I was just wondering. We drove through Montana a couple weeks ago-miles and miles of no civilization. I was wondering if there was anyone there.

Used to live there. It's kind of like living in West Texas. More cattle than people. Even Billings, the largest city in MT, only has about 80,000 people. I lived in the largest town in Eastern Montana and we had 9,000 people (and about 20,000 head of cattle).

I love MT and miss it a lot. It is the "Last Best Place".

About 70 miles to the west of Montana here. We are lucky, we have almost 300,000 people in our county! :cool1: There are lots of wide, open spaces here, too, but we have trees. It is actually a wonderful place to live with a great quality of life. You can get to DL in about 5 hours and WDW in a day. :goodvibes

A year or so ago the Disney files had a listing of the # of DVC families in each state. I don't remember how many were in Montana, Idaho had the fewest members per capita.

From memory, NJ #1 with about 1 in 365, RI was 2nd. Here is Alabama, it was about 1 in 6000. Some states had 1 DVC membership to 10,000 people. That is what I would guess would be the # for Montana.

Good reference! It was the Summer 2008 edition -- which shows 90 member households in Montana and 100 in Idaho.
Oh, thanks so much! Sometime I think it would be interesting to get population statistics for the states, then compare what % are DVC owners. I know, I have a weird concept of what's interesting.

DW and I lived in Froid from '79-'84 -- it's located between Culbertson and Plentywood. Our two DD's were born in Culbertson. I'm guessing you were in Miles City or maybe Havre? Although we made some good friends there, I can't say we particularly miss the place! :)

Yep, we were in Miles City from 1991 to 1996. And I did love the place. Our son was born in Miles City and was the only baby born that day. There were two other babies in the nursery - both a few days older. We lived 2 miles from our mailbox and our nearest neighbor was two miles in the other direction.

Hey Lisa, I grew up in Cd'A. Just back two days ago from a visit there, Glacier and Yellowstone. My sister is moving to Helena this summer, so I'm sure that we will get out there more often. I really miss the West.

Born and raised there! Don't live there now, but miss it a lot. Fourth largest state in the union, but very small population. That's a good thing, in case you're wondering :)

Not a member of DVC yet .... but dream of being one someday! I live near Glacier Park. Today the skys are blue and the breeze is cool. It really is the Big Sky country. I have lived in Montana all my life. The winters can be really cold..... brrr.:teacher:

It's a great place to live and a super quality of life. One good thing about living in Virginia now, you are alot closer to WDW! :thumbsup2
