Any DVC teachers out there???

Count me in, too, and DH as well. People think I'm nuts, but they surely know where to go for advice when they're planning their trips! :lmao:

I was a first grade teacher for 34½ years and still substitute in the school where I taught. One other staff member also owns DVC. For my retirement gift the staff bought me a bunch of Disney themed stuff and Disney dollars. :goodvibes

I have taught for 6 years in MD and owned DVC since 2008. I use to work with a fellow Disney fan (not DVC member) but she transfered to another school so I have to feed my obsession alone.

I do have 1 administrator that always makes fun of my Disney purse or disney jackets. Then 2 years ago I saw a MVMCP mug sitting on his desk right after Christmas. I totally busted him and he tried to cover it up saying it was just some mug his wife bought but I caled him out explaing I knew it had to be purchased in WDW during a specific event. He finally confessed and since then has stopped teasing me.

Teacher here from Frederick Maryland as well. I think you have to be a little crazy to be a teacher anyway! My kids expect bonus questions on test and quiz and there will always be at least one disney question. I teach in the high school and I think the kids appreciate that I understand that they are still kids and sometimes going back to a disney movie or disney world questions makes them feel good. I just found out that several of my kids in my sports medicine class will be down at wdw the same time I will be in under 20 days woohoo. We are going to meet for a group photo and put it in the year book! People that aren't dvc members don't realize that I don't stand in lines for hours as I have already done this or that and I will fast pass and come back. Those are the people that go once every five years and try to get everything done. We are the relaxed ones. It is so relaxing for my family and I and if the parks are crazy we just hang at the resort which is an adventure in it self. So feel free to let those that give you a hard time know that we got your back and we will be having fun where dreams come true!!!

Where in Maryland? My Athletic director and my department give me a hard time as well but funny I have planned 4 trips for my dept. as well as many coaches at our school. I should start charging a fee. LOL

I am a high school English teacher in Chicago. I get mixed reactions from my co-workers, but my students think it is awesome! Some of my fellow teachers think it is a bit nerdy that someone in her 20s would still like WDW (it isn't just for kids...:sigh: they don't get it). We always talk about all that is Disney in my senior classes and those 18 year old faces light up lol. Even at an assembly for incoming advanced placement students, I gave a handout to students I'll have in the fall, and there were a few I had as freshmen. One girl shouted, "You still put Disney characters on your handouts! I remember that and love it!"

When I bought BLT I got a few eye rolls from teachers, but the admins gave me pats on the back lol. Rock your DVC and be proud!

Connecticut retired teacher here . . . DVC since 1998 . . . also school expert. Our parks and rec. had bus trips to camp at Fort Wilderness (in tents) during April vacation. This is a true example of LOVE of kids and Disney! Three years in a row I spent 23 hours, each way, on a bus with 40 kids ages 10 -1 7. Along with three other teachers we chaporoned these kids for six days and nights! Our only pay was a free week at WDW. :yay: Now, every September I go back to Disney instead of going back to school! Life is good!

Hi Scott,

I teach at Lewistown Elementary and my husband is at Linganore High. He will be at Oakdale next year. We live in Walkerville. We are headed to Disney for 10 nights three weeks from today:thumbsup2

I am an elementary teacher in Michigan and many of my co-workers are just appalled that I own DVC....

They are jealous cause you get to spend your summer vacation in a Villa, while they are teaching summer school to make extra money to pay for their value resort! ;)

My wife is a teacher in Northern VA and I sub in my spare time for some extra cash. Her VP is also a DVC owner, but most of the other teachers don't really "get it." We'll be in Fl for over a month this summer staying in studios and off site on weekend! Gotta stretch out those pts! We bought 200 pts at BLT last year and only wish we could have purchased sooner.

My husband and I are teachers in Illinois. He teaches high school Orchestra and I teach elementary general music k-6. We love our DVC! We just booked our first cruise for Dec. 19th- -can't wait!:thumbsup2

DW and I are both teachers at the same HS--owned DVC for past 2 years, loved WDW much longer than that...folks 'round our school acknowledge us as the resident Disney nuts!

My husband and I are both teachers in Nevada. I am a HS Band and Choir Director while he teaches our in school suspension program. :goodvibes

Cool, I am at Frederick High. Nice to be able to pick between 2 new schools. Both are very nice. We live in Middletown, with 2 DS ages 13 and 10. (dining plan went way up this year for us but 10year old can handle it lol)

We leave on the 29th and took last year off so kids are super excited. DW talked um told me that I never take time away from school and she wanted members cruise for birthday so we are going back in sept. Gonna have to find a summer job to cover airfare. :scared1:

Nice to meet you. From the looks on this thread alone there are 5 of us from MD maybe we should start our MD thread as well.

I'm a 5th grade teacher and my boyfriend is an art teacher. I'm the DVC member though!! My mom also works in the school system but is not a teacher!! We're from NJ and no one at work knows I'm a DVC member except my close friends there, 1. they wouldn't get it and 2. they already think I'm nuts for going to Disney all the time!! Ps. only 11 school days left for me!:yay::banana:

My in-laws are the actual owners. MIL is retired from being a h.s. principal (and Asst. Principal, counselor and teacher before that).

I teach high school math.

We are "associates." We think we'll buy in someday, though the in-laws really want to do the buying and have us do the enjoying. Who can argue?

I tell people where I'm going--I usually take off work to go to work with DH's schedule. I think they figure it's because we have a 3 yo. It's mostly for us that we go. Most would be stunned to see the accomodations where we stay--whether the villas now or the deluxe resorts we've stayed before.

Even my teacher SIL doesn't "get it" and she has two kids too.
