I want to mentally prepare myself for them so I won't pass out... :rotfl2:

Thanks a bunches!

Oh and do you think DL will be full by the afternoons (around 3 or 4pm) and they'll start turning away people?
Just wondering about our plan for the first day.

Thank you!

When are you going? Between Christmas and New Years? Yes it will probably fill up. Get there super early and work those fast passes :santa:

Tomorrow!!
But we probably won't get there until late in the day and was wondering if there's even any chance of getting in or if we should just save the ticket for another day.

It was even super crowded last week when I was there, and I thought I was avoiding heavy crowds because I was there earlier in December than my usual visits, I was there mostly on weekdays instead of a full weekend and two of my days were CM party days so the hours in DL were cut short. No such luck. Honestly, I felt it was packed for the first 3 days I was there (12/12, 12/13 and 12/14), and didn't begin to even sort of lighten up a bit until my last day, Wednesday, 12/15.

In reality, if we were to get the final attendance numbers for my dates last week and compare them to other days/years I have been to DLR in December, I'm sure last week's numbers would be a wee bit lower than my previous trips. That's my logical mind talking after the fact, but at the time I was there I was simply thinking, "Wow! It's packed!"

At the same time, I strongly suspect that a lot of folks are making trips to DLR earlier in the month or even earlier in the holiday season in general now because they are trying to avoid that crazy two weeks around Christmas and New Year's when it is notoriously packed, and in doing so, they are shifting the intensity/balance of the crowded periods a bit so that it spreads out more through the month and season. Add to that the fact that more people are probably visiting DLR for the holidays overall.

Keep in mind, it will be a Magic Morning day every day this week except today, and also every day next week except for Wednesday. So that means DLR is anticipating huge crowds now and all through next week. A couple of CM's have said that it hasn't been 'quiet' or uncrowded at all this whole holiday season, unlike some previous years where you might catch some lighter crowds on certain days.

So...I am fairly positive that if my dates were as crazy as they were, crowd-wise, your dates will be even more so. Chances are, the heavy rain we have been having has kept some folks away from DLR this week (though not as many as I thought, from what I've been hearing - people are still out there, braving the torrential downpours). That's all the more reason why people will likely flock to the park when it dries up, and before the next storm system rolls in - so that will be just in time for Christmas eve and day!

On a positive note, though, I had a really wonderful time because I had several days to stretch things out. I just kind of had to shift my agenda and make it less about rides for the entire trip and more about taking lots of photos. I rode rides the first day and then the next couple of days were about nothing but photos!!

If the rain lets up by tomorrow - and it is supposed to - it is possible that the park may fill to capacity by 3 p.m. or 4 p.m. because lots of people are starting their Christmas holiday after work today and may flock to the parks tomorrow. There is no way to know until you get there. But it would probably only be DL that was full - and only for a few hours, more than likely. You can go into DCA for a while and then come back to DL later.

Well, it rained and rained and rained and rained and rained a little bit more all day yesterday and through the night - until about 30 minutes ago. It seems to have let up for the time being. HALLELUJAH! :cool1:

That said, it is expected to rain some tomorrow, but also, start to officially move out of here! :cool1: :dance3::yay::woohoo::cheer2:

If that happens, it could make the Park VERY crowded because you have a lot of local people who have had cabin-fever and have not gone to get their holiday fill the last few days because of the weather. When it finally clears - everyone is going to want to come out to play!

There really aren't any "recent days" to compare with because the rain creates a completely false baseline for your question.

If the rain stops, I would expect big crowds.

That said, traditionally, Christmas morning is slow, getting progressively busier as the day goes on. An early start is your key (moreso than on "normal" days).

Have a great trip,

ETA: Well, never mind on the "rain has take a break" aspect. 15 minutes later and it's pouring again. GO AWAY RAIN!

:rotfl: We were excited during that brief period of sun today, too. I'm so over it! If I see one more post on facebook saying "I love this rain" I'm going to snap :thumbsup2

Just mentally prepare yourself for the biggest crowds you've ever seen. You'll be good then no matter what. I wanted to open Santa presents at the Grand tree but we decided so will everyone else and I finally decided it would be OK to sit on the floor somewhere around the tree. We've got to be prepared for anything this week and decide to go with the flow. We usually don't get into the park until 10 on Christmas morning and it's usually pretty busy by then.

GAH!!!!!!
Ok brain... prepare for lots and lots and lots of people...
or there'll be lots of naps for me this upcoming week... :lmao:

Thanks everyone!
