Any other DISers trying to concieve? Reread OP for the QOTD!

Becky ~ the Ovusoft program is TCOYF charting program. Have you tried the free trial yet? I have four days left on the free trial and I really like it. It's much more smooth and intuitive than FF.com or Babymed.com. Plus I like the O date it gave me this month instead of the one FF gave me!! I want to get it, I think it's $39.99 but then I am worried if I get my BFP this month, I won't need it! I guess by getting it I am upping my chances of getting the BFP this month!! The only reason I wouldn't get it is b/c I might get lucky with a BFP and it would be useless!

Af is due 5/18 will do first and only test on Mother's Day @ 10 DPO and if no sxs by then will wait for AF. Ok, will TRY to wait for AF! Who's next for AF?

DMickey28- I am using the trial version of the TCOYF program too! I just started, so I have 12 days left of the trial. But, I'm in the same boat: I don't want to spend $40 on it if I'm going to get a BFP!

But, who knows if I'll get a BFP... I don't even know when to expect AF, because it came on CD 20 last cycle. Hopefully,this cycle will be more normal, but I have no clue what to expect. I'm just going to keep charting and hopefully I'll notice a temp spike. Otherwise, if I haven't heard from AF by the end of may, I'll take a HPT.

That's what I really remember about TTC. We were on a schedule - on command - it sucked! It was supposed to be this wonderful moment between two people who loved each other so much, they wanted to bring into the world another little human being to share that love. Now it's all about 2WW and AF and O and BFP and shots and ultrasound wands and drugs that make us crazy.

It's still worth it in the end.

You know what's amazing? Once we decided to go the IVF route, the part got fun again! No pressure. No timing. The bad part now is the restriction - for weeks and weeks at a time. It's ironic, too. In order to get pregnant, I'm put on birth control pills and told I can't do the one thing that is SUPPOSED to cause pregnancy!

I often wonder what I'll tell my kids. "Mom, where do babies come from?" "Well, NORMALLY......but, in YOUR case....oh, and here is the little dish where you were created!" I keep all my little dishes and my hospital wrist bands in the hope of putting them in a baby book. "Mom....what's this little dish...." Ummmm.....

Dh and I are still having fun. Then again, we've just started ttc. He's not complaining about getting to BD more often!!

I'm trying to keep my own perspective light and positive, too, so that it CAN be fun. But, I also want to maximize our chances of concieving. I'm just trying to maintain a balance, you know?

I think part of my problem/obsession is that once we decided we were absolutely sure we wanted to start ttc, I wanted to concieve RIGHT THEN AND THERE. No waiting for me! I hate the waiting. When I'm ready, I'm ready: but, when you're ttc, it doesn't matter how ready YOU are. It's not like, "Ok, I am ready to eat dinner." So you go in the kitchen, dial Pizza Huts number, and get your pizza. Very little wait involved.

Now, "Ok I'm ready to concieve." So you ditch the BC, and BD like crazy, only to have AF show up and promptly let you know that it didn't matter that you were ready, God has different plans. And that you can BD all you want, but if you miss your O window, you have to wait ANOTHER month.

I think that's why it's comforting to me to chart and plan and read everything, because it gives me the illusion of control over SOMETHING.

QOTD- I pop around two diff websites...both kinda geeky really. One is the American Pregnancy association www.americanpregnancy.org and the other is www.pregnancy.org
Pregnancy.org has lots of good info and a community. Since I just started, I don't have a whole bunch of researching done yet

QOTD: The one website I frequent is the babies board on The Nest. You get a fair amount of trolls on there, but some of those girls I recognize since I was on theKnot planning my wedding. I also like SheKnows, but their boards are so specific, they are pretty slow.

I'm either 4 or 6 DPO, so I won't be testing for another week. I may test Sunday for the heck of it. That would be a cool surprise, although I think my chances this month of a BFP are slim to none. Which is really kinda ok because I want a summer baby and we just bought all this Jaeger I'm really wanting to enjoy...

Please excuse my ignorance.......but could someone enlighten me on some of the abbreviations that you're all using (ie. BFP, DPO, BD, TCOYF, etc..)? The only two abbreviations I've understood are "Question of the day" and "Trying to Conceive!!".

As you can tell, we're not TTC just yet. Once we do, I see I have A LOT of reading to do!!!! Thanks all, and good luck!!

