Thanks all of you for the warm welcome. Congrats to Minnesota and KimR!

Names....we don't really have any that we agree on. I really like Natalie for a girl, but I don't know...it kind of sounds weird with my daughters name, Madeline. I like Avery too. For a boy...hmmm...that is tough.

Oh, and if any of you Mommies of toddlers have any tips on visiting WDW with a nearly two year old, I'd love to hear them as we are leaving for the WL on Saturday! :Pinkbounc

Also - Becky - where are you staying at WDW? We leave in just 10 days - staying at the POP!!!! I can't wait :O)

We are staying at POP too!! How funny! :teeth: AND- CONGRATS ON YOUR BFP!!!!! I knew this pixiedust: would work!!! How exciting!

NOW- you girls with BFP's need to spread the dust around, no sense in hogging it now!! :teeth:

QOTD: For a boy, dh and I have picked out Spencer Thomas (Thomas is dh and fil's middle name.

For a girl, the first name will be Vayla, and we'll call her Vaylie (like Hailey). Don't know about a middle name yet, though. Probably Marie, after dh's mom's middle name.

Reread for QOTD- 5/10! (since I'm up late, I'm going to try to remember to post the QOTD the night before).

QOTD- I have been reading everything I can get my hands on!! I have: What to Expect When You're Expecting; The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy; Your Pregnancy Week by Week; TCOYF... They all have their good points and bad points, really.

Dh has "The Expectant Father" and really loves it- he bought his brother a copy too (SIL is preggers with our 1st niece/nephew!).

QOTD (5/10) : Have you read any good books about ttc, pregnancy, infertility or parenting (or any other related topic)? Any books you highly reccomend?[/QUOTE]

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Baby 411. The author is Dr. Ari Brown, written with Alan and Denise Fields of "Baby Bargains" (oh, and I recommend that book too.) I just can't tell you how much I consulted that book during the first year of Madeline's life. It is funny and easy to read, and just plain entertaining and FULL of great information.

I wish that Dr. Brown practiced around here, I would love to have her as Maddie's pediatrician.

QOTD 5/10: I haven't read anything. I have heard that Happiest Baby On The Block was good. Has anyone ever read it? I figured when I got to a point where I was "safe" - you know....34/35 weeks ;) that I would pick it up. I would like to read some books about staying healthy and fit during pregnancy - stretching and nutrition, stuff like that. What to eat to get nutrients and keep swelling to a minimum and what sort of stretching to do so I don't get really stiff and sore.

I'm open for any recommendations from people who have been there! :)

I read Happiest Baby on the Block and we used Dr. Karp's techniques with Madeline while she was a newborn and they really worked for us! Especially the swaddling. She slept so much better at night, and LONGER when she was really tightly swaddled. Plus, she looked soooo cute being wrapped up like a little tiny baby burrito... Anyway, the author has a DVD out too, which we got from the library.

QOTD 5/10: I have read What to Expect when your Expecting, Your pregnancy week by week, Johnson & Johnson's Mother and Baby (lots of great photos and practical information) and another one with great pictures I can't remember. Those are the only "informative" books I have. I want to get DH the Expecant Father book but I am waiting until we get a BFP for that. I have read Baby Trials (it was ok dealt with fertility issues) and that book that blonde from MTV wrote. Can't remember her name for the life of me!!

Anyone have new sxs today? Yes, I am obsessed! I am 8DPO right now according to Ovusoft and 6DPO according to FF. I POAS this AM, bad me I know, of course it was BFN. The good news is it was the last one in the house and I WILL NOT buy any until next week (ok well maybe the weekend!). My temp went up again today to 98.4, it was 98.2 yesterday and I had night sweats again last night. That NEVER happens to me. I am usually cold and we had the AC on! Some AF type cramps today, I keep touching my belly b/c I get confused on where the pains are coming from but there are defiently AF type. I usually don't get those until she starts... I have a great feeling....I hope! I had it last month too though! :) We won't be able to try again until August so hopefully.....

:)

QOTD 5/10: I've read "What to Expect" and "Fearless Pregnancy" so far. I really like Fearless Pregnancy - one of the key quotes is "The key is that the fear must be valid, and it must be used properly -- to inquire, explore, and act wisely." It's aimed at women who are in their first pregnancy and haven't had any medical conditions requiring extra caution. It's helped me stop worrying about every little thing and given me a better perspective on the whole process.

Congratulations Minnesota and KimR - that's awesome!!! :)

Hopefully this rubs off on the rest of us...

DH doesn't really want to consider names yet - he thinks it's bad luck to discuss before I'm actually pregnant. I have a bunch running around in my head, but no idea what he thinks about any of it.

Thanks for all of the book suggestions. So far, all of the stuff I've read has been medical textbookish, trying to work out as much of the infertility stuff as I can for myself. I work in medicine (unfortunately not OB/GYN, just family medicine), so I really only knew the basics, and am now trying to learn everything else. DH keeps reminding me that I'm just trying to get pregnant, not to become an RE :) I think it's a control thing for me - the more I know, the less suprises there are in that respect. Someone else on this thread mentioned liking all of the charting and stuff as a way to control part of the process, and I agree completely.

Good luck to all of you waiting to find out for this month!

