This is the parent of a 3 year old speaking...

Anyway, our DD is pretty much all potty-trained; but she sometimes get afraid of using the auto flush toilets. I don't know if she thinks she's gonna get sucked down or what.... you know how sporadic those toilets can be sometimes.

So does anyone know of any non-auto flush toilets in the parks????

Our only other solution that we've been able to come up with in the meantime (yet, haven't been able to try it yet), is to place one those free Mickey stickers over the sensor; and maybe give a her a spiel about Mickey not letting the toilet flush. Maybe that'll just be my best bet. But if say we're passing the non-auto potties, at least we can "try" at those spots.

Thanks for your help!!!!

Some guests carry Post-It Notes (larger size) and use one to cover the sensor.

Toilet paper over the sensor works too. DD1 was terrified of them after one went off on her at a store. We had to get creative to get her to use a toilet in public again so I feel your pain.

I've been into more than one stall over the course of our visits which have had a Mickey sticker over the sensor. You gotta do what you gotta do :rotfl:

Post it notes are a good idea :thumbsup2

I would use a Post-It over a sticker because the stickers don't always come off. This means the janitors have more work to do and guests who don't realize the toilet won't flush automatically/don't realize there's a manual flush button on the sensor will leave their business behind for the next guest.

If you're in the stall with your DD, like my mom was for me in crowded WDW restrooms when I was young, just place your hand over the sensor.

Thanks for the replies. The post-it note idea is really good.

Don't think I'll be placing my hand in areas if I don't need to. You never know how crazy some guests may get. ;)

Please don't use a sticker. They don't always come off. If you don't have post it notes with you, just lay some TP over the sensor.

And remember to un-lay it when you leave the stall, so it will work normally for the next guest.

My daughter has a major issue with automatic flush toilets. Which is ironic, because she suddenly on her own decided at about 2 while visiting WDW that she wanted to learn to use the potty. About 10 minutes after getting a Belle dress and putting it on. That was fun. She did it the rest of the week, all automatic flush toilets except at the hotel.

But, every trip after that she was terrified of the automatic flush, and even now, at almost 6 still hates them and at times will hold her bathroom needs unnecessarily long to avoid automatic flush toilets. In many places in WDW just using toilet paper is possible. But, in others the set up makes that hard. So I got the post it note recommendation from a friend and problem solved:thumbsup2 She will still get nervous sometimes because the toilets are all loud, and if the stall next to her flushes she worries it is hers. But when she knows I have the post its she will always go when needed. Good luck!

I completely know what you mean about the toilets in the other stalls going. It was a nightmare in the mall one time. Plus, it made me very uncomfortable being in the men's restroom and having her absolutely freak out in the stall. That's the one thing I really hate about this whole auto-flush situation.

And to be clear, I wouldn't have used the entire sticker per se. I'd just fold the paper backing down a tiny bit, just for enough of it to stick. Hey, I need to get it back off myself!!! It was just a resourceful idea of something to do on the fly.

And like someone said, the toilet paper thing can be a pain sometimes; especially if the metal panel doesn't give you anywhere to tuck it.

The baby centers (one in each park) usually have a toddler potty. It's sized for little kids and is manual flush (at least I think it is).

They aren't always open, but if the Wonders of Life pavilion at Epcot is open, I believe they still have the old manual flush toilets.

When we took the Keys to the Kingdom tour our guide told us all the baby care centers had manual flush toilets, this was done to prevent scaring kids.

May I suggest something with the Post-It notes? Have the *child* put up the Post-It and not the parent.

Children often will have a problem like this early on but if they are in control of the situation, they can make the determination as to when it ends. Maybe that's when they are five or seven or eighteen. But it's up to them, not the parent. And if it never ends, the child can still go to the bathroom without a parent to put up the Post It note for them.

Can I just say how happy I am that I saw this post? :thumbsup2

My DD6 hates auto-flush toilets and will hold it rather than use them most of the time. We have our first family WDW trip in March, and I haven't been myself in 18 years, so I hadn't even considered what kind of toilets there might be <-- that's not usually what your first family Disney trip thoughts are centered on - I'm focused on FP+, dinner ressies, and what not :)

Now I have something new to add to my packing list - PostIts for the toilet sensors!

My twins just turned 6 and they have just now gotten used to the automatic flush. I always did the post-it note trick but called it "magic paper." Once I put the "magic paper" up, they calmed down and used the potty just fine. It may help your little one to call it something fun like this.

Have a great trip!!

Personally as an adult I'm not a fan of the auto flush toilets. I used to be when the toilets were designed by mechanical engineers who put thought into how liquid flows and splashes. The mess the auto toilets now make on the toilet seat are gross.

Now OP if you want to avoid some of the more nasty auto flushers stay out of the new ones in the MK located behind the Haunted Mansion. Holy cow what a freakshow THAT restroom is!
Unfortunately I had to use it several times but I hope to never again.
First you go in and women and children are screaming...they HAD to over the great noise of the jet engine hand dryers.
Next you find your stall, passing up one after another because the seats are literally dripping. Finding not a single dry one available and feeling desperate you decide you'll just bite the bullet and wipe down one of the seats yourself. Realizing it's far too wet to be adequately dried with a sad little wad of toilet paper you find a roll of actual paper towels hanging a bit further down the room.

Ok, all set, toilet seat dry and as you stand up from the cleanup, the toilet suddenly flushes again. Holy crap you think the jet engine hand dryers are loud?

So now the seat is dripping again and I'm wondering how the heck I'm gonna do my business if it keeps flushing on me.
Then I remember a sticky note I had in my pocket and I placed it over the sensor before sitting down.

Well surprise surprise, that little sticker did nothing to stop the flushing so while I sat there the stupid toilet flushed and proceeded to wet my entire backside. Soaking wet. Dripping. Horribly horribly gross.

I...er....so sorry. Went off in a tangent there. So sorry. Lol

*My advice obviously for the OP is to definitely avoid the newer auto flushers at the Magic Kingdom. They are crazy loud, you WILL get wet and postit notes may not stop the flushing.

If you find yourself without a post-it and can't get the toilet paper to stay over the sensor you could try to dampen the toilet paper just a little with a drop of water from the sink and then it will stick over the sensor. I have done this many times for my daughter who was scared of these too.
