thanks Carla for the reassurance! i don't have discovery health, at least i don't think so, but i'll look and DVR it if i do! so how many embryos did you have left to freeze? wow, didn't know that about the girl sperm....interesting! can't wait to hear how your appt went!Michelle, I'm sorry about AF. If you have Discovery Health Channel, they have a show called The Baby Lab. It's on today at 2pm and it's on tomorrow (might be a different episode, not sure) tomorrow at 10am and 2pm. It follows couples through IVF. I came up with a few benefits of IVF. 1. Who else gets to see their kids as follicles and then embryos? and 2. When I go back for siblings, I may be almost 32, but my embryos will be made from 29/30 year old eggs. Have to find a bright side somewhere, right??![]()
gypsydoodlebug, the only s/e I had from Clomid was a hot flash here and there and a headache here and there. Most of the s/e come AFTER you're done taking it - sore bb's, nausea...basically pregnancy symptoms multiplied. You really shouldn't take Clomid until you've had an HSG and your DH has an SA. If there is a new tubal problem or sperm issue, you'll be medicating for nothing. Clomid, even though it's considered the starter drug for infertility, is very serious. It can cause cysts. It can thin the lining of your uterus. It shouldn't be taken for more than 3 months in a row and no more than 6 months altogether. You should also be monitored with blood and ultrasound during and after. I was on 50mg (the lowest dose without cutting a pill in half) and I ended up with 7 follicles. If even half of those had mature eggs that fertilized, I'd be looking at triplets or quads. My doctor told me no BD because the risk was too high. There is also a risk of OHSS, which is very serious. So, if you're thinking of Clomid, I'd make sure the doctor handing it out to you knows it's much more than Tylenol because a lot of GYNs seem to think it's candy.
Today is my big u/s. I've been thinking boy since I found out I was pregnant, so we'll see. It seems IVF/ICSI has a bigger percentage of girls since girl sperm are usually better looking and those are the ones they select for ICSI. It'll be interesting to find out. It's not until 4pm. The suspense is killing me!
well today was okay....except i had a um....accident at work. i never bleed heavy, but today i bled through my pants. that hasn't happened since high school! so i had to run home and change. i guess i am just shedding a lot of lining...or maybe i was pregnant for a very short time and didn't know or just didn't stick....who knows. anyways, it is crazy heavy for me.
made the call to grandpa today too....to ask for the financial help. It was so hard asking. but he said how much... i told him $11k and he said he was going today to send me a cashier's check. i can't believe how lucky and blessed I am to have such a wonderful grandpa. I wish he lived closer so I could see him more. He is 80 and my grandma passed away about 3 years ago. He lives in Columbia, SC alone (but lots of friends and relatives nearby, including my aunt). Anyways- i am so thankful to him. I go for my IVF orientation on 1/24....even though i start lupron on 1/22. they don't have another class until then. should be interesting to learn more about the sciene of how it works. Carla- feel free to email me any tips or details on IVF. i want to do everything i can to help it along.
and i can't believe i am going to orlando tomorrow. I just realized i didn't rent a car yet....duh! so i got online and National still had some cars. There are 40k people at this show, so I figured they could be out of cars, but they weren't. got a nice intermediate to cruise around town in and visit the mouse! i'll get a parking pass since i am staying on site, right? so i won't have to pay for parking at the parks?
