Any RENT-heads around?

This is soooo weird !! I just finally found my missing soundtrack and am uploading it to my iTunes RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!

I love Rent. I saw the original Broadway cast in 1996.

This is me completely jealous! I wish I could have had that opportunity. What a wonderful experience that must have been :thumbsup2

Oh, and disneynutt1225...you're welcome :teeth:

Driving home tonight I thought about how I need to put Rent on my MP3 player.

I love Rent.

I definitely have it downloaded on my Itunes. It's really one of the best Broadway soundtracks ever IMO.

Such a beautiful message.

Does anyone have the movie on DVD? I really loved the documentary on the second disc. I didn't know very much about Johnathan Larson other than the fact that he passed before he got to see RENT open on stage. The documentary was so informative and really touching. I was crying watching all the interviews with his family and friends. So sad he never got to see how successful his show was and how many people it touched :(

I don't know that I'd be considered a RENT-head,but I love the music and the story.

I was just listening to highlights from the original broadway cast recording as I was working on DDs b-day party invitations last night. I have both disks of the movie soundtrack in the CD player in my truck.

I also love the "extra" info pieces on the 2nd disk of the movie package. My sister got it for me for my birthday last year.

I love your signature. Harry potter and Wicked - two of my favorite things.

ME! Love the play, although I wasn't happy with how the movie turned out. Mostly because I wasn't impressed with Rosario Dawson's voice.

The Library of Congress had a concert last year featuring Jonathan Larson's music, not just from RENT but also some of his other works, in honor of the addition of his music to the Library. I never realized how many other songs he'd written. There was one, "Pura Vida", that just gave me chills it was so beautiful. Anthony Rapp, Gwen Stewart, and the original RENT band, among others performed, so it was a pretty amazing night.

"Take me for what I am...........Who I was meant to be.............
And if you give a damn...Take me baby, or leave me"

Oh, and I also saw the original cast.

Don't know if I qualify as a 'Rent-head' but love the play, love the film, love the music, love the message. :thumbsup2

Lucky you!!

I do - and watched that - it was sad!

I'm happy there are other RENT fans on the board! Unfortunately, I've never been lucky enough to see a Broadway version of it. But I plan on living in NYC at some point and I definitely would love to see it then.

SydSim, Take Me Or Leave Me is one of my favorite numbers! Idina Menzel is so amazing, I just love her. She was awesome in Wicked too

Count me in! I've seen it on Broadway 5 times, but it's been awhile, I need to make it 6! :)

I wish I had the soundtrack at work, now I feel like listening to it!

Don't breathe too deep
Don't think all day
Dive into work
Drive the other way
That drip of hurt
That pint of shame
Goes away
Just play the game

You're living in America
At the end of the millenium

You're living in America
Leave your conscience at the tone

And when you're living in America
At the end of the millenium
You're what you own

ROGER
The filmmaker cannot see

MARK
And the songwriter cannot hear

ROGER
Yet I see Mimi everywhere

MARK
Angel's voice is in my ear

ROGER
Just tighten those shoulders

MARK
Just clench your jaw til you frown

ROGER
Just don't let go

BOTH
Or you may drown

You're living in America
At the end of the millenium
You're living in America
Where it's like the twilight zone

And when you're living in America
At the end of the millenium
You're what you own

So I own not a notion
I escaoe an ape content
I don't own emotion- I rent

MARK
What was it about that night

ROGER
What was it about that night

BOTH
Connection- In an isolatiing age

MARK
For once the shadows gave way to light

ROGER
For once the shadows gave way to light

BOTH
For once I didn't disengage

MARK
Angel- I hear you- I hear it
I see it- I see it
My song!

MARK (On the phone) ROGER

Call me a hypocrite Mimi
I need to finish my
Own film Your Eyes
I quit!

BOTH
Dying in America
At the end of the millenium
We're dying in America
To come into our own

And when you're dying in America
At the end of the millenium
You're not alone

I'm not alone
I'm not alone

That's probably my favorite song from Rent, but it's awfully tough to choose. I can probably claim to know the youngest Renthead, though...DD6 is completely infatuated with the show, and insists we watch the movie every time she sees it come up on the program list on TV.

DW is a big fan too, but I think that's just 'cause she's got the hots for Adam Pascal. ;)

Count me in! I love to sing along in the car.