Jen

lil mermaid: I'll definitely get that book and see if I can find the DVD. Not yet, of course.....but, it'll be a good present for myself when I reach whatever milestone I'm hoping for. ;)

D Mickey: Testing at 8DPO..... :teeth: I once wasted a test when I had an HCG shot just to see the positive test. I had never seen one and thought it would be fun. That's $10. I'll never get back. :rotfl:

Jen: I think it's important to know as much as possible without having to be an RE. You need to know as much as possible so you can ask questions and give opinions. For me, it gives me something to worry about. It's what I do. I worry. :teeth: I don't feel in control if I'm not worried about something! My DH tells me the same thing - as does my RE - just relax and let her do the thinking and worrying. Yeah....OK. :rotfl2:

Hey everyone! :wave2:

I'm trying not to read into any symptoms since I'm only around 8 DPO or so, but last night I was so hot I could not go to sleep. I musta turned down the air twice. And it took me forever to settle down, I was up for over 90 mins past my bedtime. Now today I feel a little achy - i sure hope I'm not coming down with anything. I'd much rather be pregnant than sick!

QOTD: I bought Conception, Pregnancy & Birth several years back and it's very imformative. I also borrowed What to Expect and What to Expect When Your Wife is Expanding from my very fertile sister. That last one is hilarious - lots of DHs on here would like it.

My friend has Belly Laughs which I want to borrow. Looks funny!

Speaking of testing early, I have to ask. How many of us have tested early? Go on, admit it!!

Yup, that would be me. I tested at 9 DPO. That has to be a record for me but we were going out with friends that evening and I figured if I had to forgo the alcohol I wanted to have a darn good reason to! :teeth:

OK- so I am charting, and I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else. I wake up at 8:30 AM to take my temp, and for the past few days it has been 96.8 nearly every day.

Anyone else get the same temp over and over?

It seems like most of the charts I have seen (not mine) have pretty varied temps- and I checked my temp a few minutes ago (to make sure my thermometer wasn't just stuck) and I was at 97.7... SO, it's not my thermometer. I don't know- the temp thing just seems odd that it would be 96.8 so often. My chart looks like a flat line with the occasional bump.

I have taken a pregnancy test but that was about a month ago.
I just have not gotten my period since I stoped the B.C.
I stoped taking it April 9th.
How long does it take to get your period again and can you still get pregnant even if you have not had your period?????? :confused3

It varies. It took me a year to ovulate after stopping BCP when trying to conceive DD2, but don't worry - that is somewhat unusual. With DD#3 it took about 2 or 3 months which I think is fairly normal. And yes, you can get pregnant even if you have not had your period but it is not recommended because it makes it more difficult to date your pregnancy. Of course if you are charting you would know when you ovulated, but for some reason most OBs (at least mine) don't seem to put as much stock in temp charts - they like to have that LMP!

The doctor had to give me RX to get me to start. I have been trying for 1 year with no luck but I do have infertility issues. I have severe endometriosis and had another laporoscopy done last November with the hopes it would help but no luck yet. I am blessed with one child and got pregnant with him immediately after my laporoscopy before so I have been pretty disappointed so far but try to stay positive because we know we are very fortunate to have our son. I havent had a chance to read through all of the posts but plan to this weekend. Good luck to all!

I've had lots of issues with Endometriosis...had severe abdominal pain 3 years ago and after an exploratory laproscopy, found out my tubes were blocked and I was basically a mess down there (to make a long story short). Went on Lupron which sent me into menopause for 6 long months to try and shrink the growths and clean me up a bit. After that, been on continuous bc so I haven't had a period in almost 3 years. I know that I have to go off the bc to TTC, but I'm nervous about how fast the Endo will start growing again. Ironic thing is my DH is starting his OB-GYN residency in July, so I'll have lots of experts close at hand. Guess that's a good thing! :)

I have endo also and went through the same thing. When I had my first laproscopy in Jan 2000 my tubes were blocked and they cleared everything out and I got pregnant in March of that year. After I had my son in Dec 2000 I went on the pill and stayed on the pill until we started trying a year ago. I had to take RX to make my periods start and then started Clomid a few months later due to my history. I had to have another laproscopy last Nov and was expecting it to turn out the way it did before and get pregnant shortly thereafter but still trying. My dr. told me my best chances to get pregnant after the endo are the first three months after laproscopy so I am getting discouraged as it has been over 6 months since my surgery. Also, just so you know, it was my impression too that by being on the pill it would keep the endo from coming back so I was completely confused after my surgery when they told me it was worse than before and I had been on the pill for 4 years with no periods. The dr. told me that being on BC continuously does help keep it from growing as fast but that it is still there. Don't be too worried though because I think that will not help in TTC. Easy for me to say but I was blessed with one child so far following Endo so there is hope! Trying to beat the odds and go for #2. Also, my first surgery revealed the scar tissue, growths etc blcoking my tubes and once that was removed I got pregnant right away but this last surgery revealed less scar tissue and no blockage of my tubes but that the endo is on many organs and on my tubes which the dr. said could be damaging so he couldnt remove alot of it. I know this may be confusing and sorry if it is. I have a f/u tomorrow to discuss our next option.

Yes. Emily is living proof. Hannah was born Sept. 2, I was nursing, had not gotten a period, and spent 2 1/2 years trying the first time. I found out I was 7 weeks PG on January 1. From what I understand, it is O first, then AF.

Yup, mine is like this. When I wake up around 6:30, I'll check and my pre-O temps are always around 96.7. Once I O, it jumps up to about 97.7. My chart looks pretty textbook, although it hasn't helped me get knocked up yet.

Anyway, if yours does the same, consider yourself lucky! Trying to figure out an erratic chart makes you  !
