Any Reformed FP- Uber Users Who Have Embraced FP+ ?

May I please add this question to OP's?

Are you getting to reride favorites?
Our superusing family likes Soarin x 3, TSMM x 3 and EE x 3.

Anyone pulling that off? Thinking about May...

We were not able to 2 weeks ago :( We like to reride over and over too but it seems those days are gone except maybe in MK and only at RD. Not including SDMT, of course.

So this would probably make taking our old bands to use for "extra" SDFS+ pretty pointless. "Oooo look FP+ for Mad Tea Party! Yay!" :duck:

Exactly. There was nothing good left for our 4th FP+. We maybe used it once and I think it was something we could have walked on.

This is my experience.

EE is easy to ride multiple times at rope drop or sometimes later in the day at AK even without FP.

Soarin and TSMM lovers suffer the most with fp+. If you get there right at rope drop you can ride it once and then use a FP if you have one. Generally the standby lines would be too long for a second standby ride at rope drop. Sometimes during less busy times you could ride them late at night without too big of a line. But, I don't know if anyone has ever been able to make a fourth FP reservation for either of these rides during the day.

Yep! You are so right. When we were there 2 weeks ago, I was panicking on the first day at the number of people there for RD. But 99.99% headed to A&E or SDMT. We had the rest of the place to ourselves for the first solid hour or more.

Btw, I love the profile pic of your dd in her Elsa dress! You are so talented :goodvibes My 14yo would go nuts over that dress!

Thank you! My daughter is 14 now and it was fun to see her excited about it! :goodvibes

Ummm, ...Soarin, maybe...maybe...RD, FP+ then SB after Illuminations on a late EMH (only a 20 minute wait when when were leaving Friday the 19th, so we rode it).

TSMM...no idea, once is enough for us, so we didn't try.

Everest?...no problem...do single rider and ride it as much as you want. DD and I had a FP+ since she hadn't ever ridden it and I wanted to watch her enjoying it, then we just single rider lined it...at least 5 times, maybe more...5-20 minute waits.

She also did single rider for TT so rode it 3 times one day.

Still possible.

When we were there 2 weeks ago, EE was 35-45 mins stand by at 5-6pm (park closed at 7pm). We did not have a FP for it so only got to ride it once. We used to ride that one over and over with 10-15 mins waits, even walk on sometimes.

Yeah, it's hit or miss at the end of the day. That's why we usually rely on rope drop for EE. :goodvibes

Yikes. This makes me very sad. I am SO happy we got in so many good commando-style trips pre-FP+.

Crowd Calendars must be even more important now to ride-loving commandos.

Our experience has been that we didn't get to ride as many rides in a day. We also didn't get to ride certain rides multiple times a day like we used to do with FP. However, we did still do rope drop (we are early risers so rope drop doesn't take much effort on our part) and find that early park time is still best for little waits. I have read on here that A&E and 7DMT have made it so Frontierland and Adventureland are ghost towns for the first hour or two and that Tomorrowland is also rather empty. What we have done is change up how we do Disney. In the past, we did rope drop and were usually there until the park closed or at least close to closing. We pulled multiple fast passes in a day without having a runner or crossing the park just to obtain a FP. We rode many of our favorites 3 or 4 times a day and had a fantastic time. Now, we still arrive at rope drop but we don't stay all day. We will take a midday break for some pool time or Downtown Disney. We go in knowing that we won't get as much done so we prioritize what we do want to do. We never leave feeling disappointed when we go in with that frame of mind. We have also discovered how much we love spending time at Fort Wilderness, how much my daughter (age 4) actually loves Downtown Disney - especially Goofy's Candy Co. - and how much fun we have as a family at the resort pools. We also end up spending less money, ironically, because we are in the parks less and shopping less. We also eat at the resort more often rather than multiple meals in the parks. When we are in the parks, unless it is Magic Kingdom, we would rather do table service meals. With us having one or two meals a day at the resort, those are counter service meals which saves us a good amount of money.

So, my advice would be to alter your expectations from what you are used to, plan to do fewer rides but maybe experience something new instead, and just focus on the memorable time and new memories with your family.

Did they give her any grief about wearing it in the park?

Nope. I think the parks have relaxed their restrictions on that a bit. But she only had it on for a short time.

I may finally get to the place where I'm ready to change my expectations. We've always preferred the style you describe having been.

At this point, however, my DH and older kids agree it would be a constant disappointment as we compared what we used to get to do vs. what can be done now.

I guess maybe we aren't Disney-lovers as much as Disney-really-really-likers.

BUT I hope they pick up on the fact you're spending less $$...!

Have you considered adding new experiences to your trip? For example, if you were to do a water park on two different mornings of your trip and then either do a dinner show (Spirit of Aloha Luau or Hoop Dee Doo Musical Review could be fun) or maybe head to one of the parks would really change it up. And if you head to the parks, you could plan your fast passes for later in the day and still get to do 3 of your favorites. It wouldn't be exactly the same, but if you did, for example, Epcot on two different late afternoons/early evenings after hitting up the water parks, you would still have two different times to ride Soarin with a fast pass and still have the new experience of Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. Or, you might could do a fun watercraft day. You can go parasailing over Bay Lake at Contemporary or even tubing, wakeboarding, or waterskiing. A morning of horseback riding at Fort Wilderness followed by a day at Magic Kingdom could help to change it up in a way where the focus is more on the new things you are doing rather than the old things you are no longer able to do.

I understand that's how some are dealing with diminished expectations. And I suppose that's how Disney is fishing more money out of their wallets. But I just refuse to pay to do something else when I already paid for park access for the day.

Great news about the efficacy of Rope Drop!

We're planning to hit EMH during most of our stay, and hope we get to do at least one of the headliners twice during that time. I'll let you know how that turns out.

For us, if we can tour close to what we did during FP- which is doing at least one of the headliners twice, and then do headliners again using FP+ (depending on the park) in the PM, we are going to be real FP+ fans.

Fingers crossed! :thumbsup2

I know and for the most part, I agree with you. I was just trying to suggest something that might help make the trip more fun and new rather than a reminder of what can no longer be accomplished.

I have a hard time imagining anyone who took full advantage of FP- could ever be "converted" to a "FP+ Lover".

We went into this last trip with completely different expectations. We told ourselves over and over not to expect to get to do as much or ride as many headliners over and over like we used to. Our expectations pretty much lined up with the experience we had. It was a bit disappointing but I'm glad we knew that going in and planned for it.

And like the pp said, we spent less money in the parks. A lot less actually. Not sure if Disney will realize that or not since they are packing the parks full these days but surely we are not the only people spending less and eventually, they may see that.
