Michelle, I'm sorry about AF. If you have Discovery Health Channel, they have a show called The Baby Lab. It's on today at 2pm and it's on tomorrow (might be a different episode, not sure) tomorrow at 10am and 2pm. It follows couples through IVF. I came up with a few benefits of IVF. 1. Who else gets to see their kids as follicles and then embryos? and 2. When I go back for siblings, I may be almost 32, but my embryos will be made from 29/30 year old eggs. Have to find a bright side somewhere, right?? :goodvibes

gypsydoodlebug, the only s/e I had from Clomid was a hot flash here and there and a headache here and there. Most of the s/e come AFTER you're done taking it - sore bb's, nausea...basically pregnancy symptoms multiplied. You really shouldn't take Clomid until you've had an HSG and your DH has an SA. If there is a new tubal problem or sperm issue, you'll be medicating for nothing. Clomid, even though it's considered the starter drug for infertility, is very serious. It can cause cysts. It can thin the lining of your uterus. It shouldn't be taken for more than 3 months in a row and no more than 6 months altogether. You should also be monitored with blood and ultrasound during and after. I was on 50mg (the lowest dose without cutting a pill in half) and I ended up with 7 follicles. If even half of those had mature eggs that fertilized, I'd be looking at triplets or quads. My doctor told me no BD because the risk was too high. There is also a risk of OHSS, which is very serious. So, if you're thinking of Clomid, I'd make sure the doctor handing it out to you knows it's much more than Tylenol because a lot of GYNs seem to think it's candy.

Today is my big u/s. I've been thinking boy since I found out I was pregnant, so we'll see. It seems IVF/ICSI has a bigger percentage of girls since girl sperm are usually better looking and those are the ones they select for ICSI. It'll be interesting to find out. It's not until 4pm. The suspense is killing me!
thanks Carla for the reassurance! i don't have discovery health, at least i don't think so, but i'll look and DVR it if i do! so how many embryos did you have left to freeze? wow, didn't know that about the girl sperm....interesting! can't wait to hear how your appt went!

well today was okay....except i had a um....accident at work. i never bleed heavy, but today i bled through my pants. that hasn't happened since high school! so i had to run home and change. i guess i am just shedding a lot of lining...or maybe i was pregnant for a very short time and didn't know or just didn't stick....who knows. anyways, it is crazy heavy for me.

made the call to grandpa today too....to ask for the financial help. It was so hard asking. but he said how much... i told him $11k and he said he was going today to send me a cashier's check. i can't believe how lucky and blessed I am to have such a wonderful grandpa. I wish he lived closer so I could see him more. He is 80 and my grandma passed away about 3 years ago. He lives in Columbia, SC alone (but lots of friends and relatives nearby, including my aunt). Anyways- i am so thankful to him. I go for my IVF orientation on 1/24....even though i start lupron on 1/22. they don't have another class until then. should be interesting to learn more about the sciene of how it works. Carla- feel free to email me any tips or details on IVF. i want to do everything i can to help it along.

and i can't believe i am going to orlando tomorrow. I just realized i didn't rent a car yet....duh! so i got online and National still had some cars. There are 40k people at this show, so I figured they could be out of cars, but they weren't. got a nice intermediate to cruise around town in and visit the mouse! i'll get a parking pass since i am staying on site, right? so i won't have to pay for parking at the parks?

IMarriedGrumpy, I'm sorry about the BFN. Give it a few more days though. It's not over until you get a negative blood test or AF shows up. :)

The big u/s went great today. The baby looks great - despite my being down another pound. I don't get it. The compazine makes it so I can eat more. When I eat, I'm eating fries and pizza and crap like that. Still, can't gain a freakin' ounce. :sad2:

Ah, well.....everything looked good - from the little feet to the umbilical cord to the little bladder that filled up.

And....it's a girl! A tall, long-legged girl! I'm thinking Katharine for a 1st name. I was going to use my RE's name as the middle name, but I want my last name in there somewhere. I'm on the fence about the 4 name thing.

