Any Lilly Pulitzer fans get successful at Target yesterday?

It's like Coach and Coach Outlet. The stuff made exclusively for the outlet is nowhere near the quality of the 'real' stuff.

Exactly..or like the clothes Banana Republic makes for their own outlets, which is much worse quality than the real thing.

Ok I get that. But, IMO, those are not knock-offs. Knock-offs to me are something completely different. Fakes. Not a lesser quality made by the same designer.

Carry on....

Yes but who cares, I got two Lilly dresses at Target for $38 each if they last me one Summer Season I will be happy (I also got 10% off with my redcard and pharmacy 5%) :D! They seem to be well constructed, they are lined and the material is not flimsy.

I am not saying it is better or worse, but in general there is a difference. I have been burned before by thinking that the items at the outlet would wear like items at the real store.

That being said, for certain things that you don't wear often or don't expect to use heavily. It is just fine.

I agree. These are not knock offs or fakes, as they are completely licensed, approved, etc. by the manufacturer.

Buying last years stuff at TJ Maxx and Marshalls is one thing. Creating a line for a discount store cheapens the brand to me personally. Yes, Lilly was cute and fun and special to me. Once it went to Target$ it is no longer vulgar special in my book.
Bot now it's out of Target. Extremely limited edition. That seems more special than any regular line :confused3

1. I have no idea who Lilly Pulitzer is.

2. Why was this an event? Some designer has some stuff you can buy at Target. Why was there hooplah and limited availability? What's the point of that?

You don't get it because you're a dude:)
Honestly, I don't get it either. If I see clothes that I like, I buy them. I couldn't care less who made them or in what store they are located. Now purses, that's a different story:rolleyes1

I have quite a bit of Lilly in my closet and so does my daughter. Most years I buy 3-4 new Lilly items for each of us to freshen up or spring/summer wardrobes. I am not buying anything this year due to it being available at Target. I liked Lilly because it was cute, fun, and special. Prostituting it out to Target now makes it no longer special IMHO.

To those who bought it and are happy with it congrats and enjoy. Personally I will just buy more Vineyard Vines this year when I need/want summer clothes that are fun.

I always thought Lilly Pulitzer was fugly, but I wanted to thank you for the laugh. :) It's so exclusive- you can buy it at any mall or on ebay, but a Target line totally ruins the entire designer. I needed a laugh today - thanks!

I don't know who this person is, or what the hoopla was about, but why do you consider them knockoffs if they are made by the same designer? A knockoff would be a fake, right? Not the actual brand.

I agree- they are not knockoffs, maybe made a bit differently but not a knock off. I have never heard of Lilly Pulitzer but asked my high school aged daughter and she said its for kids like college age, she doesn't care for it and says I am way to old for it LOL.

Kids, too funny!
I was a bit curious, so I went looking around for some info. Apparently the brand was sold off a few years ago and is now owned by Oxford Industries. Wonder if that affects the cachet? :)

I don't know how old your are but nobody is really too old for it. At least I don't think so. It's all about how you wear it.
My mom (in her 60s) looks great in the dress I picked up for her on Sunday. It's the blue one with the fish pattern. She wouldn't look great in the neon pink one.

That's funny. When I think of Lilly Pulitzer I think of middle aged women that spend the winter in Florida.

No luck here. My daughter has a lot of Lilly shift dresses and since they fit her so well I was eager to get a few at Target. By the time I remembered it was the launch day (8am or so) everything was sold out online, but what frustrated me more so than that was that the website listed all sizes available until I tried putting them into my cart. If something's sold out, just say it's sold out. I'm laughing at the people paying $100+ for one of the kids dresses on eBay.. I buy her regular dresses at Saks for $58-$72!

I always thought it looked like something you would buy to wear to the tropics or southern Florida. It's at Dillard's in a nearby big city- all hot pink and wild crazy colors

Geez! No one shops at Target for top of the line, super high quality clothing. The shoppers know this and the designers know this!
Lilly is making fun, inexpensive, designer clothes to sell at Target! They're supposed to be fun and trendy!
All the "snobs" saying they won't but LP now because it cheapens the brand - get over it! No one is trying to fool anyone into thinking they bought anything but the Target line.

That surprises me. The Target collection must be longer than the dresses sold on the Lily website. I looked yesterday to see what all the hub bub was about and the majority of their "dresses" are fingertip length. I thought they were all swimsuit cover ups. LOL
