I'm so ready to give up and throw in the towel on this. I've done a handful of iron on shirts before. For two years, I did the canoe races at Disney and we made shirts for every one on the team, which was about 20 shirts each year. I know it's not science, but I can't get these stupid things to work this time.
I'm making shirts for the family reunion, and it's just a little thing on the shirt that says the family and name and where we're going. Maybe 3" wide and 1" tall. I can't get the stupid things to stick no matter what.
A) all shirts are heavy 100% cotton (not those thin undershirts for guys)
B) pre-washed, just a little bit of soap and no softner at all
C) iron is brand new, took it out of the box myself, so there's no water or moisture in it that could affect it.
D) I've tried it on an ironing board, and I've also used a wooden cutting board underneath (some sites say using something hard works better than an ironing board).
E) I've tried 5 seconds, 10 seconds, 15 seconds, 20 seconds. Too short, the glue doesn't adhere, too long and the glue turns yellow and dries out. In the middle, only some of it glues to the shirt like it should.
F) I've tried peeling it off after it cools and while it's still hot. Same problem.
G) I've tried ironing with a piece of fabric between the paper and iron.
I'm running out of time, and patience with this thing. I have 25 shirts to complete, which shouldn't take more than a couple of hours. The canoe shirts I made before were front, back, and sleeves, with much larger images, but just as small fonts for the sleeves of the shirts. Didn't have this much trouble with it.
