I have never made punch but would love to use the punch bowl I got from DH's GM. She passed away last year and I really would like to use it for DD's Luau Sat. Any really yummy ideas that the kids and adults would like? Budget friendly would be great as well!!

This is perfect for a luau and kids love it:

Buy one carton of your favorite flavor of sherbet (we like raspberry, but kids always seem to like rainbow, too) and one 2-liter of sprite or ginger ale (store brand lemon-lime works fine for cost saving). Plop the sherbet into the punch bowl and slowly add the soda. Makes pretty, creamy, bubbly punch that tastes great!:cheer2:

My MIL (who passed away in Sept) always made sherbet punch for Christmas. We live nearly 700 miles away and that was one of the ways we felt closer to family, by having the same foods on Christmas Eve. We'd call to wish everyone a Merry Christmas while sipping punch and nibbling on Grandma's baked goods. This year it will be bittersweet to continue the tradition knowing she isn't enjoying her own punch and other goodies surrounded by friends and family at her open house.

Back on topic; my family has a punch recipie that is one can of pinapple juice and one two liter of strawberry soda. You can make an ice ring with strawberries in it if you want or just chill everything really well before pouring into punch bowl.

Here's the one we like:

1 lg can pineapple juice
1/2 L. ginger ale
1/2 gallon pineapple sherbert
1 sm can frozen lemonade

Equal parts pineapple juice, apricot nectar, and ginger ale. That's pretty good.

I also second the sherbet. Rasberry sherbet, lemon-lime soda, and cranberry juice.

Here's my punch recipe. It's a "fizzy" punch, not a "creamy-sherbet" punch. It's pretty budget friendly, too, if you buy store-brands. If I buy the Wal Mart store brand, I can usually do the whole thing for about $3.00.

1pk Kool Aid (I usually pick a flavor that matches my color-scheme, ha!)
1 2-liter Ginger Ale
1 large can unsweet pineapple juice (find it in the juice aisle)
Prepare the Kool-Aid according to package directions.
Pour 1/2 the Kool-Aid and 1/2 the pineapple juice into your punch bowl. Pour enough ginger ale to suit your taste or fill the punch bowl.

Enjoy!

Sherbet punch. Its my family's favorite, served with lime or orange sherbet, pineapple juice, & gingerale. I love it. Well, I didn't know dh's fam loved it to prob since I serve it for everything, so for SIL's shower I made a strawberry/ sprite sparkling punch- good, but she wanted the sherbet. My dd & I went to my cousin's shower this summer & for maybe 15 people she had to remake an entire punchbowl (...and dd took a to go cup).

1 1/2 C sweetened strawberry Kool-Aid
1 C sugar
6 oz. frozen lemonade
6 oz. frozen orange juice
Large can pineapple juice
1 liter ginger ale
1 liter 7 UP
3 quarts water or to taste

I don't care for the sherbert punch. My recipe is not very budget friendly...but it is delicious.

The favorite around my office is:
2 Liter Lemon Lime Soda or 7Up or Sierra Mist (I used Safeway brand or whichever is cheaper)
1 can Frozen Lime Juice
½ Gallon Lime Sherbet
Follow directions and make juice accordingly, add Soda and stir then scoop in the ice cream. That’s it.

OTHER OPTIONS
Use rainbow sherbet
OR USE
7Up
Frozen orange juice
Orange sherbet

I have one that eveyone loves. You take 2 oranges, 2 lemons, and 2 limes. You cut them in thin slices, discarding the ends and layer them in a bowl, sugaring them well as you go. Let them sit all day, then take two packs of cherry kool-aid, and one pack of strawberry kool aid and mix them according to directions, with just slightly less sugar. Then you mix the kool-aid into the fruit.

This punch is wonderful and I always get asked for the recipe anytime I make it
