I know that the 2020 ticket price increase is not far off but in the past has the announcement come before anyone knew the actual date?? Reason I ask is that for specific financial reasons that I can't get our tickets until next week and my luck is the price increase will occur beforehand and I'll get burned. Fingers crossed the increase is at least 2 weeks away. :tiptoe:

I would not expect an announcement. The increase went into effect on March 12 last year, so hopefully you will have a little more time.

Yeah, I didn't think any announcements have been made in the past for price increases for anything, not just tickets. Here's to hoping.........:)

I am actually thinking that with the seemingly soft sales so far they may do a PR stunt and tell people that they will be raising the prices soon and everyone should hurry and lock in the lower prices now.

Then we find out when they release the new ticket prices they are only a few dollars higher than the old prices total for multiple days worth of tickets.

OR they keep jacking ticket up 8% twice a year and see how long the upper middle class keeps paying.

Last year, Undercover Tourist (and maybe AAA?) still had tickets at the old prices for a bit after the official increase, so that's a back-up option if prices do go up.

For us, the huge jump in resort prices was the real shock. In the end, we lucked out with a Priceline deal for the rooms.

We plan on getting out tickets at UT anyway, but with 8 day Hoppers AND 3 day USO tickets for 3 adults we'll be spending almost $2600 for tickets. A 5% increase for both would be an extra $130 for us, not the end of the world but no one likes to throw away that kind of money for no reason either, that will almost feed us all for a day at WDW, lol!!

If there was any advanced knowledge it was less than 24 hours. I'm thinking best I can recall, no notice.
If you search back in the Ticket thread you can see the chatter and if there was any notice, it will be mentioned there.

I don't know about ticket prices, but I do know they raised the price of the premium Mickey bars. We were in the parks last week and we were surprised at $6.00 and $5.75 for a frozen banana.

This is generally the case.
It is perhaps a good idea to sign up for email alerts, if you want to know about price increases from places that send out WDW updates.

At risk of stating the obvious, you could also go ahead and buy your tickets now, if you know what tickets you need, and have the funds available.

Sometimes UT has a deal if you buy both WDW and Universal in one transaction.

Also, if you are going to WDW for 8 days/ Universal for 3 plus hop, and generally go about once a year, then I suggest looking into Annual Passes. If you go say, the first week of March in 2020, and can go a just a week earlier in 2021 (late Feb), you'll get two trips from 1 set of AP's, and they are likely worth your while.

As I recall, last year's ticket price change was unusually abrupt, but in prior years there were strong rumors a day or two in advance.
