Thanks for the welcome!
For those who did IVF...how was the egg retrieval process? Painful? I start BC pills Sunday...go in 2 weeks to hear the whole "plan". In the mean time...I keep reading & reading
Kristine- the ER was not that bad. mine was early- at 6am, so i had to be there at 5am to prep. they got me ready in a room- gown, IV going etc. then at 6am, i was wheeled into the operating room, and given full anisthesia and knocked out. when i woke up, i had to be in recovery for about an hour before going home. I was in some slight pain from the surgery, but not too awful, plus they give you pain pills. they removed 8 mature follicles from me. i had the ER on a thursday and took that day and the next day off. I would recommend having the day of and day after the ER off to recuperate. If you have any more questions- feel free to pm me or email me. always willing to help and share my experience.
Schmoogirl- IUI is a breeze- or it was for me. you are doing the injections though right off the bat, so the only thing i had as side effects with the injections were the extreme bloating from producing so many eggs. i used a differnet injection than you, but they all work the same way. they will monitor your follicle growth probably every other day via ultrasound once you start using the stims. then once at least one or more follies hits 18mm in size, they will probably have you trigger. this means injecting the 'trigger shot (ovidrel is commonly used)' to induce ovulation 36 hours later. so 36 hours after the shot, you go in for the actual IUI. it is similar to a pap smear. Dh can be there with you. i had to drop off DH's 'sample' by 8:30am, and i usually was told to come back around 11am. that gives them time to 'wash' the sperm and collect the best ones. then it is just like a pap- spread em- they just 'inject' the sperm using a catheder like tube directly into your cervix. it wasn't painful, but some folks do have pain- it differs for everyone. i was so used to all the sonograms (******l), so being legs spread in the air again wasn't painful for me. then you lay there for about 15 minutes, then go home. simple as that. i hope it goes well- feel free to pm me with questions- i did 4 IUIs- two of them with clomid and two with injectables (follistim). none of them worked for me, although i responded well (had good eggs).
