Any DVC teachers out there???

Count me in, too!

I teach AP psychology and history to high school students. Can't believe how long DH and I agonized over the decision to buy DVC back in 2007. Without a doubt, it was the BEST decision we have ever made. :thumbsup2 LOVE our DVC!!! We are members at VWL. Love going to WDW over our annual March spring breaks.

There is at least one other DVC family among the faculty at my school and two others thinking about it. Lots of Disney fans among the kids too. I am in good company!

Count me in- high school English teacher in PA! I include Waltograph font on handouts whenever I can! I had on a silly band (next to my Mickey watch) and a student knew right away it had to be Mickey!

Cool, I am at Frederick High. Nice to be able to pick between 2 new schools. Both are very nice. We live in Middletown, with 2 DS ages 13 and 10. (dining plan went way up this year for us but 10year old can handle it lol)

We leave on the 29th and took last year off so kids are super excited. DW talked um told me that I never take time away from school and she wanted members cruise for birthday so we are going back in sept. Gonna have to find a summer job to cover airfare. :scared1:

Nice to meet you. From the looks on this thread alone there are 5 of us from MD maybe we should start our MD thread as well.

We leave on the 29th as well and are staying till the 9th. We have a DS who will be a year on the 18th of June. We are staying at BCV for the first 3 nights and the Kidani for the rest of the time. We are super excited. We are doing the deluxe dining plan for the first time for the first three nights. We may not be able to walk after all the food. I would love to go on the cruise. How many days did you need to take for that??

Proud to say that I am!

Another "Teacher DVC" here!! I teach full time permanent SR Kindergarten -- my DH is a professional firefighter. I too get some interesting reactions when co-workers ask where I am spending holidays. Some of the other teachers come to me for Disney advice if and when they go. They know I love Disney but few know I own DVC. June 28th is the last day of school for us teachers --that night I head to Detroit and the next morn. we fly DH, myself and our 2 kids to do a DVC vacay. We will be at the BCV first 5 nights and Kidani the following 3. Cannot wait.Of course,,,many say "you are going to Disney again??" but to be fair...some say"Good for you" and they are honestly glad to see that someone does something to make them happy:love: I find that June is a "mixed feeling " month. I am so glad it is almost over BUT this is one of the busiest and tiring of times....Finally assessments and stats due, report cards due, field trip organizing, play days..and a big show that my Ks do for the families.....Just ...it is time .....for DISNEY!! IF not for my DVC--I use this as my reward for all the hard work...:yay:

High school teacher and DVC owner from Florida here. All of my students know my favorite place in the world and they think it's pretty cool. :thumbsup2

I had one of "those" students this year--you know, the kind that drives you crazy but will be sorely missed next year--anyway, he begged me to get him something when we went in Jan. I took a pen from the room. He almost died when I said I had something for him. I think the class actually thought I spent money on him. But he loved the pen. He said he still had it now at the end of school. Not sure if I believe him. He asked me to get him something--he did not specify! :rotfl:

DH thought I was a dork. I thought I was creative.

DH and I are both teachers in KY. We enjoy early to mid June trips to WDW and an occasional trip in October during fall break. I work with two other teachers at my school who own DVC (used to work with three) and DH works with at least three others DVCers.

Another Alabama teacher here! I teach 2nd grade, and my DH is a middle school security officer.

We love our WDW trips! We don't have kids of our own, so we've decided to act like big kids! My co-workers don't understand my obsession with Disney. Right before every break, they start asking me if I'm going to Disney....again. I personally think they're just jealous.

Not a teacher but I do A/P for a PA school distict. I also carry my DVC bag to work every day.

To funny guess where we are staying from the 29-4th:rolleyes1 BCV lol. Then on to blt. We are leaving the 8th as DW has to be back at work Sat at hospital in Balt. Friends of ours who are also DVC member are going to be down there as well and we have going to have a great time hanging out together. Doing 4th on top of blt.

I am taking 4 days. After School on Friday the 10th we are rushing to the airport having dinner in epcot that night. All day Sat in the parks then leave for the cruise on Sunday. Get back to port on Thursday then fly back that night. At school on Friday. I think I should have taken the entire week but...

You are right about dining plan. I tell people if you leave WDW hungry that is your fault!

Enjoy the last couple days of school.

I teach kindergarten. I don't notice the kids around Disney at all. I do however notice the rude inconsiderate adults.

We are currently in the world right now.

I get made fun of a lot at my school. I wear Mickey Mouse earrings and my students wear birthday buttons on their birthdays. This year I made tie dye Mickey Mouse t-shirts for our class field trip. Our class pet, which is a stuffed frog, even made a trip with me to the world. I proudly took her around and had pictures taken with my student's wish character list.

The best advice I have ever received is, "Own your love of Disney. Ignore them.(the people who make fun of you or make comments about you going so frequently) I did and I have stopped caring about what other people think or say about my love for Disney. :lovestruc

:) I do teach nurses that come through my department. DH is a firefighter. I have one girl at work who is very interested in DVC. They love AKV. I keep it on the down low but am always up for a good discussion.

I used to work with someone who also loved Disney. Her parents owned BWV when we first met. But shortly after they had a house built. She and her mom go down all the time. They might be bigger buffs than me.

At that same former school is a band director and his secretary wife. He was a bus driver for a year at some point (maybe before kids--who are grown now). They own somewhere as well.

I keep in touch with both if I ever need a good convo that someone will understand.

DVC owner and NY teacher here. My students love that I love Disney!

I am an early retired GM salaried professional, turned reading intervention parapro in a charter school in Detroit. All the kids know (as well as some of the teaching staff) that I am a Disney nut.

One of my second graders has gone to Disney quite a bit, and she and I talk about 'the world' at least once a week....pathetic I know, she is the only one who understands my addiction.:rotfl:

We won't being going to the 'world' this year, however, Disney Dream Cruise next year:woohoo:

DVC owner since 2003:cool1:

1st grade public school teacher in Maryland :teacher:

Only 5 student days left of school!! :cool1:

I'm a H.S. Theater teacher from Ohio and my wife is an Educational Audiologist. I don't think there are any other DVC members at my current school, but I was one of 4 at my previous one. And tomorrow is our last day!

Where in Maryland? My Athletic director and my department give me a hard time as well but funny I have planned 4 trips for my dept. as well as many coaches at our school. I should start charging a fee. LOL
