Any Incentives for BLT on the Magic?

We've decided to go ahead and buy into DVC! :yay:

We're thinking: BLT, 160 points, October use year.

Should we go ahead and buy on October 5th --- or wait until we're onboard the Disney Magic in mid-November? Will there be additional incentives if we wait? Or would we be risking not getting the Use Year we need by waiting? If we buy on board, can we take care of all paperwork & payment on the ship?

Thanks!

No one can say for sure, but I have read that people who sign up on a cruise get the same incentives as those who purchase on land, but that they also get $$$ to spend on the ship. I've seen $200 - $500.

They aren't offering any incentives for BLT aside from $5.00 off per point, and it remains to be seen if even that will be offered to the public. I can't imagine them not offering a ship credit, but with BLT we are seeing a whole new game, so...

I'm anxious to hear from the people who are on the members cruise right now. I wonder if they are getting anything that we aren't? Can't wait until they get back!

I talked to my guide yesterday (when purchasing my add-on!) and he is working the member's cruise. He told me yesterday that if members were planning to buy and did not buy on the cruise they were nuts! He said they would be offering an amazing incentive, and even said that he wished that DVC would have given the cruise guests a "heads up" so that they didn't buy before the cruise since it is so great. Definitely wish I was on the boat right now, but maybe we will get to go again next year!

ETA: Sorry for the confusion. I should have realized that you said you were going in November and therefore were not on the DVC Member Cruise. I'm sure they will have a similar incentive on board to those they offer on dry land, but maybe with shipboard credit.

This will be interesting to hear. I'm following all incentives right now as we plan to buy, but the incentives are the deal breaker for us. Not thrilled with a brick w/name incentive, so anxious to see what might be next.

check out the thread in mouscellaneous forums,, someone posted the incentives available on the member cruise!

I am waiting for my order to be processed on the 5th and for my paperwork to run and I'm getting the $5 off per point.

Just bumping... has anyone purchased BLT while onboard DCL? I'm curious if there are any additional incentives.

While I can't answer the question I can share my experience. For fun I went to the DVC info session on the Magic (9/27 to 10/4). They did not even mention the BLT. I was surprised.

Wow! That's surprising! I wonder if it was because BLT didn't go on sale to the public until 10/5?

Just got off the Magic today and they were offering AKL and BLT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know. They had announced before we went on the ship, you would think that they would just mention that it was being built. But maybe because they couldn't sell, and we all know sales people like to get a commitment prior to the customer leaving, they didn't want to chance it.

We bought this past weekend on the Wonder. BLT and AKL is all that is selling right now on the ships. You get the $107 per point cost plus $500 SBC. Use year for Oct/Nov purchases is set for Feb 1

Hope that helps

Hi there from a hopefully soon "newbie". Are other use years available if you purchase now? Was thinking about Sep or Oct UY as we're most likely to travel during F&W and end of Dec/Jan....
Cheers :)

They told us use year available is only February right now, we asked. but it really doesnt matter. This just means you get your points on Feb 1 each year. Since you can book 11/7 months out it should not affect Oct/Nov/Dec travel

For some people it might matter quite a bit. A February UY would not be good for persons wanting to typically travel Oct, Nov & Dec. If for some reason they had to cancel their plans, they would be unable to bank their points. An Oct UY would be the best for these travel months.

This is a deal breaker for us! If they aren't willing to give us an October or December use year when we are on the Magic next month, we won't be buying BLT at this time. We nearly always travel to WDW in January or February as you can see in my signature. The banking is a huge factor for us! If we booked 11 months out for a January trip, we would need to book in February. My husband can't schedule vacation for the following year until sometime between late October and early December (which would be after the banking deadline for a February use year). The vacation schedule goes by seniority and only one employee can be gone at once, so there's always a chance that we won't get our first choice in vacation weeks. It actually hasn't happened yet since we travel when no one else wants too, but there still is that chance! Anyway, we really need a use year that would allow us to bank our points if we had to cancel a ressie due to DH not being able to take off work.

I'm glad to hear about the $500 credit though! :thumbsup2

I have heard of people that "insist" and end up getting the UY that they want even when supposedly one cannot (but I believe they were going backward to UY that were already sold out, not into the future to get UY that haven't been put up for sale yet).

I told my guide that we would only buy BLT with a Sept UY, and she told me she'd call me when they start to sell the Sept UYs.

FWIW.

I bought 9-25 and got April use year.... but don't have to close right away... perhaps that how my advisor swung that part.... They try to keep your use year the same as previous contracts... that what mine told me...

Yes, if you already own DVC all of your add-ons will be the same UY as your original DVC contract.

I should have emphasized that I was talking about people buying into DVC for the first time. =)