Katharine Shaila (my last name)(DH's last name). It might be too much. I'm thinking now we'll keep it simple and name her Katharine (my last name)(DH's last name). I don't know....we'll have to see. I have a few more months to change my mind 100 times!

Carla,

That is absolutely the best post that I have read in a long time! Congrats on your healthy baby girl. princess: The shopping is about to be taken to a whole new level....

I love the name Katharine. So, so happy for you!!! :cheer2:

Laurel

Carla I love the name Katharine also. In history there are so many strong woman named Katharine. With Diana we combined the two last names Riley and Bianco. She is making her first communion this year so I needed to find out when it was since Kevin's godson and Diana's best friend are also making it this year. I call the nun who I left a message (old style nun with habit) and she says I called you but there was no answer and I say we do have an answering machine. Oh I must have not waited enough time. She tells me they go by alphabetical order and her last name being Riley she has the last class. of course I say but her last name isn't Riley it is Bianco-Riley and she says oh Bianco and I say Bianco-Riley well which is it . She just couldn't understand it.

Hi Ladies,

Hope all is well!!!

Carla congratulations!!! I am so happy for you. Katharine is a strong name.

Life is just insanely busy for us. We stopped TTC until about July, we'll see how that goes.

Hi Lisa B. How are you???

Has anyone heard from Becky?

I just wanted to let you all know never give up. A friend of mine is now 8 weeks pregnant after 7, yes 7 IFV procedures. I am very happy for her!!!

Lots of love and hugs and kisses!!

Rachael

Have fun in Orlando, Michelle! I'm so jealous - wish I was there...

Carla, that's great news about the baby girl! I'm so excited for you! I love the name Katharine.

Well, wouldn't you know that the day I finally break down and POAS in the morning, and AF shows up in the evening, complete with killer cramps and backache. Blech! And of course this messes up my averages for my charts. I'm already very irregular, but this month I had a 14 day luteal phase instead of the usual 10 days. Who knows. I'll have some crazy charts to show the Dr. in March, though! Hopefully we'll get the BFP this next month and the Dr. won't need to see the charts at all...

Michelle - That's great news that you were able to speak with your Grandpa & that he's so willing to help out. :goodvibes I hope you're enjoying your your time at WDW today!! :thumbsup2

Carla - Yeah!! Congrats on a healthy baby girl - how exciting!! :cool1: :) I also love the name! :goodvibes

IMarriedGrumpy - Sorry you got a BFN on the test - keep testing if AF doesn't show soon, you never know! ;) Praying for your BFP!! :goodvibes

Not much new with me - finally broke down & bought 2 pairs of jeans on clearance last night in a bigger size. They feel so much better today! LOL I still haven't lost much of the weight I gained before the miscarriage at 10 weeks. It's just a couple pounds extra right now, but it's still all in my belly - just enough to make my already snug fitting jeans uncomfortable. I also figured I would need an extra pair or 2 for Disney next week & didn't want to wear old, raggedy ones on my vacation. :)

I'm currently on CD20 & still no real signs of O per FF. I thought I had some signs of it the other day, so I guess only time will tell. I just wonder if FF will ever detect O this month with my body being all over the place. I'm just worried that AF is still a long ways out if I haven't even O'd yet. I just want her to show her ugly face sooner rather than later so we can start TTC again!! ;) This Friday will be 3 weeks from the D&C.

Hope everyone is having a good day!! :)

Carla, congratulations on the baby girl!!!!! That is awesome!!!

Michelle, I am glad to hear that the appt for IVF went well and that you have such a wonderful guy to help you out financially!

I havne't heard from Becky, but I was just thinking of her and Nicole as well.

Not much to report here with TTC... I had such a lax attitude that I am not 100% sure when I am due. I think it is Sunday/Monday. No PMS signs though, save some slight pulling in my abdomen.