BFP = Big Fat Positive (on pregnancy test) I had to look this one up today
DPO = Days Past Ovulation
BD = Baby Dance (lovemaking during your fertile period)
TCOYF = Taking Charge of Your Fertility (book by Toni Weschler)

Sure!!!
BFP= Big Fat Positive (as in I got a big fat positive pregnancy test result!)

DPO- Days Past or Days Post Ovulation

BD- Baby Dance (slang for intercourse)

TCOYF- Taking Charge of Your Fertility (A bible in the hands of women charting their temps and trying to concieve)

AF- Aunt Flo (period)

BFN- Big fat negative

HPT- home pregnancy test

OPK- Ovulation predictor kits

2ww- 2 week wait (the time after you ovulated but before your period when you're not quite sure if you got pregnant this month)

CD- cycle day (the 1st day of your period is day 1; then count from there... The day before your next period is your last cycle day for that cycle).

Umm, there are many, many more that I can't think of off the top of my head- but if you ever have a question, just ask!!! That's why we're all here!!

Also, if you go to twoweekwait.com, they have a lingo dictionary that is much more extensive!

Hmmm. I don't know. I would watch what your temp does the next couple of days. You might have to take a couple of tests or wait a little later to test.

I hope you don't mind if I join y'all, because I am not sure if I am TTC or not at this point. I have one perfect and beautiful nearly two year old daughter.

I don't have any problem getting pregnant. I just can't stay pregnant. I just had my third miscarriage on April 5. My first one was a set of twins that I miscarried before Madeline was born, and the second one was last summer.

They haven't found any reason for my miscarriages, so I am still sort of trying to figure out what to do next. We want to give Madeline a sibling, but I am a bit nervous about trying again. I hope that it is okay with you if I hang out here until I figure it out.

How is everyone today?

As far as the QOTD (names picked out)...I go back and forth. DH has wanted a little girl named Noelle for SO long. I think it's a gorgeous name, but 1) I don't think it goes with our last name, 2) It doesn't feel like "the" name and 3) I really enjoy the going through the baby name books and I hate having something settled!! LOL.

For a boy, my newest favorite is Collin. Or Matthew. Or Joseph. Who knows. My son (Lucas) was "Ryan" through the whole pregnancy. Then, all the sudden, it didn't feel right. We added Lucas to the list the week he was born and once I saw/heard him, I knew he was a Lucas.

Well, I took 2 HPT's - one was negative, one was positive. Both from the same box (Target generics). Going to go get another test in a bit - just so I can think about something else!


Lil Mermaid - I am sorry to hear of your losses. I have BTDT and it is terrifying to even think of jumping back in the saddle! Looks like our kids are pretty close in age - my son will be 2 on 6/22.

My temp today went up to 98.2 from 98.1 the last two days. I haven't had a chance to put it into the Ovusoft yet b/c that is at home and I don't have time in the morning. I think today I am going to buy it. That way at least I have it forever! The only thing I need to check out is the computer I have it on right now is not the one I want to keep it on forever! According to that I am 7DPO right now... who knows. Keeping with the cramping and stuff. I had a meltdown this AM... crying at work, not good. The only prob with that is that I have bouts with mild depression and while I have been on meds for a while without skipping any, emotional breakdowns can be attributed to alot. But the crying at work hasn't happened before! Who knows!

QOTD 5/9: We talk about names all the time. For a girl we were set on Alexandra for a while, we both wanted to call her Allie. Now we like Ella too, and we had a name that we could make that from but I don't remember it!! I like Rachel too. Meaghan is nice as well... No clue! For boys we like William Robert, Robert Brady (we would probably go by R. Brady Ourlastname). William would remain a William, not Bill or Billy, maybe Will when he got older but who knows! We also like Rhett (I like Everett but DH doesn't). Baby shall remain nameless until Elementary school! I also like Grace but DH doesn't. Our friends are going with Shawnie for a girl.. thought it was different.

You can get a false negative, but NEVER a false positive!! I would definatly say that you are pg!!! Congrats!! You and I were due about the same time when you were pg with Lucus.

Names....names....names....I've decided I have to have a girl because all boy names remind me of some guy I hate. I've been thinking of giving any daughter my RE's name as her middle name. I picked Katherine Shaila. This will absolutely KILL my mother, but she'll get over it. Call her Kate and end it.

I hope everyone gets positives....maybe it'll be a lucky group and some of it will rub off on me!
