Any Lilly Pulitzer fans get successful at Target yesterday?

Really? I must have somehow got in using the "back door". Even at that time the dress I really wanted was gone in my size.

The funny thing is last night I must have seen Target's commercial for this collaboration 5 times. I felt like it was taunting me with the cute dresses I didn't get.

So I just went to target.com and looked at the collection...it's Vera Bradley in clothes form.

Didn't get anything. I read online that they will not re-stock. I can't imagine that this is true.

I have quite a bit of Lilly in my closet and so does my daughter. Most years I buy 3-4 new Lilly items for each of us to freshen up or spring/summer wardrobes. I am not buying anything this year due to it being available at Target. I liked Lilly because it was cute, fun, and special. Prostituting it out to Target now makes it no longer special IMHO.

To those who bought it and are happy with it congrats and enjoy. Personally I will just buy more Vineyard Vines this year when I need/want summer clothes that are fun.

It's true. It's a limited edition collaboration. Similar things gave happened with past collaborations.
They were only going to have the stuff available for a few weeks to begin with.

Thanks for the laugh. If you liked it because it's cute and fun, you wouldn't care where you could buy it.
Unless you mean costly, the Target stuff is much more limited than any regular Lilly stuff (excluding vintage) so I guess that makes it more special.

I find Vineyard Vines at TJs and Marshalls all the time.

I didn't even know about this until it was all over. I had to look this stuff up to see what it looked like (I have heard the name before but didn't know what it was like). It's nothing that i would have bought.

I don't know who this person is, or what the hoopla was about, but why do you consider them knockoffs if they are made by the same designer? A knockoff would be a fake, right? Not the actual brand.

The term 'knock-off' was in quotes because I know it's from the designer's designs made for Target not the real line of Lily Pulitizer fabrics. It's not a true knock-off....but it's also not the real line. If it has been an actual knock off, I would not have used quotes. Is that more clear?

Buying last years stuff at TJ Maxx and Marshalls is one thing. Creating a line for a discount store cheapens the brand to me personally. Yes, Lilly was cute and fun and special to me. Once it went to Target it is no longer special in my book.

I don't mind spending money on clothes as they make me happy and I can afford it. I would never buy clothes at Target. This diminished the brand in my eyes and I am reflecting that displeasure by moving on to other designers.

To those people who choose to and like to buy clothes at Target then this is good for them if they want this year's Lilly at a reasonable price. I choose not to. Different strokes for different folks. What is important to you to spend money on is probably not important to me. That is why there are so many choices out there.

I hope you enjoyed your laugh, but it made me sad to see that you could buy Lilly at Target.

I was hoping to get a couple of the dresses for my twins, but by the time I remembered at around 10AM, all was sold out online.

I don't do Black Friday, and I sure as heck wasn't going to get my rear out of bed for either online shopping or in-store purchases. No.

I do imagine that there will be a lot of resellers on ebay that will sadly see that people aren't buying at the steep prices due to the market being flooded. Why would people pay inflated Target Lilly prices on ebay when they can pay the same for non-Target Lilly? I'm hoping that those that bought to resell and don't see the merchandise moving, will then return to Target, Target will clearance it out, and it can be purchased for less than the original price. This is what happened a few years ago with the Liberty of London collaboration and I was able to score some gorgeous dresses for my girls then, at clearance prices.

I had seen the advertisements that the line was coming and saw a really cute hat I wanted to purchase.
I forgot all about it and was in Target around 9:30 yesterday and saw the sign and said "oh yeah I can grab the hat".
It was all gone, there were couple kids pieces left, I was able to get my granddaughter a cute jumper.
My daughter told me another Target had the hat in stock so I went over there.
No hat, but I was able to get a top and a sundress.

One worker said people were outside before the store opened and when they got inside they were just grabbing stuff throwing it into their carts like crazy people.
There is so much for sale now on Ebay, so irritating. I wish people wouldn't buy these jacked up price pieces. I mean what's the point of buying something that was $30 at Target and now $100 on Ebay? You may as well just buy Lilly Pulitzer stuff from her stores and website at her regular prices, its probably better quality.

I like a quote that they read on The Today Show this morning from Twitter, " How can they say it was for a limited time when it sells out in 5 minutes and not replaced, thats a flash sale". Well put!

LizClaiburne did the same thing when it left Dept stores and went to Penny's
Vera wings stuff for Kohls is so dreadful...I don't get it

This is different. Lilly Pulitzer isn't going to be regularly sold at Target. Several designers have done similar Target collaborations including Missoni and Alexander McQueen.

You remind me of my friend. She is a HUGE Lilly fan too! She went to Target yesterday to get a beach chair, beach towel and got some nail polish. She was not interested in getting a dress at Target. She was so disappointed in the way people behaved.

I was 6th in line at Target, I got 2 dresses, 2 pair flip flops and a makeup bag. I don't know how I managed to get that, people were reaching over me and just running around. I will say I have never seen anything like it!!! All the clothing was GONE in 30 seconds no lie. I wouldn't do it again, I had no idea that it would be that way until 8:00 a.m. by then there were hundreds of people in line and hardly any inventory. I tried to buy items online and that was a joke, Target site crashed so I ended up in line. They should put limits on what people can buy, they didn't at our Target. IMO they need to rethink these Target/Designer collaborations, doesn't this seem to happen every time they launch a designer line? I can see why people are so upset and disappointed.

I was able to get everything on my list. I was online around 12 am CST when I noticed on twitter that the collection was up through the mobile site. That is where I ordered the romper, clutch, and maxi dress. I was on the fence about the plates and mugs and decided I would look in person. I arrived around 7:20 and there maybe 7 people in front of me. Once the doors were opened some people ran to the clothing. I tried on the romper and maxi to make sure I got the right size and then handed it to a lady waiting in the dressing room. I went over to the home section and scored the plates, but a lady grabbed all the mugs. This morning I checked on Targets site and noticed that one of my Targets had some mugs in stock. So in the end I was able to get the mugs and grab a shift dress.

With these type of collections you have to be prepared. The first thing you have to know is that there is never alot of items, I believe this is due to agreements with the designer. They don't want to dilute the brand. Also I noticed many are advocating for a limit, but I doubt that would help either. The resellers will just bring more people to come by. H&M usually enforces limits with their designer collections and alot still ends up on Ebay.
