Thinking of doing a spontaneous trip March 22-April 2nd, which is our spring break. Last year we went end of FEB and had lots of unpleasant experiences with cheerleading groups. I know they aren't all loud, and disrespectful to others enjoying their vacations, but just would choose to go when there aren't any competitions going on,if at all possible. So any info would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

US Spirit is hosting their national competition at Islands of Adventure March 25th-26th but other than that, this should be the only cheerleading competition going on while you are down there. I'm involved with the cheerleading industry, and know when all of the big nationals are held in WDW/Orlando. I'm sorry that your past experiences with cheerleaders have not been pleasant! Have fun!

YES YES YES there will DEFINATELY be CHEERLEADERS at WDW 3/27-3/31
A friend, her daughter and I are flying down 3/24. They're going to their cheerleading competition offsite (Rosen Ctr) and coming over to join me at WDW M 3/27- F 3/31. There are other cheerleaders coming to WDW after the competition also.

Americheer is holding an International Cheerleading & Dance competition March 16-19. We'll be there only through the 20th, but many families are extending their stay since their kids are on spring break (we're not..just playing hooky :rolleyes1 )

The competition is at Wide World of Sports, not inside any parks, and from what I understand the packages they're offering include either the All Star Hotels or CBR; we're hopefully staying at the Dolphin. I love the girls, but I usually try to pick a hotel where NONE of the teams stay; these competitions just get them way to wired up.

FWIW, for the 6 days we'll be there, we won't really be in the parks much at all. My daughter competes on 3 teams and an individual stunt group, so we'll be VERY familiar with WWOS after this.

Thanks everyone..Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against cheerleaders but on 3 different spring trips to Disney, esp this last year? I saw grown women acting like teenagers, egging the girls on to cheer ON rides, IN lines, IN restaurants and then to hear some of the chants saying that they were the best and the others were losers, (not the exact words, but I was shocked at the bragging they were doing, putting others down, all in cheer form?). The adult chaperones, women, acted like idiot women who were reliving their own teenhood through these groups of young girls. For the record, we went in DEC and saw a few groups and for the most part, most were well behaved but wow, the ones at Spring Break time, just really shocked me. Try riding TOT with a group of them, I swear my ears were bleeding after the ride, haha.....

There is a national The begining of March at the Swan and Dolphin so you miss that one! :)
