I am curious.
I am not overweight at the moment.
I am working out a lot and have tight arms, legs but still a little belly fat (maybe stretched skin too -I have two children)

So I have been wondering how much I would have to loose to get that really tight belly -or if it is even possible.
And if I would have to loose to the point of looking a little haggard in the face and losing what is left of my chest.

Any thoughts or experiences?

Not a lady, but have helped train a couple who were entering competitions where cut muscle was a key performance indicator.

Think in terms of body fat percentages. To get to the 6-pack stage you will need to be in the single digit range of body fat. You will start to have a little haggard look in the face but not bad, at least for most. It is very doable but think diet as much as work to peel off that last little flab.

Hope that helps

Yes thanks that is helpful

At this point I am not really sure what is fat and what is loose skin
I might make a push to drop a few more pounds and see what happens (it is not like I can't put them back on):)

I'm close to having a 6 pack, but I have a body shape where I store fat in my rear and some in my chest. People have different shapes. I have a friend who is probably a little thinner than me. She has a little belly but a small and flat rear.

I had a trainier say 85% diet & 15 execrise
get the body fat% way down

Thanks guys
I might try it and see what happens -or I might just stay where I am.

here's my experience w/ abs... I'm on the skinny side (and can get too skinny from anxiety pretty easily), and can get a light 6 pack pretty easily by just doing a few sit ups (and keeping up w/ it of course). I'm 42 and have 2 kids. I gained some weight last year (meaning I got up to regular weight from usually being underweight), and everyone told me I looked great (w/ the bit of weight in my face), but this was winter and I was covered up, and yes, my face definitely looked better. I also grew a bit in the chest area, which I was happy about, but I also got a cute little inner-tube around my belly, which I've never had anything like before (my weight used to always go right to my butt and thighs - pear shape). I guess our body shapes can really change as we get older. Anyway, I was ok w/ the weight gain everywhere else, except that little inner-tube. It really, really bugged me. Then the last straw was when my dh said "well, look at it this way, you lasted longer than most women"... :scared1: I was NOT going to be one of the "she looks ok for her age" gals... so I lost the weight (not by exercising, just easy dieting). Then I started my sit ups again. Now I have a fairly flat tummy and my light six pack, but I'm too skinny again. I want my weight back, but not where it was. I'm looking to muscle up my legs and butt, and gain weight in my face and chest. My arms are fine. I'm currently doing weights for my legs and butt, and a little treadmill for warming up, and eliptical on the highest settings, and my sit ups. And general stretching (really close to doing my old cheerleading split).

SO, my experience, after having 2 kids and being in my 40's, is I had to lose all my weight to get rid of that belly, and now I'm going to try to put it back on in the right places (and yes, my face is kind of drawn out now, and I hate it). We'll see how that goes. I was actually going to post to ask about protein to eat (if it helps w/ the muscle gain, etc), and the best exercises for legs/butt/abs.
