Any Little House on the Prairie Fans?

The guy who played Percival died of AIDS and Allison Arngram became an AIDS activist because of it .

I loved the books and liked the series. I enjoy the repeats, but get irritated with the way Pa isplayed by Michael Landon now that I have FIL issues. Sometimes Pa gets carried away with his ability to save the day.

LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!!!
DH gets me the seasons of it on DVD as they come out!!!!

I really miss this show - and I'm so glad I'm not the ONLY one! Once again the DIS brings us all out of the LHOP "closet". I think my favorite episodes revolve around Mr. Edwards and his singing. They all looked like they were having so much fun and not acting at all. I cried when they blew up the town, and I cried when Michael Landon died. Thanks so much for letting me get that off my chest!!

Loved it!!! I read all of the books as a kid and still have them. I don't know what my favorite episode is. I liked all of them with Mr. Edwards and then I liked the ones with Laura and Almanzo falling in love, and the ones with Nellie and Percival. I have seasons 4 and 5 on DVD ( also season 1 of the Waltons, but that would be a different thread..) :sunny:

Another Little House fan :thumbsup2

One of my favorite episodes is the one where Mrs Oleson becomes a reporter for the local paper and writes half-truths and completely inaccurate information about the members of the community--for example, saying that one resident was illiterate, when in fact this person could read but not in English. Laura and Albert helped out with the printing of the paper and in retaliation they change the Mercantile's ad to say: Special Sale! All merhandise 100% off.

I don't care as much for the episodes in Little House: Next Generation or whatever it was called, in which Laura is grown up and Shannon Doherty plays her niece, Jenny.

I also cried when Michael Landon died. And I will confess, I also like Highway to Heaven. :goodvibes

When James and Cassandra joined the cast, I started calling the show, Little Orphanage on the Prairie. :rotfl:

i love little house-i like the earlier episodes better than the later 1's
we used to have back to back episodes in the morning but not anymore

I love it so much I have the first 4 seasons on DVD. I love the older ones better than the newer ones.

I'm learning a lot about the characters that I didn't know before. I hope I get to see the episode where Manly notices Laura; that's one I think I've missed. I don't know what it is about this show, but it never gets old. I know I'm going to cry during the episodes and I think that's part of the appeal.

I love LHOTP and watched every night as a young girl and watch the reruns when they are on and have 2 seasons on DVD and ask for another one each Christmas. As others have said, it is good wholesome tv for the whole family to watch together. I prefer the later years with Manly and Nellie and Percival, just because I was around the same age as Laura then too. I read all the books and had all of them, but lost some in our many moves. Glad to see there are so many of us here on the DIS!! Though I am not surprised! :thumbsup2

Miss Etta Plum is Michael Landon's daughter - nepotism. She also played the pregnant woman in the stage coach when Mary and Adam were going to receive the Louis Braille award and the stage coach flipped over, etc. And the character played the dishwasher co-worker with Laura Wilder was going to summer school in Arizonia.

Leslie Landon, Michael Landon's daughter, also played a character "Leslie" when she was a little girl in one of the earlier episodes.... The one where half the town gets Typhus as a result of fleas from the rats eating the cornmeal that a guy sells in town.

Michael Landon said that they had to do many "takes" in the scene where he bends down to talk to a very sick Leslie in the makeshift hospital that Dr. Baker set up in the schoolhouse. He kept starting to cry.

DaisyDuck, I could see Michael Landon doing that. I guess there's another episode I haven't seen. I'm hearing about so many that I've missed. I guess I'll make it my mission to keep watching until I seem them all.

It used to drive me nuts that characters kept coming back as other characters. I can't remember specifics I just remember being angry because some of the kids kept coming back as other kids in different episodes. Anyone else remember this or is it just me and I am remembering WRONG??!!???

Love the series!
when it was on TV the 1st time, since I didn't have a VCR ( before the earth's crust cooled, VCR's were pricey) my friend & I called in to work sick so we could see Laura & Almanzo get married!

My dream is to visit the houses. Just loved those books as a child :sunny:
When looking through my Gram's ancient photo album I came upon a photo of 2 girls, dressed just like Laura & Mary, sunhats, high buttoned shoes. They were perched in a tree. It was my Grammy & her sister, Marlow at their farm in Kansas. I feel the Little House show helped me to connect with my Gram's life~

Yes, I remember an example.

One was by actress Kyle Richards. She mostly played Alicia Sanderson...one of the 3 kids that Mr. Edwards & Grace adopted.

In one episode though...when she was older she played a different girl. In that episode....Pa Ingalls went out of town to a see a man about some business & he stayed with the man & his family for a few days. Well, the man was always depressed about a son he'd lost a few years earlier in an accident. The episode was about how he now ignored his wife & other 2 kids...one of them played by Kyle Richards...who USED TO play Alicia.

I kept wanting to yell at the TV...that's ALICIA!!

ANOTHER EXAMPLE...before he played Albert Ingalls... Matthew (or Patrick Laborteaux...I don't remember which brother) always played a young Charles Ingalls in the flashback episodes to Charles & Caroline's childhoods.

I am so glad I was not dreaming. I forgot about ALBERT/CHARLES but I remember now......