I have lots to do around teh house today. Yesterday we were all so tired after watching OSU choke. Wasn't a fun game to watch at all no matter what. I hate blow out games in bowls... just boring for me. Didn't actaully finish a lot of the bowl games this year because of that fact :p

Carla - I thought we decided her name would be Denae! :rotfl: Actually, I love Katherine - will you call her Kate or some other nickname? It is so exciting! My sister in law named her daughter name -her maiden name-his last name, and it sounds really nice, but I can understand wanting to honor your RE, too.

Michelle - I wonder what the heavy bleeding is all about. You are so lucky to have someone to help you out financially. And I sure he is more than happy to be able to help. I wish you tremendous luck with the IVF!

IMG - Sorry about AF. Let's hope next month does the trick.

Emily - have a great trip. I am so jealous!

Denae

Carla: YAY on the baby girl!! Girls are so fun (of course, I'm biased). My niece is named Katherine Laurel, and we all call her Katherine.

Thanks for all the info on Clomid, y'all. I agree with you; I don't quit think I'm to that point yet. I actually thought it out on how long we've been trying yesterday, and it's been AUGUST of last year, OCTOBER, NOVEMBER and DECEMBER. I went off the pill in July and lost most of September fighting a sinus infection that resulted in three weeks of antibotics and steriods. So it's only been FOUR real months. :headache: DOH! I'm going to wait at least until the end of the year before I go any further.

I'm 30, and DD is 3.5; I don't want a HUGE age discreptency, but I'm not panicking yet.

Does anyone here use OPK's? I didn't use them last time, but we'd love to do everything we can to conceive again when we're given the go ahead. So, I've been charting & thought about the OPk's - does anyone here have recommendations on them? Do they help, or are they a waste of $$? Brand recommendations, or ones I should stay away from? TIA! :)

I started using OPK's two cycles ago, and I've found it to be especially helpful because I'm so irregular. The combination of charting + OPK's has made it very clear when to start the BD. Since temps go up only after O, I like using the OPK's to time BD to the right days. Plus, if we do have trouble TTC, I think it will help the conversation with the Dr. if I can show that we did BD on the days the OPK's said I'm fertile.

I'm cheap, so I get the cheap sticks from babyhopes.com. Those involve peeing in a cup, so I now have my designated "Pee cup" (which has now been labeled as such to clear up any confusion...;) ). The instructions for these OPK's are on the babyhopes website, and are not mailed in the box with the test strips. There's no handle or anything - just a little strip in a sealed package. Pee in the cup, dip the stick in, lay the stick flat, and wait. Two lines = close to O. One line = no O yet. Nothing fancy at all, but it gets the job done. Plus the babyhopes people send some "baby dust" with each order! That's fun, although DH doesn't get it.

I'm in almost the exact same situation! I went off the pill in June, but didn't REALLY start trying until September or so, so only really about 4 months for me too. I'm 28 and DS is 3.5 as well, and I also don't want a huge age difference. If DS turns 5 and I'm still not pregnant, I think then I will reevaluate our situation. I don't want to go through a lot of fertility stuff as I feel I should just be thankful for having DS and leave things as they are. Hopefully that time never comes, but we'll see.

I'm pretty sure there will be no special souvineer from WDW. I'm feeling very PMS-y today, so I'm sure AF is on her way.

SO hopefully next month I'll actually chart the entire month AND BD on the right days! I still haven't accomplished that yet! :sad2:

Emily- i am with you, i finally broke down and just bought a bigger size until i drop this weight. i plan to hit the gym next week and the week after, since i will only be on bcp and then lupron- i shouldn't feel like crap like before hopefully.

Carla- congrats on the little girl- great name. you gave me the idea to maybe use my grandpa's name (or my grandma's, since he would love that too) if we have a little one wtih IVF- it would be a great way to show our appreciation to him. i am so thrilled for you! so have you gained any weight in the pregnancy?

