Any nurses here wear Croc's?

I used to wear crocs to work, but they recently stopped letting us wear the ones with holes, we can't even wear them with shoe covers over them. They told us it's a new law, but I can't remember if it's OSHA or JAHCO that's not letting us wear them anymore. I just went back to my old Nike mules for now until I decide I want to spend the money for new crocs without the holes.

My mom is a nurse also, and she did fall in hers at work and got hurt pretty bad. She was running into a pt. room who was falling out of bed, and as she rounded the corner into the room, she said it felt like her shoe stuck to the floor. She went flying across the room and landed hard on the floor. She hit her head, and her leg was bruised badly from her hip to her knee. She has several pair of crocs and won't wear them at all anymore. Unfortunately, they're all too big for me!

So I am comparing the Professional, Beach or Cayman (which look exactly the same to me!)

The Endeavor looks like it will be too hot with no air holes at all....

Of course I can't get over how cute those darn Mary Janes are tho!

I'm curious if the holes on top of the shoes cause any clean up issues at all for daily use......perhaps spills and such?

The beach shoes are sized S,M,L, XL ..the Cayman come in sizes. I think the Caymans have a closer fit not quite so wide. Caymans are my first choice.

My friend is an anesthesia resident, and she wears the closed crocs in the OR. To keep germs from spreading home, she has work shoes that don't leave the hospital.

I live in my crocs at work I wear my beach ones but recentlty bought some endevers to wear in lovely winter weather.

Hi. I work in an ICU and love my beach crocs. I usually wear the hospital issued scrubs so my bright pink crocks stick out. I have never had a problem running in them when we get called to an emergency. I used to wear the dansko clogs and also tennis shoes, but these are very comfortable. I even got some matching jibbitz. I hope that they do not get banned from the unit!

I am a nurse in L&D so lets just say there is an ick/fluid factor involved. I wear the professional croc and love it, no holes on top, but venting on the sides that have elevated channel like things around it so in the case of .......... it does not go in the vents, you would have to step in a huge puddle to have an issue. I do find with the surgery shoe covers my feet do get hot, so I think the ones with no venting would get a little sweaty. I loved danskos and still do, however they always got stinky, all my varieties including sandles, and my tennies are not stinky so I don't think it is just my feet. I also like the professional as the sizing was more exact. My work shoes fit well, where my diney crocs are loose. I love the price and the way they can be cleaned too. I do not where mine out of the hospital unless for vacation and then I clean them before and after.
Also for you dansko clog lovers out there have any of you ever tried the clogs in the LLBean catalog? They look just like Danskos, but 1/2 the cost. :confused3 I have not tried them.

As nursing students, we are not allowed to wear them at my school. But MANY of the nurses at the hospital we do clinicals at wear them in all different colors, with and without holes. I am interested in the professional ones - how much are they?

they run around 35.00/pr. They come in colors but I personally have not seen all the more "wild" colors in professional style.

I used to wear them to work, but when I changed hospitals in July I started getting shocked! Every time I would touch something metal or touch a patient i would get zapped! I went back to my sore feet and danskos. :(

Danskos are AWESOME!!! I got my first pair at the Walking Store and paid full price, but have purchased all my pairs since at the Dansko Outlet where you can get them for about half price. Actually, I need to head out there again and get some replacements! If you aren't fortunate enough to live near the outlet, you can order them more cheaply online at their clearance store. I like the ones with the backs so I don't walk out of them running around the ER. When I did my surgery rotation, the backless ones were better for just standing.

Do you have a Marty's shoe outlet in your area? I just got a pair of Dansko's for $50.00 (50% off sale, reg price $99.00). I know they are pricey, but they are really good, and I think that if you are going to spend money, spend it in good shoes. I also wanted to buy the Croc's professional style, since the holes are on the side instead, but now I have to wait (since I spended the money on the Dansko's).

I found a pair of Crocs in fuschia, for $5.00 at Nordstrom (beach style) and decided to buy them just to see if I liked them. I  them! I just wear them around in the house and while doing errands, since I'm a student nurse in a MS degree (I can't wear certain colors...)

I am a surgical tech/just passed my boards RN, and I wear Crocs in the OR. I LOVE them. Tome, they are soooo much more comfortable that my Danskos, and at a third of the price they can't be beat! The other shoes I have, when I had to wear white shoes in nursing school, were Merrill's, and they were really comfy, too!

One word of warning, we have some epuipment at work on casters that have locks on the wheels. (Monitor carts, infant warmers, chairs etc) With my danskos I could always kick the lock to unlock it and mve the item. In my crocs because they are soft I cannot. Once in a while because of the way the wheel has turned I have to bend over and push it wil my hand because I cannot get it undone. I still love the crocs and was probably no supposed to be kicking the locks quite so hard anyhow.:confused3

Yes, I had Merrill's and they are also good, but also in the 60-80 dollars range.
Congrats on passing your boards! from a fellow RN and Johanna (same spelling too).

I love my Landua nursing shoes. They are the comfiest I have worn and my feet don't throb anymore at the end of a shift:goodvibes They were about $5o and worth every penny;)

Crocs for me at work!!! (I'm an RN.) Many others wear them, too. I have the Disney ones, but don't wear them too often to work. My usual work shoes have the holes in the tops, but most of the holes are covered with Disney Jibbitz!:cool1:

I am a CRNA and moved to Crocs from sneakers awhile back, they are so nice. I tried the non-ventilated types...too hot. Got 4 pair of the hole filled ones. Not much fluid and such at the head of the bed. So no problems. Of course, they are autoclave-able and could go through the OR washer if I really needed to.

How funny is that! You don't often meet people with this spelling!

I'm not a nurse, but work in a hospital. I wear them and see a lot of the RN, social work and other hospital staff wearing them. I am wearing them because I am pregnant right now and they are the best for working all day. I haven't swelled as much with this pregnancy and I am assuming it is because I have comfortable non constraining shoes on.

DS had minor surgery last week, and while we were in the recovery room, there were so many nurses with CROCS on.

I was glad I decided to purchase a pair for WDW. They must be comfortable if RN's who are on their feet all day pick them as their shoe of choice.:)
