will not have a huge affect on FP usage. People run around and get lots of FP's and FP's are handed out like candy whenever there is a problem, yet the FP lines are not overly long. And everyone doing FP+ is one more person that doesn't have to run around. Even if FP+ testers use regular FP once in awhile, it won't have a major impact. They only got 3 to begin with. And we are talking about September! Other than a few rides there will be very short lines.

So it won't make a big difference. My wife and I are staying at POR while my 2 kids ages 10 and 12 are staying at POFQ. (Just kidding about the 10 and 12, they are 25 and 27.:lmao:) Neither one is concerned in the least that they don't have MB's and FP+. In fact, this is going to be an interesting test. Our two stays overlap, and while we both have days without the other party, we will have 4 days together. We plan on touring together and seeing how the FP and FP+ compare.

Either way we will be at Disney in September. Lines, shmines!

I spoke to Disney IT yesterday and you will be able to use regular FP, along with MB/FP+, everyday. No worries.

I am amazed how many want to make excuses for Disney with this.

Disney could have easily pick resorts to get the numbers and levels needed for the test WITHOUT picking resorts that have sister locations.

I will end on we just will agree to disagree on this issue.

Dont know if this has already come up, but just wanted to let everyone know that we were able to make FP+ selections for 4 days, when we only have a 3 day MYW ticket.

When I first made my selections, it only let me select FP for 3 days, as I had 3 day tickets, as it should be. We are only taking a short trip and only going to MK for MNSSHP. I chose FP for the other 3 parks, as we'd be at those all day, and reportedly, the lines at the party are non existent. Well, after I bought my party tickets, it allowed me to make another day's worth of FP selections, at MK on the party day, so we now have 3 FPs that fall into the 4pm-7pm time frame, so not during the actual party. We actually have 4 FP's (got the UTS bonus), but the one for BTMRR falls into the 3-4pm hour. I will keep looking to see if I can somehow change that, but I doubt it, so I will likely cancel it.

Just wanted to let everyone know in case they were in a similar situation to us.

It's called testing...what if it was a big huge failure..I net people would be thrilled not to be subjected to that...grass is always greener, etc.

I'm sorry you did not get FP+ - most people are not. :(