Imarriedgrumpy- so sorry to hear about AF. she always gets our hopes up, then shows up the last minute and tricks us, i hate that. i am so sorry.

thanks everyone for you support- Danae, Skuttle and all those mentioned above etc.

btw- just emailing here from the AKL. it's nice- had drinks in the lounge and just had dinner at cali grill! yummy! my room is nice, but way at the end of the hotel---it's a haul! i don't have a savanna view per say- but can see some- i am just on the end, not really facing the good view though. i am loving watching all the disney update channels and top 7 etc. in the room! lol....time for bed- gotta be up at 6am to work the booth until 1pm. then off to epcot! yeah!

IMarriedGrumpy - I think I missed your post yesterday about AF - sorry she showed her ugly face this month. :sad1: Thanks for the OPK info - I'll go check out that website today. :thumbsup2 I agree - I think it's good to be able to show that we were doing everything at the right time if we ever need more help from the Doc.

Michelle - How exciting that you're writing from the AKL!! :yay: Glad to hear you enjoyed Cali Grill!! I hope you have a blast at Epcot this afternoon - it looks like nice weather down there this week. I think using your Grandma/Grandpa's name if your IVF is successful is an awesome idea. :goodvibes I'm sure he would be very happy about that. My jeans feel so much better today (not digging into my tummy at work.) LOL It's hard to go & buy the bigger size, but I also figure that if I get a BFP in the next couple months I can wear this a bit longer than my other jeans. I've lost a couple pounds, but am heading to WDW in less than a week! :scared1: I'm sure I won't be losing much weight down there! :lmao:

Skuttle - sorry you're feeling PMS'y - hoping AF doesn't show for you! ;) I love the pic of your DS - looks like he's having a blast!! What a cutie! :goodvibes

FF still isn't showing an O date for me (I thought I may have O'd 2-3 days ago.) I'm worried that my coverline is all messed up & FF won't show an O date this month. My temps were very high right after the D&C & then I temped 2-3 hours later than normal for a week and a half around Christmas when I was off work. Who knows what's going on in there right now! LOL

It's freezing here this morning & the FL forecast is looking up again this morning for our trip next week. Highs in the 70's & lows in the 50's - still trying to figure out what type of shorts/jeans ratio I need to pack. I know in Jan 2005 we regretted not bringing enough jeans & sweatshirts & we froze!! Looking forward to the weekend - I only have to get up & come into work 3 more times until Disney!! I hope everyone is having a good day~

Michelle-Glad you are having a great time in WDW. Say hello to Nemo for me. :goodvibes I think naming your child using family names is great. I would do the same but I wouldn't put a child through that as my grandpa has a very Norwegian name and my grandma's was very "old country". My DH won't let me name and future boy what I want because he is afraid the kid will get beat up in school but I don't think "Tristain Lucas" is that bad...:confused3

Emily-Sorry about the weight. I have put on about 10lbs since we started trying (9 cycles ago) because when I get stressed out I eat...and not good food :guilty: But just think...when you get pregnant again you won't have to worry about it for 40 weeks :) YEAH for only 3 work days till WDW

Well it is snowing again and colder than a well diggers butt...so we got the fire going and staying indoors today. I can't wait for spring so I can get out and walk. I saw a really cute bathing suit yesterday and bought the same size I wore last year. Went home and tried it on :scared: :scared1: NOT GOOD :sad2:

So now I'm 2-3dpo...maybe I will get to buy a maternity bathing suit for our trip...I really hope so!!!

Baby Dust to all :wizard:

IMarriedGrumpy, thanks for that link. I think I may order those too.

Michelle, glad to hear you are having a good time.

Rebecca, lots of :wizard:

It looks as though AF is here. I've been having brown spotting and today it's red so it looks as though this cycle was a bust. It sucks too. My cycle can be irregular, but is around 40 days. I hate that I have to wait so long; why can't I have a nice normal 28 day cycle?
